the thing that is so crazy about sokka and yue is that obviously they are foils, like yue is specifically narratively constructed to parallel sokka in terms of prioritizing their duties to their fathers & tribes, sacrificing their own agency and life to serve their communities by fulfilling their role in the patriarchal order.. but yue herself doesn’t even know that. because sokka never talks about anything. so even when she’s like “you don’t understand, i have duties to my father and to my tribe,” sokka isn’t like “actually i understand your situation very intimately, as it is an exact mirror of the circumstance that has defined my entire existence.” because if he said that, he would not be sokka. so he’s just like “but have you considered not making yourself miserable? i think that’s something you, as a person, could do. obviously i could never do that, but your situation is totally different. because you don’t deserve to be miserable. whereas i do.”

Today I will make my incendiary fandom post on *spins wheel* Spy X Family.
Look, I enjoy Twiyor romance and jokes about Anya asking for a little sibling as much as anyone. But I often really dislike it when post-reveal “they’re a real family with no more secrets” AUs feature Yor and Loid having a baby.
Because like??? It reads to me like people thinking that in order for the Forgers to be a real, perfect (nuclear) family, they have to have a biological kid. They have to have a baby and it has to be theirs, specifically. As if Twilight and Yor aren’t already in love thanks to their relationship and already parents thanks to raising Anya.
(Also, as if Twilight and Yor, two war orphans who know intimately how it feels to be failed by adults, wouldn’t consider adoption if they decided they wanted a second kid?)
I don’t think people consciously intend that to be the message. But it does feel like they don’t actually consider Anya to be Yor and Loid’s kid. Like she’s not enough, like for them to be real parents and a real family they need to have a baby and their own biological kid specifically.
It feels like people are looking at the family they’ve already built and saying it’s not enough.

So if I were to take away from this moment something deeper than “man Sevika's a freak”, I'd point out that we've seen the same tactic not long before.
What does this say about Caitlyn? She's fighting dirty. She's fighting like a cornered rat. She's fighting like a Zaunite.
And first of all there's hypocrisy. Caitlyn's been calling these people animals and monsters and whatnot but when placed in an identical situation she responds identically. Case in point: getting so mad at Jinx for terrorizing people out of grief that she goes ahead and starts to terrorize people out of grief. Sevika's expression afterwards is mostly “joke's on you I'm into that” but there's some surprise there too — you wouldn't expect that move from a Piltie.
Then there's desperation. Because she needs revenge; she needs it or she'll never ever forgive herself for what happened. So she'll throw away her morals and her dignity and just do whatever it takes to achieve the goal, whether it means chomping on someone like a feral raccoon or becoming a military dictator… which puts her in the same mindset as Zaunites, all of whom are desperate to survive and a lot of whom could never afford morals and dignity in the first place.

FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!!
Even if most people are just joking, it bothers me when other people actually think it's all due to a failed relationship when the problem is actually bigger than that. Vi getting to this point isn't because she broke up with Caitlyn. She has bigger, more difficult things going on than just a failed relationship. Adding to that the most painful factor for Vi is when she fights Jinx, which is one of the factors that really affects her. She went from being protective of her sister to "hurting" her sister. (Even though her sister Jinx brought this on herself, but anyway)
"Losing Caitlyn was the last straw, as they say"
Caitlyn was the one who got Vi out of prison, She got her out of the worst place Vi had ever been in. And Caitlyn was the last person Vi could trust and now she's gone.
I mean you can see she wasn't that miserable when she was in prison because she said herself, "The only thing that kept me going, was the thought of getting back to you." Now her sister is gone and Caitlyn is gone, the only two people left in her life. It's only natural that she would come to this point after literally losing everything.
Vi now has no hope no purpose and no one left after all the people she's lost along the way. It's really hard for Vi.

What are your thoughts on L? You’d mentioned how he has this weird sugar addiction and acts like a man child—and you thought it was intentional, not that he was maladjusted—could you elaborate? Thanks!
Alright, let's do it, let's get me torn apart by a new set of fans. I do love how you guys ask these questions and it's either because a) you want to tear me apart or b) you enjoy the idea of the raging tumblr wolves devouring my carcass.
"I know, let's ask Muffin about Stucky!"
With that, L.
Near is Socially Awkward, L is Not
To me, what makes it seem as if much of L's persona is intentional, is how much amusement he seems to derive out of making those around him severely uncomfortable/the lengths he goes to seek entertainment.
With Near, I get the genuine feeling that he just can't even with people. He speaks to dolls, wears masks, because he literally cannot function in the outside world. His speech tends to be awkward, he wears all white, only looks at all white puzzles, he doesn't look people in the eye.
L is different.
L often, intentionally, gazes directly at who he's talking to. He leans into their personal space, often times forcing them to take steps backwards. For all he says bizarre things, he's very well spoken, and usually what he does say is either to purposefully make someone uncomfortable or to lure them into a verbal trap. L runs circles around the task force and, when pretending to be Misa's number one fan, does an excellent job at it.
L seems to have a very good understanding of ordinary people and normal human behavior.
No, when we see L act at his most bizarre, it's usually in the context of inconveniencing/annoying/or just throwing off someone else. Watari, who wanted to raise Batman, instead gets to live the life of getting L world class deserts and being his butler. (I imagine L finds this hilarious).
He treats the task force like utter garbage, Matsuda especially, and seems to derive distinct joy from doing this and from making them as uncomfortable as possible.
When we do get an inner monologue from L, it's often in a very different tone to how he speaks or what he was otherwise saying. There's no hammy speeches in there about justice always winning. No, his inner voice is very cold and very calculating and usually at odds with whatever he happens to be doing at the time.
My Theory: L is a Walking Breaching Experiment
L acts the way he does in part to a) throw his opponent off his game (in this case Light himself who is integrated into the investigation) b) because he enjoys watching people squirm.
A breaching experiment is essentially this, it's purposefully acting out in a way that defies societal norms and seeing what people will do in response. So L slouches, doesn't wear shoes in public, purposefully invades people's personal space, stares at people without blinking, handcuffs a man to himself and tells his overworked employees that this is totally necessary, eats utterly ridiculous foods, and more.
L likes to break the rules and watch what the ordinary people around him do. Usually, they don't disappoint.
#is this… not how most people see him? because I thought that was the whole point#death note#analysis
