What Causes Your Audi Headlights to Dim While Driving From Experts in Los Angeles
Tumblr media
Whenever someone decides to buy a luxury car there are few brands that garner quick attention over the other ones. One such luxury car brand that is very popular across the globe is Audi. Audi is one of the most sought-after luxury cars in the entire world.
The popularity of Audi can be gauged from the number of these cars one gets to see on the road of Los Angeles. Your Audi comes equipped with many advanced features that help is the smooth running and better performance of the car. However, these features don’t make the Audi invincible to issues.
Like every other car out there, the Audi also has got its own fair share of issues that crop up from time to time. Most of the time it is seen that Audi Owners don’t take these issues seriously which causes more damages in the long run. One such issue that is completely ignored is the dimming of headlights while driving the car.
Here in this article, we will discuss the causes behind the dimming of headlights when you are driving your Audi.
Electrical faults
The dimming of the headlights when you are driving your Audi is a common problem that most people encounter at some point in their life. This is especially true depending on the age of the car or the age of certain parts of your Audi. If you observe that the lights are flickering, then it normally indicates that there is an electrical problem.
The type of electrical problem your Audi is encountering can vary from model to model. Most of the time it is very difficult to detect electrical problems in a car. This is why you must seek the assistance of a qualified mechanic in the first place for the early detection of the electrical problem.
Bad battery
The battery is one of the first components that you must think about when you experience headlights dimming in your car. You must take into account the age of your car battery and when was it last replaced. An old draining battery can be the reason behind your dimming lights.
If you are having an old battery in your Audi, then it is a good spot to start your investigation. You must get the battery tested by taking the Audi to an automotive repair shop. The battery testing will let you know how well the battery is holding a charge as well as how charged it is getting when full.
Old batteries are not able to hold a charge for a long time and drain faster than they can recharge while driving and this is why your lights can flicker or dim when driving.
Malfunctioning alternator
The alternator is responsible for charging the battery when the Audi is running and also to distribute power from the engine to the headlights and the radio. Whenever you see that the lights on the dashboard are flickering or dim when you are driving your car, then it indicates that the alternator is not recharging the battery.
This is caused due to a faulty or broken alternator or it might be related to problems in the alternator belt. Most of the time it is seen that the alternator will not fail completely but intermittently. The period when the alternator is not working is when the lights will dim or flicker while driving.
If you observe that the brake lights and the battery light illuminate at the same time, then this means that the alternator is going out.
Ground wires
If you see that the problem is not with the battery or the alternator, then the wiring connections in your Audi might be at fault. The wires are responsible for keeping the car grounded. If you are driving an older model of Audi, then there is a huge possibility that the wires might have started to come loose.
If that is the case, then it will cause the lights to flicker and it is a common problem if you notice the lights flickering when you hit a bump. If the wires are loose, then you can tighten them and this will solve the problem.
Finally
The above-discussed factors are some of the reasons behind the headlights of your Audi dimming when you are driving your car. If you ignore the problem it will get worse. Whenever you observe the headlights dimming and then take your Audi to a certified repair shop for diagnosing and fixing the issue.

Top 10 Signs Your Volkswagen Passat Transmission is Going Bad in Los Angeles
Tumblr media
For the smooth functioning of the Volkswagen engine, the transmission plays a vital part because it is multiplying the engine torque to provide the necessary power for spinning the wheels depending on the speed and load. As compared to the other components of the Volkswagen Passat, the transmission is going bad more frequently.
Knowingly or unknowingly, many drivers are ignoring the signs of failed or damaged transmission in a car. Before it fails, take them to an experienced and certified repair shop for enhancing the life of the transmission and save money. The following points define the signs of transmission issues in your Volkswagen Passat.
Shaking and jerking
When the transmissions have any troubles, you will experience shaking and jerking issues in your car. The failures of the automatic transmission are beginning with gear shifting issues. Due to these reasons, your Volkswagen can be trembling or shaking during shifting. Between the gears, the engine and transmission mounts are responsible for creating clunking and jerking. To determine the problem, you have to diagnose the issues by bringing your car to a mechanic.
Gear slipping
The gear slipping is a serious problem for both the car owners and the surrounding drivers as well as the pedestrians. When the brake of the car doesn't respond quickly or slips between the gears will create serious safety hazards while driving. Now the modern transmission has the features to prevent the driver from reckless driving with the failed transmission because it has a safe mode or limp mode. In these cars, the computer system will detect the problem of the transmission and need to get the car to a local transmission repair shop.
