Neal and Peter are not father and son lmao even if you don’t ship them

Everyone is entitled to their way of viewing the important relationship between those two characters imo. If you ship them, fine, not my cup of tea. Maybe you see them as close friends, brothers, father and son, uncle and nephew, whatever your heart desires. Whatever you most find compelling.

But it is kinda crazy to say father and son is the ONE thing they DEFINITELY can’t be, when, um…

“You have a son here?”

“A daughter—Chloe. A junior. Keeps me on my toes.”

“Yeah, always wondering what they're up to next.”

“Oh, your son's a handful, too, huh?”

“He's very intelligent but… impulsive. His moves tend to land him in trouble.”

(That’s a pretty long and emotional speech for someone who just needs to sell that he has a son for an undercover operation. Just saying.)

And that’s just what comes to mind off the top of my head.

You don’t have to focus on that aspect of the relationship. You can even headcanon it away. I’m not the shipping police, ship to your heart’s content, or see them as brothers, or even just friends. Genuinely do whatever you’d like, that’s why we have fandom.

But like… it’s really NOT difficult to see where the father/son dynamic comes from. There is a reason some people see them that way. We didn’t invent it out of thin air.

KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.

Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.

usually the "extremely smart guy who Knows Everything and is Very Skilled and know's he's Hot Shit" character doesn't work for me at all because I usually think it's at the expense of other characters and like the plot sometimes (and very often it's Just Some White Guy). but I do have to say I think Neal Caffrey is an exception just through his sheer, and idk how else to say this, babygirl energy

Neal and Mozzie make such good partners in crime because Neal is all charming and silver-tongued, yes, but a lot of people are on their guard for people like that, despite how unfairly good at it he is. But if Mozzie walks in first and just starts being absolutely bonkers and insane, and they’re distracted and annoyed and not thinking, Neal now looks even more trustworthy and down to earth and, well, normal, which makes his natural charm work even better because they would so much rather be interacting with him than the guy who is actively being we obnoxious as possible for the sole reason of creating a distraction and making it too difficult for the marks to remember that sometimes people who sound trustworthy aren’t.
