Post semi-final reflections ( 25 Nov Mt Smart Stadium, AKLD NZ)

What a Blessing to witness such solidarity amongst Tongans in this 2017 RLWC. Perhaps Mate Ma’a Tonga was not sent to us to win this Rugby League World Cup but to unite us. For Tonga, our faith in God to lead our destiny is shown by our acceptance of things happen for a reason. During a very difficult political time where our Kingdom was divided we found common ground with MMT. On Saturday at the semi-final, The stadium erupted when we saw our beloved King on the big screen. The common feeling in the stadium was shared around the world. We no longer criticised our sports leaders, thought ill of our Prime Minister or questioned our King’s actions; we looked upon our King, cheered with tears of graditude for these fellow Tongans; thankful to experience a moment of what the epitome of being Tongan is. This is the most important achievement this team has given us. Thank you God for sending us #MMT to restore Love and Unity. This is only the beginning of many historic changes to come. Thank you to our Pioneers of the game and George Mann for taking the game to Tonga. I was happy to see the original logo used again in this 2017 RLWC. Who would have known this struggling sport in Tonga would be the vehicle for unifying our Kingdom and fellow Tongans around the world. 

We can’t do anything divided, Mate Ma’a Tonga reminded us together we can overcome the difficult and be great as one. Thank you Mate Ma’a Tonga, you have done more than just elevate the game and create aspirations. Your purpose far exceeded wininng an International.  Faka’apa’apa atu.
