When Connar was younger in the orphanage she was often moved around. Families wanted her, would take her, and eventually bring her back due to her odd or morbid behavior and this stuck with her. When Seto Kaiba and Mokuba decided to take her Connar's initial thought was

"Okay I have to get it right this time! Do anything and everything the best I can that way they'll never want to get rid of me"

Somewhere along those lines. So as a result she pushes herself incredibly hard and keeps a lot of things bottled up and packed down, keeping it tucked away so that nothing would risk her possibly losing her family and home again...
