Clover&Marnie
Marnie: Hey! I said you were the pretty one
Marnie: Of course, the pizza will be waiting
Clover: But that also means you think I'm less than bright.
Clover: This better be the best pizza ever.
Clover: Want me to bring anything else?

Marnie: Oh yes! I'll phone the pizza, you call the repairman and maybe he can have it done by tonight!
Marnie: Well I promise to avenge your death
Clover: Seriously.. I hate you sometimes.
Clover: Does this mean I can come over?

Marnie: I totally would but I sort of don't know how to fix a fuse box, so we'd be sitting in the dark together
Clover: Could I like.. Come over to yours then? I'll bring you pizza?
Clover: I've seen this horror movie before and the pretty ones always die first ;)

âI mean.. I think you need to beâ Clover looked over from the back of the couch where she and Lucy were in the middle of a very intense game of LEGO:Harry Potter.  âI mean youâre hot Ror.. Incredibly stunning.. And a great person.. You deserve to let loose.. Get a little Freakayyyy.â she giggled and then bit her lip.Â
Covering Lucyâs ears quickly. âEven if itâs completely selfish reasons.. You deserve fun..â she shrugged âI mean.. I wish I had a date.. Iâm getting bored of Clover time..âÂ
Rori wasnât even completely sure about going out for the night. However, she got someone who she trusted dearly to watch Lucy and she couldnât quite back out now. When she walked to meet her friend in her living room, she noticed they were giving her a look. âWhat? This is all I got. I donât have many going out outfits. I havenât really been in the dating game or going to party game in a really long time.â

Clover automatically dropped to her kneeâs when the glass smashed around her. Smiling up at the brunette she shook her head. âDonât apologise it happens to all of usâ she whispered softly and sat back laughing for a moment. âYou know.. Sometimes I wish I could be surrounded in Whiskey... The one day I donât. It actually happens..â She giggled before biting her lip to stop herself. âSorry.. Iâm Clover.. I own... That placeâ she pointed to the shop which they were currently outside and began picking up the shattered pieces.Â
âDo you need me to go get some bags? Cause Iâm pretty sure this is super dangerous..â she trailed off after she spoke, eyeing up the silent stranger - yet something felt familiar about him. âDo I know you?â she tilted her head wondering if theyâd met before - going back to the glass and picking it up roughly - and without a second thought slit the middle of her palm. âOh fuck..â she groaned and quickly shut up palm to stop the bleeding. âIâm okay!â she jumped up, trying to keep the tears at bay, but she was a real wuss.

Being a hands-on owner was a goal Owen set for himself walking into the new job. It was the best way to learn it and the first few months were a rough crash course, lots of stumbles and mistakes before even getting his first solid footing. He never minded the gossip staff circled around about him or the critiques on him; why he was here, why he was doing, how damn clueless he was. Because it was true. Buying this had been an impulse, in a way. Impulsive for his character.  After a week of encouragement from his sister and even a push from his parents, Owen tried this new start at life they insisted would be good for him. A quick month of research gave him a bare percentage of preparation for what he was walking into and he know it showed for a long time and still did. He tried to be on top of every cog and wheel that made this place run and more than often he was overwhelmed. Some days what heâd learned so far helped and even remembered to let his managers do what he hired them to do. Good days.
Bad days, like today, Owen felt he struggled with everything. When the computer and stacks of papers started to blur out from the sharp ache at his temple so badly that letters might as well be ink blots. When a problem that he knew shouldnât be that difficult but his inexperience made it that way state unsolved in his hands. When he thought his being here was a mistake, Owen turned to simple tasks. Like unloading the latest shipment of liquor. Middle of the day crowds filled Kingâs Row and with the job only being time consuming Owen didnât see the need to pull any staff. Carrying boxes inside was simple and gave the pain his head a reprieve, until half way done a tremor in his arm took itâs place. Annoyed he ignored it, forcing his fingers to flex open and closed, marching back out to the sidewalk then grabbed another box. Seconds into lifting it up a tightening pain shot from his right bicep all the way down to the fingers which spasmed and he dropped the box. In less than a blink of an eye bottles of whiskey shattered open on the pavement and on the shoes of a passerby that was unlucky enough to be near when Owen fucked up. âGoddamnit!â He growled, giving his right arm a furious shake as if itâd ease the tingles before clenching his fists and kneeling down to pick up the broken pieces. âSorry about that.â Owen sighed out between his teeth while trying to calm himself which just replaced his anger with dejection. Which made him slow to pick up the glass with his good arm, his right one lethargic in its movements, and when he finally looked up to the person he only managed a grimace.

