in the middle of my project assessing the correlation between tagging and tumblarity, tumblarity was removed from the website and i had to redo all of my work including my IRB proposal!

happy 25th bday fevers and mirrors 🥹🥹

The original photo taken for the cover of Fevers and Mirrors shows the photographer taking the picture. She was reflected in the mirror, and you can see the camera on a tripod with a cable release. You’ll have to google what a cable release is, probably. This was before digital cameras, so it was all old school film.
My dad helped me hang that wallpaper on one wall in my basement for the project, and I got the mirror at the thrift store I worked at at the time. When I moved out of that house I used a saw and cut the drywall off that wall so I could keep and display it. Part of that section of wall with the mirror used to be on display in the Saddle Creek record shop.
The promo poster for Fevers actually used this image with the photographer. I like that it’s kind of ghostly.
Conor and I went to the wallpaper store and picked out this pattern for the artwork. He liked that it shows a guy playing guitar to a woman. I should have bought extra rolls… I think it would be cool to wallpaper an entire room with this, but I don’t think they make it anymore.
Matt Baum (of Desaparecidos) was playing drums with Bright Eyes at the time, and he was living with me. They had band practice in this room of my house where the wallpaper was hung, while they were getting ready to go on tour. There’s a brief clip of it in the Spend an Evening with Saddle Creek DVD… it was my laundry room :)

adding in a reblog for you @puppet-angel, as i'm sure you're not the only one - in the late 00's, Tumblr kept a score that ranked blogs' (activity? popularity? a combo of the two?) called Tumblarity. I don't have a ton of screenshots, but I do have this one from june 2009, also featuring @aco who is the person who told me about Tumblr a million years ago.
I remember my first month at Tumblr in 2013, we had a big history lesson with David and when it came to the Q&A, I IMMEDIATELY told him about how I had to redo all of my research when they ripped it out and asked what the formula for it was. He did not remember. :[
