One of the largest #monkey species native to #Asia, males have a head-body length of 66 to 76.2 cm (26.0 to 30.0 in) and typically weigh 16 to 22.5 kg (35 to 50 lb). Females are smaller. Further adding to the dimorphism is the large nose or proboscis of the male, which can exceed 10.2 cm (4.0 in) in length, and hangs lower than the mouth. Theories for the extensive length of their #nose suggest it may be sexual selection by the females, who prefer louder vocalisations, with the size of the nose increasing the volume of the call. #wildlife #borneo #malaysia #primates https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwnk-kLlouv/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=92saplbs9wc4

#Lake #Botos is part of #CostaRica's #Poas #Volcano #NationalPark, it's the southern lake and it fills an #inactive #crater, which last erupted in 7500 BC. It is cold and clear, and it’s surrounded by a #cloud #forest within the National Park boundaries.⠀ #ExploreCostaRica #cloudforest https://www.instagram.com/p/BpOFdRYghHz/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=u7kwa33ogfmw

You can’t let your father’s mistakes define who you are. You get to decide what kind of king you are going to be.

This is probably what is left from #mount #Pinatubo volcano's Ultra Plinian eruption on June 15, 1991 produced the second-largest terrestrial eruption of the 20th century. Complicating the eruption was the arrival of Typhoon Yunya (Diding), bringing a lethal messy mix of ash and rain to towns and cities surrounding the volcano. Predictions at the onset of the climactic eruption led to the evacuation of tens of thousands of people from the surrounding areas, saving many lives. Surrounding areas were severely damaged by pyroclastic surges, ash falls, and subsequently, by the flooding lahars caused by rainwater re-mobilizing earlier volcanic deposits. This caused extensive destruction to infrastructure and changed river systems for years after the eruption. Down there you can see where we parked the cars before starting to hike up to the volcano.