Strange sounds
Depending on the make and model, every car can produce different noises. When you will hear strange noises from the car, make sure that it has transmission failure. Damaged transmission in your Volkswagen will produce whining, humming, and buzzing sounds. At this stage, you have to diagnose the sound properly. If the noise is not normal, then you should take your Volkswagen Passat to a local transmission repair shop for fixing it.
Difficult to change gears
Many times, the car owner will experience a situation in which they are sitting in a car by starting the engine, but unable to move it. When the transmission won’t go into a specified gear and difficult to change while driving, make sure that it has a transmission issue. On the other hand, if your car won't run into gear, then it indicates several issues such as failed internal components, wrong transmission fluid, damaged clutch linkage, failed computer system, clogged filter, and broken sensors.
Produce noise in neutral
If your transmission is producing unusual sounds in neutral, then check it immediately. Thus, the bump or quake noises will indicate the time to change the automatic transmission fluid. When you will notice these issues, taking the car to a special repair shop is the most-effective and safe option.
Lack of response
When your Volkswagen refuses to shift into the proper gear, then ensure that it has problems in the transmission. Due to these situations, you will notice a delay in shifting from drive to park before the gear is engaged properly. In these cases, the required acceleration of the car is much lower than the sound of the engine and lead to transmission slipping. So, consult with a mechanic to fix the issues immediately.
Fluid leaking
The transmission fluid is the blood of the transmission that can lubricate all of its components to prevent overheating, decrease friction, and allow gear engagement. When the transmission is leaking, the transmission is operated with low fluid and cause overheating. Thus, leaking is the quickest way to break down the transmission. If the leaked fluid is black or dark brown and red color, then take to a mechanic as soon as possible for fixing.
Dragging clutch
The dragging clutch is a common transmission problem found in many cars. Due to these reasons, you will face many difficulties to change the gears. These issues generally occur when the flywheel and clutch disc is not disengaged whenever you pushed the clutch pedal. During gear shifting, the dragging clutches are also accompanied by grinding noise in your car.
Burning odor
The transmission fluid is overheating due to the breakdown of metallic components and sludge as well as clutch debris. You will notice a burning odor from your Volkswagen Passat when the transmission fluid is not flushed or serviced with over 100,000 miles. If the transmission is burning, it emits an acrid smell which is similar to the burning rubber smell. When the fluid gets extremely hot, it may observe the smoke.
Illuminated service engine light
The check engine light is illuminated on the dashboard when it has transmission issues in your Volkswagen. The service engine light is activated on the dashboard when it responds to the sensors inside the car and causes unusual vibrations while driving. It's always advisable to take the Volkswagen to a trustable repair shop for performing an accurate diagnosis and repair without having any issues.
Conclusion
The transmission plays an important role in the smooth functioning of the Volkswagen Passat. If you are visiting any cities of Los Angeles and facing transmission issues in your Volkswagen while driving on the road, then consult with a reputed mechanic for diagnosing the issues and fix it as soon as possible.

Reasons behind Your Cruise Control Not Working Properly
Nowadays, it is not at all surprising to see that cars are being equipped with advanced features for the ease of driving and also to provide passengers with a comfortable ride. These features have made driving easy and pleasurable. There are certain technologies being used in cars that are truly advanced and have taken driving to the next level. One such technology, which is being used in some high-end cars, is the cruise control.
The cruise control is very helpful for drivers going on a long drive. This lets you relax while the system takes control of the car. While the most advanced cruise control even lets the driver maintain a particular speed. When you are driving your car, you must have used your cruise control a countless number of times. However, cruise control is not immune to failure and when it fails; it can leave you in a sticky situation. A sudden malfunction can even endanger your life. Here in this article, we will discuss the reasons behind your cruise control not working properly.
Working mechanism
The primary role of the cruise control system is to maintain speed and distance between vehicles. The cars that are coming equipped with cruise control are using a full electronic setup to maintain speed and are also able to maintain the distance behind the car in front of them. The older cars are equipped with an electromechanical cruise control but the present generation of cars controls these systems through the vehicle's computer or Electronic Control Unit. In the electromechanical cruise control, a vacuum actuator is physically connected to the throttle by a cable or chain. The throttle position is increased or decreased by adjusting the cable, taking into consideration the actions of the actuator.
Reasons behind not working
There are various factors that affect the functioning of the cruise control. Here are the reasons behind the malfunctioning of the cruise control.
Problems in cruise control switch
The cruise control switch is the thing which sets your cruising speed. The information is transmitted to the engine control unit and cruise control module in order to sustain the acceleration speed. However, if the connections inside the cruise control switch wear out, then the module and the unit will not receive the necessary speed information it needs to keep the acceleration going. This is when the cruise control will stop working completely and will deactivate.
