Evaluation
I think I jumped into my final outcome and I could have made it flow a bit better from my research to my video. There was very little connection to the final outcome but the research and experimental videos were nicely linked together.
The video was not the best quality. Part of it will be down to the camera and part of it to my editing skills. I was planning to use dragonframe4 which was the software that the producers of Kubo used but unfortunately, I was unable to successfully connect my camera to the computer. Because of this, I used the same editor as when I did my stop motion drawing. It was a simple process to record the videos, but I recorded them individually and so I had to transfer them onto a separate software to merge them. This is when I used DaVinci Resolve. With this app I could zoom in on particular sections and do colour correcting and all sorts. I attempted to do the colour correcting and my video definitely looks better with it than without it, but it is really no the best. If I had prioritized my time better, I could have spent more time learning how to use the software and develop my understanding of it, which could also have helped me in the future.
The research was very minimal but not necessarily lacking, and I had responses to the research throughout. The captions show my understanding of what the video has showed me and then I try my best to apply what I have learnt from the video to my own attempt. I could have attempted to make the response as similar as possible to show how much of the video I just watch I understood by almost re-creating it. I successfully referenced each video in Harvard format too which is an improvement from my previous project.
I believe this is the shortest, project we have had so far and it really shows because of the lack of development of the final outcome. I think that the main thing I have to improve for the future is my time management because almost all of it was done within the last week.

This is my final outcome. Other than the quality of the video, it turned out quite well with semi-smooth transitions. Most of it flowed and had frame differences small enough to make it a smooth sailing video.

Proposal
Section 1: Rationale
I can use Photoshop pretty well meaning that I will be able to edit frames in stop motions to make the viewer question how I did it. Also, I have a tripod and canon camera so I could take a really smooth video, whether stop motion or time-lapse. I have previously done work on video editing software to help my dad with his YouTube videos.
Section 2: Project Concept
I plan on doing a doughnut advert. I would use a mix of stop motion and normal video. It would start with me doing a title screen using the box that the doughnuts came in through a normal video. Then, I would start using stop motion and open up the box, after that, I could do each doughnut spinning individually. Next, I could do a slow motion of the doughnuts falling one by one with a back drop. And then I could have one doughnut coming in from each corner of the screen and they could spin in a circle and then one gets left behind to get eaten as the others run away.
Section 3: Evaluation
The previous evaluation process worked quite well, so I will check up every week and if there is anything lacking, I will go back on that on the Monday or Sunday to finish it off or correct it and then I will carry on to the next section of the process.

This is the video from my friends phone as my camera quality is not the best. I really cant see any way o use slow motion professionally as the quality is terrible by the end of the process almost all the time.

Slow Motion
The Slow Mo Guys (2018) How fast does glass crack? - The Slow Mo Guys [online video] Available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIMVge5TYz4 [11/03/2020]
Slow motion is phenomenal when you are unable to see it with a naked eye and because of the technology these guys have, it looks great! It’s pretty clear that I am not going to have the same camera or equipment as them, but my phone does have a slow motion video setting on it.

These were my attempts at prefect timing photos. I think they turned out quiet well. I really like this method of capturing life because this is where the phrase “less is more” is used at its best because these images look so much more majestic as images than as boomerangs or videos or slow motions

This is an incredible shot taken Baiju Patil which would have been completely different a split second later. It really was perfect timing.

For me, the issue wasn’t the focus of the camera, it was my position and my hair getting in the frame.
I can’t easily see a way to use a timelapse unless it is the main focus of the video or a transition.

Time lapse

In this video the lense keeps on going out of focus, so that maybe a difficulty that I may need to watch out for when making my drawing timelapse.

As you can see, my accuracy wasn’t the best at times, also to start with, I didn’t have a tripod or a camera stand so it all looked very unprofessional. however, I do like using stop motion to record things because of the fact that you could redo 1 or 2 frames and not mess up the whole video. Also, you could edit stands and things like that out easier with photoshop that we learnt previously instead of having to learn a whole new software just to make something fly. This also means that it is one of the freest ways to record things creatively.

Stop Motion, Coraline

This video shows how refined your work has to be for the frame flow to look good and to seem smooth. While this is on a much larger scale than what I will be working with, it doesn’t mean accuracy is any less important or crucial.
