- “I was told that time is finite.

“No matter the paths taken, the amount of chances granted, the numerous possibilities that may exist for ourselves, time is finite. Time will end as it will with everyone. No path will alter the ending of time as time doesn’t hold exceptions for anything or anyone. Time is finite and only time can have the final say.

“I am one with the laws of time. Right now, I can see endless timelines being played from the very beginning to the very end. They all seem so different, feel so different… It's a shame that seeing their timeline end reminds me of the previous ones I took interest in. It also reminds me that the next one I’ll stumble upon will also hold that same ending as every other timeline that ran its course. I see this everyday, every minute, every second… The same ending over and over…

“As a rule for being with the laws of time, you cannot alter time. No matter the personal desires or importance of the greater good, time will remain as is. Time is finite, after all, and although one can enter another time, we cannot change the predestined ending. It’s forbidden to entertain such ideas as doing so will create great calamity and hold serious consequences for the one in violation. We may go with the respective timeline, live its course, witness events to come, leave once satisfied and possibly return if we so choose - altering time is forbidden. That law is also finite.

“Learning the importance of time and the laws that accompany it is vital if you’re to have access to timelines of the past, present, future and alternatives. I don’t belong in one as my timeline is of stagnation. Our time ends when the very fragments of time itself reach its end. We don’t die through natural causes as those bound by their timeline nor are we born through traditional human interactions - you know which I speak of. I simply reside in a realm where hourglasses surround my room, displaying the remaining time of which I hold interest in. The hourglasses differ in size and sand remaining from the upper side of the glass. Their speed of descent also differs as some can take years for one drop of sand to enter the bottom half. Another could finish its hourglass within mere moments if held on for an hour at most if it’s to reach completion sooner than others. Once an hourglass finishes, I remove it from my room. There’s an area where completed hourglasses are stored, carefully placed where it can remain without any disturbance from outside. Although we’re meticulous with how we place each expired hourglass, the dull gray coloring can make it difficult to differentiate which timeline is which. Their individual sizes remain but they’re no different from their completed counterparts - all expired.

“I want to show you this: an hourglass! Looks different from what you saw, yes? You can say that this is my hourglass… or rather, my own source of time. Since I’m able to enter timelines with ease, I can live as if I’m part of the timeline itself. The only way to achieve that is through this hourglass that I have. It… doesn’t look like a traditional hourglass, right? Its shape of a translucent diamond gives the illusion of a gemstone that’s to be worn as a pendant. That’s why you saw when you pointed out my pendent, unaware of its true nature. No worries, I won’t hold you responsible for learning such a secret of mine. If anything, I’m sharing this with the intent of you owning one of your own. Don’t look surprised - humans are allowed to wear this as much as gods are allowed, mythical creatures included. I mean, I may not be one but at first glance, I’m every bit of a human as you are! I just hold a different… aura that mortals don’t possess. You sensed it before, yes?

“Now, before we depart, we’ll need to return back to your timeline. I’ve some obligations that need tending to. I see that you too have obligations of your own that you've been putting off - so shameful! No worries, once we’re finished, we’ll return back here before embarking on another timeline. There’s some that are to begin in due time and we can’t delay any more than already. Now, close your eyes and hold my hands. We’ll begin returning to your time, your world… When you're ready, let me know when we can return.