Issues in the brake pedal switch
The brake pedal switch is responsible to turn on the brake lights when it senses that the brake pedal has been pressed. The cruise control system of your car is designed to shut down when the brake pedal is pressed as they are connected to the brake pedal switch. If the brake pedal switch malfunctions or there is an issue, then the car will think that the brakes are engaged and that will not allow the cruise control system to turn on.
Malfunctioning speed sensor
The primary task of the speed sensor is to indicate the speed of the car, regulate the flow of the fuel and ignition timing and its most critical function is to operate the cruise control. If the speed sensor stops working, then the cruise control will also cease functioning. In addition to this, the engine will have more difficulty when idling, if the speed sensor stops working.
Damaged vacuum actuator
In the older cars the vacuum actuator along with a cable connected to the throttle is used to maintain the cruising speed when the cruise control system is activated. If you are driving an older car equipped with a cruise control, then the cruise control may stop working if the vacuum actuator malfunctions or there is damage to the vacuum hoses. Moreover, the system will fail if the cable connecting the actuator to the throttle gets broken.
Failing fuse
Like the other electronic systems in your car, the cruise control has a fuse attached to it which blows up to protect the system when it experiences a short circuit. If there is a short circuit in your car, then the fuse will blow out and the cruise control will stop working.
Finally
The above-discussed factors are the reasons behind the malfunctioning of the cruise control system. Most drivers neglect in taking their car to a mechanic when they see that the cruise control system has stopped working. However, if you have a failing cruise control system, then take your car to a repair shop to fix the system immediately.

Need for New Spark Plugs for Your BMW
Tumblr media
The spark plugs play a vital role in the ignition system of your BMW car. It is an electrical device that emits a small spark required to ignite the mixture of air and fuel for the combustion needed to start the car.
On the basis of the relative operating temperature range of the tip of the high tension electrode, is divided into two types.
One is a hot spark plug which has a long heat transfer path and more area is exposed to the combustion gases.
Another type is a colder spark plug which has a short heat transfer path and a very small area gets exposed to the combustion gases.
 Functions of the spark plug
Electrical energy is transmitted through the spark plug, jumping the gap in the plugs firing end when the plug receives a sufficient amount of voltage. This electrical spark ignites the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber.
Spark plugs cannot create heat, they can only remove heat. The temperature of the end of the plug's firing end must be kept low enough to prevent pre-ignition, but high enough to prevent fouling. The spark plug works as a heat exchanger by pulling unwanted thermal energy from the combustion chamber and transferring heat to the engine cooling system.
Signs of a weak spark plug in your BMW
It helps in the uninterrupted movement of the car, good combustion, higher fuel economy, improved performance, and low emission of gases. But a failing plug can cause the engine not to start at all.
So, it is important to be aware of the most common signs and symptoms that your car shows due to a worn spark plug.
Poor acceleration
Weak spark plugs often result in a lack of acceleration in your BMW car. You may be pressing hard down the foot, but not getting the required power to go ahead of the front vehicle.
A spark plug is made up of different components that work together to produce the spark for ignition. But when these small parts wear out, the effectiveness of the spark plug is reduced and greatly hampers the acceleration of the car.
Engine surging & misfiring
When your car begins to start and stop on its own and then it affects you’re driving and the vehicle slows down after every jerk. This mainly happens because the engine inhales more air, which interrupts the acceleration of the BMW car.
Engine misfire causes the vehicle to halt for a fraction of a second and then get back to its normal movement. An engine runs smoothly only when all its cylinders are fired up by the spark plugs at the same time. But if a single cylinder is not ignited due to its faulty spark plug, then it causes the engine to misfire.
Rough idling
A normal engine remains quiet and smooth while idling, but if there are any issues with the spark plug, it can make your engine harsh and loud.
The most common sign of a bad spark plug is when the engine stumbles and there is also an increase in vibration of the BMW car.
Poor fuel economy
If your BMW car is giving low mileage, then it is definitely related to the bad functioning of the spark plugs. While working properly, spark plugs help burn the fuel in the combustion cycle, giving you a better fuel economy.
In a worn out spark plug, the gap between the plug electrodes gets increased or decreased and in either of these conditions can adversely affect the engine's fuel economy and exhaust emissions.
Starting problem
As the spark plugs are responsible for igniting the fuel combustion and  their malfunctioning gives rise to severe starting problems. There is also the possibility of battery drainage due to faulty spark plugs.
If only they are running bad, then there is some chance that after several attempts, your car may agree to move from its place, but if the battery is also down, then be prepared to visit your service station to fix these issues.
