Best Overall: Cuisinart 14-Cup Glass Carafe Programmable Coffeemaker
If what you crave is getting up with a cool coffee pot every morning, then a better option is a programmable coffee pot. The stainless steel frame of this machine allows you to blend it in with your kitchen decor without being blind in sight.
Up to one to four cups can be made and raised to 14 cups, making it good for families who drink little or a lot. Our reviewers found this feature really helpful, because they generally don't make more than four cups each morning.

Another important feature is the temperature control. At the touch of a button, you can set the jug temperature to low, medium, or hot. Our review said that the strength and temperature of the coffee was exactly as expected each time.
The 24-hour program setting allows you to prepare your drink the next day when the current day ends, and it automatically stops from 0 to 4 hours, so you won't have to worry if you leave the house, with the travel mug on hand. The reusable GoldTone filter eliminates the need for cumbersome paper filters, saving you an early morning trip to the store. Did we mention the self-cleaning function?

A legend of the French Press origin
The French press is called, so it must be French, right? Surprisingly, both the French and the Italians discussed the origins of a coffee machine that uses a metal lid or fabric installed on a bar that presses ground coffee in a bowl of hot water. According to a legend dating back to 1850, he was a Frenchman on a daily picnic, preparing a cup of coffee over open fire, who first prepared coffee this way, although it was just an accident.
Tumblr media
It was so little: he was a Frenchman boiling his water when he realized he had forgotten to put coffee. Once added, ground coffee came to the surface of the boiling pot. He wanted to keep the only part of the coffee that was with him, and bought a piece of metal from a passing Italian dealer. Using the screen over the boiling pot, use a stick to press the screen down, along with the ground coffee. And how was the coffee? I had hoped it was terrible, but the result turned out to be the best coffee the two men had tasted. An accident led to the discovery of a new way to brew coffee.

Brewing coffee with a moka pot
The boiler (marked A in the diagram) is almost filled with water to the safety release valve (some models have an embossed water-level indication) and the metal filter is inserted as a funnel (B). Ground coffee is precisely added to the filter as shown below. Then the upper part (C, which has a second metal filter at the bottom) is strongly bent at the base. The pot is placed in a suitable heat source, and the water is brought to a boiling point and thus steam is generated in the boiler.
youtube
The gasket secures the hermetically sealed unit and allows pressure to accumulate safely in the lower section, as the safety valve provides the necessary release if this pressure is too high (with clean filters, it should not happen).
Tumblr media
The steam eventually reaches a pressure high enough to gradually push the boiling water around the funnel through the coffee powder into the upper chamber (C), where the coffee is collected. Although the "boiler" in the mocha bowl contains steam at high temperature and pressure, the forced water through the soil is not hotter than that used in other preparation methods, up to 90 ° C, depending on the stage of extraction.
When the lower chamber is almost empty, the steam bubbles mix with the upstream water, resulting in characteristic gargle noise. This "strombolian phase" allows a mixture of steam and water to pass through the coffee, which results in undesirable results, and thus fermentation must be stopped by removing the pot from the stove once this stage is reached.
