Killer Vintage Cartoon Characters Story Concept

It’s been a while since I made mock anime concepts. I was watching creepy vintage cartoons in the background as I was making commissions and rewards so I got inspired!

Summary: A timid cartoon/anime nerd wakes up in a world different from his own teams up with a badass cartoon character to fight against rogue cartoons out to get him as he’s trying to get aboard a phantom train.

The Reasons as to Why Geno (SMRPG) is my Favorite Character of All Time.

Okay.

I know what you’re thinking.

“Oh, come on! Geno is a good character, yeah, but he has little to no character development! How could he overrun someone who is as deep as Dimentio or Luigi!”

And to that I say!… I understand.

Geno isn’t that developed of a character, but they do give off just enough information about him to be able to figure out how he would act in many situations. In this post I will be talking about why Geno (Jīno) is a wonderful character, and why he is my all-time favorite.

Without further ado, I shall continue.

1 - Geno’s Design

Wether you actively love Geno or not, you cannot deny that his character design is truly something to behold. The seemingly tattered cape he wears is almost iconic in nature. That along with his beanie-style hat with the wind-up-toy symbol upon its front makes his design unmistakably “Geno.” His color palette is simple yet well thought out, and the two curls of hair just ties everything together. A simple, memorable character that everyone who knows about him can recognize him when they see. Many people stylize Geno to better fit their styles or tastes, but his design is so recognizable that even if it was drastically changed, one could still point him out and call him under such a name.

2 - Personality

Geno has a truly unique personality, and it shows! He is quite a bit of a dork, and seems to enjoy fun things. He uses casual and slang words more often than not, using terms like “Yo!” And “Eh?” To express his emotions properly. Despite all this Geno is also very responsible. When Geno is entrusted to do something, he will proudly fulfill the task the best he can, and finds responsibility in both his actions and the vessel (the doll) he uses to do such things. Geno, being most likely of a decently high work level at the Star Road, is driven by other people’s well-being to keep him going. He is charismatic, generally optimistic, and a wonderful team player. The fandom often times messes around with his personality and some believe Geno to be an edgy doll that is too emo for a Mario game. This is completely incorrect, as Geno in reality is a fun-loving dork that enjoys hanging out with the people he likes.

3 - Moveset & Stat Setup

If you know me, which you may or may not, you’ll know that I absolutely adore characters that are Glass Cannons. Geno is exactly this, and is a wonderful example of what a Glass Cannon should be. The stat setup for him makes it so that he has very high attack and magical attack, but lower defense and magical defense, along with a moderately to low HP stat. This is normally the stat setup I like to play most, and I love the fact that Geno is like this. His moveset is also very unique, regarding his various magical attacks. The timing has to be just right or the power will flop (most notable on the famous move, “Geno Whirl” which of times correctly can do up to 9,999 damage but if timed incorrectly will do a small amount). I enjoy having to time attacks in the gameplay, and Geno only makes it even more fun, as it’s quite entertaining to one-hit Exor with Geno Whirl.

4 - Geno’s Concept

There has always been something very amazing about the stars to me. Ever since I was small I enjoyed looking up at the sky and making wishes while the stars above glittered next to the moon. I had previously always wondered what it was like to be a star, and if one would ever visit this earth. Geno, being literally a star that visits earth and possesses a puppet was truly intriguing the moment I laid eyes upon him. In the world of Mario, Geno is functionally an angel which descends from the skies to bless the world with his divine presence… Inside a small child’s May Sue Toy. If that isn’t a fun concept, than I don’t know what is. His role as a worker at Star Road hat was sent down implies that he has a decently high position up there, and possibly even helps grant wishes himself, which is quite an interesting thing indeed, especially since much of his character is still quite enigmatic.

Now, today, Geno is laying in an ocean of praise and love from his long time and newer followers, those who haven’t forgotten about his existence, and further desire for his character to make a comeback. Wether it be in a small way, or a big way, I do wish for Geno to be revived, and for someone to come along and bring the Star Child on another adventure. Geno is wonderful, for many reasons, even ones that I didn’t approach on this post. But nonetheless I find his character to be unique, lovable, and admirable. That is why he is my Favorite Character of All Time.
