shadow milk cookie x reader.
reader is gender neutral.
cw: slight yandere themes (?) , implied mind control, manipulation, obsession, possessive behavior, generally unhealthy relationships
this is a part two! if you'd like to read the first part, you can find that here.
⋆° .☾ ⋆ .ೃ ࿔* : ⋆
"C'mon, there's no way you've read this book!" You laugh, holding up yet another one of the library's books. A soft gold color decorated with elegant drawings of blooming flowers decorating the book's cover, with the title script titled, 'Earthbread Gardens'.
Shadow Milk Cookie chuckles, a hand covering his mouth at your antics. "I've.. also read that book, Y/N Cookie."
"This is the tenth book I've shown you! You can't possibly have read alllll these books in this library!" You huffed, placing the book onto the table in front of you, next to your half-empty cup of tea, its comforting aroma of blueberries wisping out from the top.
Shadow Milk Cookie shrugs, hands moving towards his own teacup, softly grabbing at it's glass handle with delicate movements. "I'm only being completely honest with you - I've read practically every book in this library."
He took a small sip of his tea, raising the cup to his lips with satisfaction.
"I've been around on Earthbread for quite some time," he added on further, lowering the cup away from his lips. "Truthfully, I've read so many scripts and texts ... I fear there may not be many things left I've yet to actually put my eyes on."
You take note on how his voice seems to falter near the end - as if, hinted with a slight undertone of disappointment. Your once playful expression morphed into one of concern for your friend, as he placed his cup back on the table, looking .. almost forlorn.
Shadow Milk Cookie's eyes trailed towards the book on the table.
"I was baked to be a herald of Knowledge," he spoke, and you stayed quiet, allowing him to speak his conflicting thoughts that begged to be heard. For someone to listen. "I was never given the chance to .. be like other Cookies."
His hands, resting on his lap, began to clench tightly on his robes. Even with his head tilted downwards, eyes glued to anything but you, you could feel his expression shifting into one of almost.. frustration and shame.
He was too ashamed to look you in the eyes as he admitted his own inner turmoil.
"It's not something I should be complaining about though, right?" he chuckled. "Being gifted this power.. to carry such responsibility .. I should be thankful. Thankful to even be considered with such power for the good of all Cookies."
You frown.
"Everyone relies on me - and my friends." he sighs, hands beginning to release from his robes, letting the soft cloth relax. "Yet .. is it too much to ask that sometimes.. I wish I was just like everyone else?"
Nothing but silence filled the Library for a moment.
Shadow Milk Cookie's head quickly moved back up to face you - his expression full of shame as he so easily allowed himself to express such selfish desires -
"Shadow Milk Cookie," you speak, before he can even mutter out a word.
Slowly, you scoot yourself forward, carefully reaching your hands out. His eyes follow your movements as your hands gently reach over to his - and, with only a brief moment of hesitation, do your hands interlock with each other.
"I cannot possibly begin to understand the burden you carry, the responsibilities and challenges you face every single day." you speak softly, your hands gently rubbing against his as a way of silently comforting him. "Like you said - I am not like you."
You hum.
"Just imagining what you have to do for thousands of Cookies each and every day just makes me stress. How you've been able to manage that for years makes me look at you in awe."
Shadow Milk Cookie's gaze widens.
"You are strong - beyond any strength I've ever seen." you smile, your hands raising - the two of you holding your hands up together, your forms much closer than before. "You have no reason to be ashamed for wanting to imagine a life where you're like everyone else."
You pause for a moment.
"..but.. you don't have to flawless. You don't have to be perfect."
"Everything you've done for Earthbread, for Cookies, for me, has always been enough."
"You don't have to meet these high expectations you've set for yourself. What you do now is already enough."
You smile.
"You may not believe it yourself - but I believe it."
Slowly, your hands and his begin to separate, gently and carefully.
Your hands move towards the book you'd left on the table, a soft chuckle emitting from you.
"You mean everything to me, Shadow Milk Cookie. Virtue of Knowledge or not - you're just.. Shadow Milk Cookie to me."
"You're my friend. Nothing has ever made me think otherwise."
Shadow Milk Cookie stares at you; his expression soft - gaze speechless as he finds himself struggling on what to say.
