Motifs.
Using 4 counts of 8 we created both a motif for us and a motif to teach someone else.

Prop Stimulus.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrt147C0cN4&feature=youtu.be
Using chance stucture the lesson before this, everyone wrote an object/prop onto a small piece of paper and put into a cup. The cup was then shaken and all the pieces of paper were thrown on the floor. Each person then had to go up and take a piece of paper and use this to get an object and use as a stimulus. I got 'A Top Hat'.
We were asked to explore the object to the fullest with all senses and then use these to portray in an improvised dance.
I decided that I was going to move away from the idea of putting a hat on and actually become the hat. In my piece I curved over alot and used my fingers as a gesture for rain. I wanted to portray protection. Even though the rain is such a innocent thing most people want to get away from it as quick as possible. I also thought about not just disliking the rain but also seeing it in its natural beauty, as a child most kids love to play out in the rain therefor i made my last section (run and fall) into more of playful, splashing in the rain scene. I also thought of the sort of character that would wear this type of hat and tried to include that by holding my posture like a proud business man from the Victorian era as that is the first thing that came to mind when I though of whom might just wear this hat.
Over all I think I though well and hard to see not just the hat and use this in dance. I think if we had more time it could of been a really nice piece, and to improve this I will try to work faster next time in coming up with this.

Videos of Canons.
In this lesson we were introduced to a technique in danced often used in larger groups called canon. There are 4 different types of canon;
Simultaneous canon, where dancers go at different times and delay there start and pick up from wherever the routine is at the time.
Cumulative canon, Where dancers start the sequence one after another.
Simple canon, Where one lot of dancers finish the section and then another lot starts.
Loose canon, all dancers starting the routine whenever they like from start to finish.

Adding a Motif to your canon
My motif was height and jumps, I tried to use my style to embellish the given routine.
