“preschool. i don’t have much experience with kids any older than like, seven. and elementary schoolers drive me nuts so i went with something more my style. i worked at a daycare center through my last two years of high school and we had a lot of preschoolers there after they got out of school and i fell in love with them,” she said. “i can’t deal with the gross factor. i would be a horrible doctor. i’m too big a baby for all that.” sayler nodded with a small smile. “thanks. me too. i’m hoping for painless, but i wouldn’t count myself so lucky.”

“That’s extremely admirable. Most people don’t have patience for kids under the age of seven.” Elijah commented with a chuckle.  “I don’t think I could handle preschool kids, or babies. Babies make me nervous.” They seemed so fragile to him. “I guess there’s a reason not everyone is cut out to be a doctor, and the gross factor probably has something to do with that. “I’m sure after a few weeks of having him in your arms, you’ll forget all about the pain, and any grossness that comes with childbirth.”

"i'm always tired. my boyfriend's mom is always like "the baby isn't even born yet how can you be tired all the time" but growing a human takes energy."

“i think my cat has super powers,” she said out of the blue as she tapped her pencil’s eraser against her notebook. “like, i keep the baby’s room closed all the time, but i always find gizmo in his crib. you think he’s like, a jedi ninja type cat and opens the door with his mind?”

brooke laughed at the other, shaking her head. “honestly, sayler. i doubt that. maybe you just don’t shut it all the way when you think you do. you have to be tired by that time, right?” she asked, suggesting something other than worldly powers.

“i could never be a doctor. being a teacher is stressful enough, i could never imagine being a doctor that like… heals and brings people back to life. the street cred would be lit, though,” she said. “i wanted everything completely natural. hospitals freak me out a little. but i’d be more comfortable in my own house, my own bed, my own surroundings. and the only hospital that takes my insurance has this policy that says if the baby’s head isn’t out within five minutes of pushing then they do an episiotomy whether mom wants it or not. it’s pretty bullshit. so that really drove me away from having a hospital birth. i’ll be damned if anybody tells me how i have to have my baby unless it’s an emergency c-section.”

“What grade do you teach?” Elijah asked with a soft smile. “You’d basically be treated like a modern day god if you were able to heal and bring someone back to life. Maybe in another life I would have been a great doctor, but in this life i’m far more interested in starting a non-profit.” The ginger male shrugged. He listened carefully as she explained her reasoning behind wanting a home birth, though he knew he would never personally give birth, he admired her wanting to have the best for her son. “That’s amazing. I don’t know how many people who would fight for what’s right for their child. I hope you have a quick, and safe delivery.”

“Are you scared? I would be shaking in my boots if I was about to have a baby.”

“the baby’s not here yet, but i’m sure he’ll be attached. he likes to lay against my stomach. he like... plays with him. when he was kicking, gizmo would bat at my stomach because he’d get kicked. cutest think on earth.”

“I love ‘untold stories of the er’, when I in middle school I used to rush home after school just to watch it.” he confessed with a smile. “Wow, you could literally go into labor right this second. I’m sure you’ll be a great mom.”

“same. my parents told me i was gonna have nightmares cause i was kind of a hypochondriac,” she said. sayler nodded. “i sure could, i’m hoping it’s a smooth labor, but he’s my first, so i probably won’t have such luck. i’m having a home birth, so i know it’s gonna be rougher on me.”

“I would get bored out of my mind if I was stuck in my house all the time. I mean there are so many cute boys and girls out there to kiss, and so many adventures to be had.” Sofia shrugged. “Call me dramatic but i’d rather choke.” 

“i’m pretty much a homebody. i’m not very mobile these days because it’s hard to get around, so i wouldn’t mind it, but i’m sure i’d get tired of it eventually.”

“it’d be a great edition of ‘untold stories of the er’ too,” she said with a small laugh. “i just hit forty weeks, so literally any time. i get more and more nervous as the days get closer.”
