I wasn’t the only one who saw the world turn grey that day. My mom, my dad, they did too. I remember every moment of the last month with you. I remember you, my mom and dad, returning from having dinner together and you not feeling well. I remember sleeping on the floor when you all returned with no good news. I remember my mom devoting herself to you. I remember you gentle caresses and kisses. I remember the way you’d put me to bed by scratching back, taking me back to my childhood. I remember watching you enjoy the breakfast my mom made you every morning. I remember you watching Sabado Gigante with a smile on your face. I remember changing your nail polish everyday in the pearliest lacquer I found. Then the memories get harder. I remember your skin changing colors. I remember brushing your delicate hair, only to break down crying in the alleyway. I remember being in the hospital with you, as you just lay there and I paint your nails for that one last time. I remember the pink walls on the room and the large get well soon card in the corner. I feel like I remember it all. And I’ll take the good with the bad as long as I can always remember your voice and your warm embrace.