âand all the fire works go on sale..â Clover smirked back looking up from her sketchbook.  âMeaning crazy people like me can blow up houses and make more fires for you to put outâ she teased and put her book down to grab her glass of wine. Theyâd both decide to have a low key night - which generally meant pizza, alcohol and sitting in silence on their phones. âHowâs life Aus? I mean seriously - I feel like Iâve not seen you in forever..âÂ
âWith July 4th coming up, Iâve done more news interviews about fireworks and the precautions you should take than Iâd like. My dad keeps texting me with pictures of me on his TV screen and keeps joking about how his sonâs famous. Iâll just be glad on July 5th when itâs business as usual⌠for the most part.â There were always stragglers who never seemed to understand that 4th of July fireworks are only meant to be shot off on the 4th of July. The department almost always got a few emergency calls even the week after the holiday.

Aurora nodded. It did sound perfect. It sounded like something that they both needed. âThat sounds like a plan. Just so you know, my little nugget loves helping pick out fruits and veggies.â She did though sometimes Aurora had to place what she picked back because it wasnât the best. At least the little girl was trying and taking an interest in what she put into her body.
âDonât let her corrupt you, my love.â She fake whispered as she kissed the top of her daughterâs head though the statement was playfully intended towards Clover. âYour mug is mine for today then.â The mother winked with a smile on her face.
âWell then I think sheâs learnt something from meâ Clover teased, she always let the girl had a treat whenever they were together but it usually ended up being froyo with loads of berries. The young girl has a brain on her just like her mother.Â
âOkay someone had her Sass medicine todayâ Clover rolled her eyes as the woman joked with her daughter. âThatâs fine. Luce and I are gunna have way more fun that you and my mugâ she winked and waved the woman off. âHave a good day Ror.. Love youâÂ

Alicia moved her hands once up and down in slow motion, telling the other woman to relax. Smiling, she began detangling the pink dyed hair with her fingers, with no hurries and stopping to massage the scalp now and then. It was a pitty she wasnât carrying her oils in her purse. âI think Iâll content meself with braiding it.â Alicia signed since she had left her phone in the far table, good thing that Clover knew ASL. âI donât have the things I need for a full work.â She smiled to Cloverâs reflection on the mirror. Waving her hand, she shook her head at the womanâs compliment. âBesides work, howâs it going?â She asked before returning her hands to the hair.
Clover sighed and laughed before shrugging. âYou know me. If I donât worry Iâm probably stoned..â she teased, sheâd stopped smoking as much now that she had something to do. Her store kept her busy - and her friends. Acknowleding whatever fates had brought her and Alicia together - ensuring that she kept up her ASL knowledge so she could always communicate with the stunning woman kept Clover happy. âHonestly...â she paused her signing and thought for a moment.
âI miss my folks. Especially on days like todayâ she paused again and took a shaky breath trying to regain composure. âItâs silly really.. but I do.. You knowâ she signed again before stopping this time to wipe away a tear - hoping the brunette didn't notice.Â

âYes.â She replied. âI think it might be good to start some new traditions.â Aurora replied warmly as she took a sip of the coffee. Heaven knew that she wanted to give Lucy the best damn childhood that she good and traditions with friends that are family are a part of that. âThat sounds perfect. Burgers and hot dogs sound about right, yeah?â
Lucy giggled as she was tickled. âYeah!â Her bright green eyes turning to her mother. âMama. Can I help auntie Clover with dresses?â Aurora smiled at her daughter. She had no clue how to say no to that face.
Clover smiled and nodded âNew Traditions sound perfectâ she whispered quietly actually very nervous about it all. âYes, Iâll get them and some veggies when I go on my lunch break and Iâll drop Lucy back to the store as Iâm sure she doesnât want me to drag her around Wholefoods.â Clover laughed and kissed the girls cheek picking her up.
âItâs settled Iâm stealing her for the day.. Well until lunch..â she smirked and walked the girl behind the counter closer to her Mom. âYou can take the mug you know. I know where you liveâ she narrowed her eyes playfully and shooed Rori to annoy her. âSheâs mine now...â

