i remember when red adult form was revealed and the whole of internet went wild because he was so buff. compared to other protags.

anyways these myths are the reason half the time people are scared of pokemon.

For Kamado while he is not the most astute, he observes more then people give him credit for. for reasons, so many reasons he is the leader of this village until someone more suitable takes over, his astute observation is certain in that he is not well liked with how he does things.

it is obvious, some would not bother to hide it.

"I don't care what you do unless it threatens this village or any others. But be more honest with yourself, at the very least if you respect yourself even a little."

"In my old home, The gods smile upon honesty."

"...slacking?"

Oop. Okay. Lifting an eyebrow, the merchant's smiling expression turned into a much more surprised one.

"I guess people aren't used to see me, well... taking a nap, every now and then. I swear, that guy at the mochi place keeps his restaurant open all day and night... so I'm not surprised someone like him thinks so."

He'd much rather focus on that pointless chitchatting, but Kamado had different plans. Powerful friends? For a second, Volo hesitated, almost wondering if the commander knew more than he wanted him to--

"...what can I say? I use the tools I got!"

--just to let out a soft sigh, returning to smile as calmly as ever. There's no way he had any suspicion, even if he was, from his point of view, quite the paranoid fellow.

"Fairy and Dragon-type Pokèmon are very powerful, after all. Even if they're still small, they actually could take down much stronger ones!" and then, under his breath, but still loud enough to make sure Kamado could hear: "If you know how to use them, anyway."

"I'm sure you are the pinnacle of a good merchant as well. But it seems a lot of people have been seeing you slacking."

After all who has the time to keep going on hikes to areas where no one ever goes and doing something, but his sources are always too spread out to make sense of anything.

"You must have powerful ...friends."

"The world out there is as dangerous as ever" he kept smiling, waving his hand in dismissal "but you'd be surprised how far a simple Togepi and a Gible can take you!"

And a handful more of much more ferocious beasts he kept well hidden under his coat. Kamado didn't have to know them, he'd probably just pop a nerve or something like that.

"Travelling around against all odds and dangers is a merchant's job, after all -- just how protecting the village is yours! I'm certain you're doing a stellar job about it, despite everything."

...was that a passive aggressive comment? A bit of a sarcastic one, perhaps? Who knows, his tone and smile were as jovial as ever, after all!

in truth there were far too many problems happening to care about the efforts of one person who was only here to gain a profit. sure it would be beneficial if there were more people but the deaths were outweighing the benefits right now. for now. there was much to be done.

"Have you been safe so far? I've been hearing quiet a bit of disturbing rumors."

"Oh? Me?"

Well. Chipper maybe is an exaggeration, but things were going particularly well, lately. Ecountering gods, managing to mess with time and space, hopefully finally getting the attention of the Creator... it was hard to keep in an actual, genuine smile for once.

"Well, can you blame me? The more people come to Jubilife, the more merch I can sell, the richer the village gets... and the cycle continues!

Hopefully my own good mood won't sour yours, commander?"

As if he gave a crap about that.
