uhhh just a little heads up — the writing i’m doing rn is VERY experimental, i’m just trying my best to get a feel for the characters and the way i want the story to go. i don’t have everything thought out yet and hell, i have a Lot of worldbuilding to do, but i’m taking my time with this. this is My oc project and if all goes well, this’ll hopefully actually be a novel or an indie animated show when i’m older. i have a Lot of time to figure shit out :3

cbc character overviews: diya

so, naturally, first off we have our main character!!

name: lydia “diya” patel

age: 14

birthday: ?

pronouns: she/her

sexuality: bi

abilities: fire/light magic

the best way i can describe her is like if you combined uzi doorman, luz noceda, tessa james elliott, and charlie morningstar. she’s very much the “weird girl” main character.

her parents are rich, and as such she’s always been privileged. however, once a mysterious sickness of sorts starts to spread through her city, and later through her home at her family’s manor, she’s willing to throw her life of privilege away to run away with her best friend to investigate the cause of it all. she’s reckless, impulsive, rebellious, and always eager to do the exact opposite of whatever her parents say. she doesn’t have any friends, really, outside of a few servants from the manor (most notably her personal servant and girlfriend best friend). it’s not like she hasn’t tried to make friends, but other upper class children never liked her… or her interests. she’s always been fascinated by magic, which is normal of a child, yes, but her interest in studying it further and practicing it more gets in the way of what her parents believe to be “proper" interests for a girl like her. she’s also autistic, so the social struggles she has are more than understandable. she, however, lacks the socialization and therefore social anxiety most people have, leading her to still be outgoing and loud and not afraid to fight for what she believes in or to be herself. her main worry? being a failure. but dwelling on if you’ll ever amount to anything isn’t the kind of thing to be thinking about while setting out on a long, magical adventure to save the lives of many, right?

and yes she IS indian. she’s guyanese specifically. i’m projecting myself onto her and i don’t care. i need representation and godfuckingdamnit if i have to make it myself then so be it