Jess waited, now less of a nervous wreck. She watched the woman searched around for her sisters bag, her eyes darting across the room after a moment. She didnât want to put more pressure on her by observing her every movement. âMost of them, yeahâ she narrowed her eyes, tilting her head. âI wasnât a fan of the whole thing.â
âYeah, sheâd kill me if I didnât triple check itâs actually her dressâ she replied quickly, for once without hesitation as soon as she she saw the bag. She let a small laugh escape through her nose when she heard how vocal her sister had been. âWait, you serious?â she stopped, eyebrows rising in surprise. âSheâd love thatâbut no way Iâm telling her she has an eye for it. Itâll get to her headâ she shook her head, laughing along. âW-why are you sorry?â she was confused, so far the woman had been nothing but welcoming.
âOh really?â Clover answered as she rummaged before looking at the brunette again, actually she could see that - she looked very low key.Â
âOf course Iâm serious.. Iâd love to have someone around to teach.. Talk to all dayâ she laughed and shrugged âI talk alot.. Some people find it endearing - some people find it less....â she trailed off and bit her lip âYou look really.. Scared. I thought I may have been intimidating..âÂ

âClothing design? Now thatâs a talent. I donât have any kind of eye for fashion, pretty much at all.â Cass arched a brow as she considered the other womanâs words. âHmm⌠I definitely need to do something to shake my brain up. Define âcrazyâ though. Like, are we talking bungee jumping level of crazy?â Glancing down at her cool coffee again, she nodded before waving over a server to get a refill. âGood plan.â
Clover smirked and excused herself to go refill both of their coffees - bringing the steaming mugs back and placing one back in front of Cass. âWell .. It depends how much you want to shake things up.. I used to go sit at the top of my building on the roof and dangle my legs off of the side.. Watch New York pass me.. It was strangely therapeutic...â she giggled and licked her lip. âOr.. when I have a bad day.. I used to throw water balloons off the roof of my parents office, watch them hit the street. I actually bought my store because of the great roof access..âÂ

Sam had overslept- again. Â She had woken up with a start with her sketchbook draped across her where she lay on her couch, hearing her alarm blaring from her bedroom in the distance. Â She looked at her phone and realized it was 45 minutes after she usually woke up, brushing her teeth and hair and doing her makeup in record time. She ran out of the apartment without another thought, throw her hair into a bun on the way. Â She hopped on the subway, happy that sheâd make it to work, and with time to spare! Â Sam grinned and looked at her phones selfie camera, checking to make sure she didnât look completely awful- Middle Schoolers could be brutal. Â It was only then she realized that in her panic, the brunette had run out of the apartment into her pajamas (at least that explained all the strange stares she was getting).
In desperation, Sam sprinted off the subway at the next stop, Port Ewen.  She was lucky that there were plenty of stores there, but worried none would be open so early. To her relief, she found an open store fairly quickly and, begging the god of luck that it sold clothes, she stumbled in, looking for anyone who might work there.  âHelp!â she said as she saw another woman come around the corner, coffee in hand.  âI needâŚI donât have any- I have to goâŚNice hair!âŚIâm going to be late for work!â, she stumbled out, finally taking a chance to catch her breath from all the rush of her morning so far.
Clover couldnât help but giggle biting her lip to stop herself. âOh god.. You look like you need a minute sweetheart. Do you want a coffee..?â she walked over to the brunette and ushered her over to the couch before taking a deep breath trying to get her to mimic her actions. âOkay ... You need to breath... And tell me what youâre looking for and Iâll find if for you okay?â she instructed and sipped her coffee again.Â
âThen I can call my friend over at the beauty store a couple shops down and she can quickly style your hair and do some makeup for you if you want? Sheâs real niceâ Clover added holding out her mug âHere.. DrinkâÂ

