For the Nectar skin some of the newer phosphoricons don't work when adding them. Is there a way to add them to the skin so that they will? :)

for total transparency, this is happening with both of my two most recent skins because phosphor updated to 2.0 in march, and made some pretty significant + breaking changes 🥹

if you're trying to use a very new icon (i.e. it's literally tagged as "new" on the phosphor site) then it won't be possible to use it with nectar (or pretty places) without upgrading to 2.0.

if the icon isn't necessarily that new, it might be available without upgrading. you won't be able to copy and paste it directly from the phosphor site, though. instead, i would recommend manually changing the icon's name (e.g. just switching the word "lightning" to something else, rather than swapping out the entire <i> tag).

if you would like to upgrade to 2.0, i think there are two options:

you can try to support both 1.0 and 2.0 at the same time. you can do this by adding the script from the "vanilla web" section of the documentation to your board wrappers. this way, most of the existing icons on the skin won't need to be touched at all, but you can use new icons and copy icons directly from phosphor. the caveat with this approach is that a select few icons may show up as a different icon. unfortunately for nectar, one of the select few is the lightning bolt 🥲 so that's going to have to be removed and replaced if you take this route! i haven't tried it with pretty places.

you can fully upgrade to 2.0. you would do this by adding the script linked above to the board wrappers, but this time you'd also remove the existing phosphoricons script, and you would have to manually update each icon in the skin to use the new syntax. you don't have to manually copy and paste each one from the site — it's quicker to just rearrange the code yourself — but it's obviously still quite a bit of work.

i do recognize that this is likely a bit annoying and restrictive for people using my skins, so i have decided to update the nectar and pretty places skin and template files to phosphor 2.0. i'm hoping to have this done by mid-september. everyone who already owns the skins will be notified they can download new versions.

for those who have made significant changes to the board wrappers, html templates or dohtml templates, or want to have the update earlier, updating on your own may still be the best option (if you want the upgrade). feel free to shoot me a discord message if you need more guidance, but hopefully this post clears some things up!

would you ever take commissions again?

i don't see myself taking commissions for exclusive skins again, but i have thought about doing template commissions and/or commissioned multi-sales in the future!

hello! i absolutely love all of your skins. they're always gorgeous, well coded and easy to work with, and the instructions are just *chef's kiss*. i did have a question though: in the future, do you think you'd consider adding fizzyelf's thread tracker to your main profiles?

I'm on two sites that use Pretty Places. I love the skin so much, from the look of it, to how beautiful and clean your coding is, to how easy your documentation is to follow. It makes me indescribably happy that I get to write on two different sites, in two completely different genres, that use it. Thank you again for creating it and your other codes. Heya Teal! I adore your skins, and have purchased a couple, although I did have a small question before going ahead with a passion project I’ve been sitting on.

We are quite in love with the All of Your Glory skin, as we’ve gotten it to fit our site’s vibe perfectly. Is there any hope for getting a profile application update for it in the future? Alternatively if no, would it be alright to try to commission a third party to make matching profile applications? (I seriously hope that’s not disrespectful to ask. I genuinely do NOT mean to step on toes or express any disappointment whatsoever.) I’ve just been wanting to do away with shipper app sections to streamline the site and take a little work off the moderation team going forward. If not, that’s totally okay and I may just take the time to convert us to Pretty Places instead. ❤️

Hello I have a question about a skin my RP group bought from you (love it fyi!!!) we bought pretty places and we are trying to set it up, but we noticed a box we ‘think’ is for badges that we want to change to be anything but. It’s in the bio page, last one on the right. Is it possible to make that an image or text spot. We have been trying to figure it out but can’t. Any help would be great

apologies for the late response! that box is for awards, and you can change it by going to main profile html template, looking for the bit that says <!-- |awards| -->, and replacing it with another profile field. depending on what exactly you want to replace it with (image or images or text) you may need to update the css a bit — feel free to shoot me a dm with the specifics and i can point you in the right direction.

hey! i was planning to create a dark version at some point, but i've shelved that for the time being. i've seen others create their own dark or toggleable versions of the skin by changing the colour variables though so that's totally doable, if you'd want to give it a shot!

Hi Teal! I a while back purchased the Pretty Places skin from you. It's amazing and I love it. As a heads up, Phosphor Icons just recently switched their icon pack from phosphor-icons to @phosphor-icons/web. This broke all the icons that currently are in the skin. I've managed to get everythign else to move over expect the Edit, Delete & Quote Buttons. I have no idea how to make them functionable now. Any suggestions you may have to fix this, I would be eternally greatful for.

hey, i apologize for the late response! to my knowledge, phosphor icons restored their original script within a day or two of updating to the new one — my own pretty places site still uses the old script link and is working, so hopefully the same goes for you!

one thing to note is that phosphor's documentation has been updated, and the new version doesn't apply, so it's best to refer to the old version for anyone using nectar or pretty places for the first time. this also means it's no longer ideal to copy and paste directly from phosphor if you're updating any icons on the skin. if you need help with that, feel free to shoot me a dm so i can explain in depth! 🥹
