Since the holiday toy drive post is circulating again, I figured this would also be helpful! Food insecurity is such a massive problem in America, in general, and if you have the means to help feed others, I think you should take that opportunity. Here are some other tips:

1. If you’re planning on donating items from your own pantry, please check the expiration dates on the packaging. Think of your donations as gifts to bestow, not castoffs to be rid of. It’s awful to think of people feeling like they got scraps someone else just didn’t want. Everyone deserves dignity with their meals.

2. If you’d rather give money to a food bank, that’s also great since they buy food in bulk and know what items are most wanted/needed!

3. Not everyone has access to appliances like stoves or microwaves or hot plates so if you can donate items that don’t need to be heated up, that would also be greatly appreciated!

I am by no means an expert but it seems to me “your body does not belong to you” is a major theme of right wing authoritarianism and, interestingly, modern USAmerican thinking. This underpins so much from abortion to forcing kids to hug their relatives. Your body belongs to the state, or God, or your husband, or your boss, or your doctor. Everything from trans and gay liberation to forcing autistic people to look in your eyes to making cashiers stand for no reason. Your body does not belong to you, but taking care of your body is your responsibility and your responsibility alone, and if you fail in some way, you deserve the consequences.

I DUNNO I just feel like everything I wanted to be into a kid but was too young to really grasp or understand it is dead now, or im just some weird poser who doesnt really know how to get into it. Retro game hardware/software is monumentally expensive, rare, and difficult to maintain now so my hobby is locked almost exclusively to my computer. Im disabled and dont have my own car nor do I know any people in person who I dont already live with so its not like I can go anywhere to hang out with people and get involved with any of it. On that note too: The rapid expansion of online marketplaces has killed off 90% of all physical real life places you could go to check out things like video games, computer/tech stuff, and most hobby stuff. The ones that do exist are usually strictly storefronts with no tolerance for people who wanna hang out unless its something like tabletop/tcg/wargames which I have like, very little interest in outside of TTRPGs which I ALSO mostly play online! Fuck man! No wonder I dont feel like theres anything to do when I dont feel like sitting at my desk alone and playing video games! There's barely anything to fucking do!!!! Everywhere is gone! The things Im interested in have been gutted and turned into capitalist shells wearing brand names that used to publish video games! Now they just make "content" to be bought forever for infinite money that really comes from destroying peoples lives! WOW! And on top of all this, Im just such a fucking burdensome person. I dont know how to hang out with people anymore, im too poor to have the things that are "supposed" to be played between friends these days (unless you want cozy uwu funny 3D wacky indie party game #3298321) and I just. It sucks. I suck. I wish I felt like I was enjoying my fucking hobby the right way, but no one talks to me, and I dont talk to anyone else, and I just want to dig a hole and stay in it until it all falls apart. We killed it all. Its all fucking dead. What the fuck do you do anymore.
