NAME : INFINITE , [PATIENT] ZERO [he/him] AGE : Mid 20s to early 30s. SPECIES : Jackal AFFILIATION : Jackal Squad [FORMERLY], Eggman Army PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES : Infinite is rather vain in his appearance. Though he often wears his mask, when he is not wearing it, he enjoys using ear piercings and necklaces. Some of this vanity is still present through the gold in his uniform, the bracelets on his arms. Part of his left ear is missing, and he has a scar across his left eye that reaches his top lip from a mission gone wrong a long time ago, when he still had his family around. The incident cost him one of his canines, easily replaced with a golden tooth. He sports a scar across his muzzle and across his chest, underneath the spot the Phantom Ruby lodged itself in. Infinite is often quick in his illusions, taking a preference for illusions of blades and guns, often changing scenery to fit a certain narrative and cause his victims a sense of vertigo or provoke further fear, helplessness, confusion, or all at once. He may find fun in keeping numerous victims stuck in one single illusion for days at a time before giving the final blow. He's got a lot of time, these days. Parts of him seem to phase in and out of existence, even if only for a few seconds.

POWERS : Can bend reality to his will-- as long as he is thinking about it, of course. Infinite is adept at making illusions that look, sound, and feel real-- and will often use this to torture the resistance. His helmet's ears can change color from white to black to white to black, to confuse and scare people; much like how a squid might flash its colors. It feels almost hypnotizing. He seems specially fond of close combat, and tends to create knives and traps for the populace to fall into. He tries to be creative in his craft.

WEAKNESSES : ? ? ? Strike Sphinx, destabilize target. Ruby on chest, though hard to get a hold of when the Unit is around. If you want to take out Infinite, you HAVE to take out his shield source. Having personal encounters with Shadow and Sonic while Sphinx is around also seems to send target into shock. DO NOT ABUSE THIS. Target becomes impossible to predict.

PERSONALITY : Infinite can be quite an unpredictable character. He is often cold and calculating, but anger is fast to blind and guide his actions. He has a hard time showing affection through actions, and even through words it proves to be more of a thought-out task than something natural. His patience is often reserved to Sphinx, and situations reguarding Sphinx. He can be rather protective of what he thinks is his, and will often panic when himself and Sphinx are in a battlefield against Sonic or Shadow. He has a very frail grip on reality. His memory often fails him in regards to past events, and he can be quite stuck in the past he doesn't remember. His memory of his squad is missing many pieces, and their voices/faces tend to come to him in waves of grief. Despite his species' often loner status, he has a hard time working alone and being alone, even though he tends to do both often, out of fear of putting his shield unit in harm's way. He has a specific hatred for both Shadow and Sonic, which also sometimes translates to fear and fascination. Infinite doesn't quite remember that every time he asks what happened to his squad, Dr. Eggman's answer is different.

In this AU, Infinite's background is different.

First and foremost, he finds the Phantom Ruby before Eggman ever even detects it. He keeps it on his person throughout missions without ever really figuring out what it does (just keeping it as a cool, shiny trinket more than anything).

During a raid to an active Eggman base, they underestimate the defenses and both Infinite and his squad die. In this AU, the Phantom Ruby can be almost said to be sentient, so it lodges itself onto Infinite's chest and revives him. As a set back, he does not remember who was responsible for his squad's misfortune.

He is found shortly after by Dr. Eggman, who is wondered by the power within the ruby. He takes full advantage of Infinite's confusion and recent memory loss, making up a story about how Team Dark took the best out of them and left them for dead. The Dr. then offers to find out what the stone is, and Infinite isn't in the correct state to deny.

As experiments are run, Eggman finds that Infinite cannot stay without the ruby for extended periods of time. When without it, he stays in a state between there and not quite-- both physically and mentally. Once that was figured out, physical tests begun-- and another obstacle was hit. Infinite finds it hard to not command a squad and not having someone watching his back.

He attempts to create his lost pack through the power of the ruby, but he seems to be unable to remember them quite right, and seeing them causes extreme distress and eventually a complete power shut down. To solve the problem, Eggman comes up with an easy solution: the fabrication of a team member.

He tries it with his robots, with Metal Sonic, with new creations-- but nothing seems to work. Either his robots do not respond to Infinite's commands the way he wants them to, or do not respond verbally, or are simply too fragile and easy to hit. Eventually an AI is created, who behaves in an unpredictable manner and responds in an organic fashion, and can defend itself from harm as well as defend Infinite himself.

The war itself has not ended. Within my RP storyline, we are in the middle of it-- right after Sonic has been captured. Within the AU, the war goes on for over a year, and Sonic is captive for 3/5 of that time.
