New website, new blog!
Welcome to my new look website! I’m delighted it’s been given a fresh new look and I hope you like it as much as I do! Many thanks to RaggedDesign for all their hard work over the last few months. I’m also pleased to announce my new blog to keep you up to date with all my latest news. You can follow the blog on Tumblr - CMacD82 – or come back here to see what I’ve been up to.
The summer was an extremely busy time and I got to work with some amazing people. July kicked off with my choir, The Landmarks Singers, giving a stupendous summer concert at the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington, giving a varied programme of pop, folksong, gospel, and world music. The end of July saw my Encore Summer School take place in Berrylands. Now in it’s 4th year, it continues to go from strength to strength and this year saw recitals by two young artists, choral workshops, as well as recitals with poetry by myself and Robert Mingay-Smith. Next on the schedule was a week coaching the Royal School of Church Music’s Residentiary Choir, directed by Scott Farrell, at Sarum College. It was a real pleasure to work with Scott again and the choir were a wonderful group of enthusiastic singers. A real treat! A couple of weeks in Croatia topping up the tan and taking in the sights before September was at my door and I was heading up to the Isle of Skye to teach the whole island to sing… Well, not quite the whole island, but all of the children at least. The project was part of the Aldeburgh Music Friday Afternoons project and aside from the breath-taking views, the opportunity to work with all the schools on the island was a real privilege.
In recent months highlights have included Robert Mingay-Smith and I giving a recital of Shakespeare and other Elizabethan songs as part of the Warwick Words Festival; giving a vocal masterclass at the Royal Marines School of Music, working with the choir and soloists as part of their new vocal track of study; and performing in Lancing College with Seraphim in a programme of Music to the Virgin Mary. Christmas was a busy time as ever! I performed Monteverdi’s Vespers 1610 at Croydon Minster with the Choirs of Croydon Minster and His Majesty’s Sagbutts and Cornett in mid-November, followed by a hectic period of carol concerts, festive soirées, numerous opportunities to get away with Christmas jumpers in an inappropriate setting, and a performance as tenor soloist for Handel’s Messiah at Christchurch Priory with the Bournemouth Bach Choir conducted by Tim Hooper.
So those are just a few highlights from recent months! More news to come, but in the meantime have a look around the site and let me know what you think!