Taking a slow sip of her coffee, she made a face at how much the beverage had cooled down. âCass,â she replied easily with a nod. âPleasure to meet you as well, Clover. Iâm a songwriter, just not feeling like much of a good one right now,â the brunette added with a snort at herself. "What about yourself?â
Nodding Clover hummed âIâm an artist, well a designer... anywayâ she paused and waved her hand dismissively before taking a sip of coffee and continuing. âSometimes when Iâm not able to find my muse... I.. Well I go and do something crazy you know.. To get inspiredâ she sugessted with a soft smile âDo you want that top up now?âÂ

Katrina raised an eyebrow and her eyes widen just a little before giving the girl a smile and nodded. âExactly like that! Loving this collar actuallyâŚâ She mumbled as she made her way over and felt the collar and looked at the dress up and down. Either her demands on the dress were vary vague that it was easy to find a dress or this girl was really good at what she did. Katrina assumed it was the latter. âIâll take it.â She finally said with a nod. âMind if I change though in the changing room after I purchase it?â
Pulling out the tag Clover shrugged âThis ones on me. You look a little stressed so hopefully now you can take a deep breath and continue on with whatever you have to do.â she winked before pointing out the changing area. âThere you goâ she smiled feeling like a fairy godmother. Loving that she could sometimes brighten up peoples day.

âSofiaâŚâ she answered, shortly realizing a full name would be more useful. âFox. Sofia Foxâ she corrected herself, pressing her lips together into an awkward smile. Jessica blinked, brows raising slightly at the comment. She opened her mouth, again wihout saying anything. She figured the woman had an habit of being extra friendly, she had to make people feel welcome after all. Instead, she laughed nervously, nodding at the mention of makeup. âY-yeah. Sheâs got that sorted outâ she stammered, âsheâs been planning her own Quince since she was a squirt, everything has to be perfectâ she added with a laugh.
Clover nodded and smiled softly with a giggle and disappeared behind the till as she bent over to root around before finding the garment bag and holding it out like a prize. âI bet she has.. Isnât it what all the girls dream of growing up?â she tilted her head and raised a brow.
âDo you wanna see it? It was actually quite a task to make, your sister is very particular with what she wants and was so vocal during the design process, I actually think that she should consider taking up fashion.. Sheâs got the eye for it.â she admitted âTell her if she ever wants to see what itâs like she can always come here and shadow me for a couple days...â she trailed off realising how much she was babbling away. âSorryâ she blushed sheepishly.Â

Lucy giggled and ran into Cloverâs arms. Rori smiled warmly as she saw the exchange. âGood.â The little girl whispered back just for Clover to hear. Aurora had always been thankful how good Clover was to her daughter. It definitely made her a better employee than she could even imagine.
âYou and I both know that I have more than enough.â Aurora chuckled. âItâs better to have too much than to run out when we have too many orders, but yes. I do also know how much Lucy loves baking with you.â She smirked as she took the coffee from Clover. âThanks. We had a late night.â She leaned into Clover to whisper that Lucy was having nightmares. She then stood back normally. âWe could do a barbecue later if youâd like. Youâre always welcome. I know I am probably not nearly as amazing as your father, but it could be fun.â She offered. âOther than the late night. Pretty good.â
Clover frowned when the woman mentioned Lucy having nightmares but didnât want to make too much of a big deal about it. She napped back into the room when Rori mentioned a barbecue and she smiled sadly. âFor real?â she whispered feeling very touched âIâd really like that... Itâd be super fun, we can make it our own tradition. A new oneâ she nodded firmly and went back to her own coffee. âGood. Good.. Iâll send everyone who comes in your way for a treat as always, but Iâll order some stuff from the butchers and have it put aside if you want?âÂ
Picking Lucy up again after another sip she held the girl close âWanna hang out here today - help me sell pretty clothes to all the pretty girls that come in?â she sing songed, tickling her.Â