In all of his time on Earthbread - he's continuously faced a constant battle of Cookies unable to truly see him for what he actually was - the Cookie he was underneath all his glorious titles and fame.
It created a wall that prevented anyone from truly understanding him. Leaving a gaping hole in his heart that could never be filled; and that's what he thought for countless years.
And then you showed up, breaking that endless cycle of inner torment. You saw him for who he was - outside of the Virtue of Knowledge.
You saw Shadow Milk Cookie, and Shadow Milk Cookie saw you.
"Y/N Cookie.."
You hum.
He chuckles, reaching back down for his tea once more.
"Thank you."
⋆° .☾ ⋆ .ೃ ࿔* : ⋆
You felt yourself choking back on a sob as you listened to the guttural screams of Cookies below, begging for mercy as they'd be slaughtered and crumbled to bits through twisted games of cards and chess.
They'd look up at you - pleading for help, yet all you could do was watch idly by as their jam stained the floor.
You wanted to do something. The guilt filled your dough like the plague - kicking and screaming to help the countless Cookies that suffered through the fiery chaos that filled all of Earthbread.
But you could not. You were forced to play your part - to be a spectator, witnessing thousands crumble and wither away. That was your role in his twisted play.
You felt a tug on the near-transparent puppet strings that pulled you aside, and you were quickly wrapped in a warm embrace of poisonous venom.
Shadow Milk Cookie ran a hand through your hair - his other hand moving back behind your head, pushing it into the crook of his neck.
"Just let it alllll out, love." you hear him speak, softly and soothingly, comforting you from the horrors as if it was not him who had caused it all.
Just like the typical routine.
The waterworks spilled and tears flew down, your cries muffled as Shadow Milk Cookie rubbed his hand through your hair, the other wrapped around your waist holding you closer.
"..why .. why.." you mumbled out between sobs, pathetically trying to push yourself away from his tight grip - your feeble attempts at escape not budging his embrace in the slightest.
"It's all just a game, dollface." you can't see his face - but you know he's smiling. "I thought you loved games!"
You only cried more. Shadow Milk Cookie whispers sweet nothings of blissful comfort. The hand on the back of your head seems to pulse for a moment, a brush of his magic sweeping into your mind - pushing your worries down and clouding your head.
"There, there.." he chuckles, moving himself backward - his embrace still tight, but now the two of you were able to properly look at one another. Shadow Milk Cookie brushes a strand of your hair out of your face, softly caressing your cheek, brushing away globs of tears.
"You're as beautiful as ever." he hums, analyzing every part of your face like a delicate painting, making sure not even a single scratch or microscopic bit of dust stained your perfect form. "I'm so, so terribly sorry to have kept you waiting for so long!"
A small glimmer of light in the farthest corners of your mind begged for you to run, to scream, to resist - but such attempts were beyond useless. Maybe it was the spell that clouded your thoughts, but even without the influence of magic - was there truly any point to escaping?
You'd tried countless times before. Back when the terror upon Earthbread had only just begun in it's infancy, you recall many days of running and hiding, thinking you were finally safe, only to instantly be dragged right back into his clutches.
You wanted to hate him. To tear apart his dough and scatter his remains across the desolate ruins of the old Academy, and yet - you couldn't. You could never dare test such dangerous waters, and even then, his face- dark and twisted with lies and deceit, still resembled the same face of the Cookie you once knew and cherished with every fiber of your dough.
You tried to speak - but your words came out as incoherent mumbles, muddled by the pressure weighing down on your mind.
Shadow Milk Cookie lets out a playful hum, his head tilting to the side ever so slightly. "What was that, Y/N? I couldn't quite catch thaaaaaaaat!"
His voice was playful, almost like it was mocking you. He knew damn well his own spell and his magic muddled your mind into exhaustion and compliance, and that small light within you that wanted to fight back so desperately pulled and fought against the bars of its enclosure, but its fight was snuffed out like a candlelight on its last breath.
You felt your eyelids droop - and Shadow Milk Cookie allowed your form to fall limp, his embrace supporting you and keeping you close.
With your consciousness fading as exhaustion had begun to finally take over - you could feel yourself being lifted into the air as the world around you grew dark - nothing but Shadow Milk Cookie's chuckles filling your mind as everything disappeared.
⋆° .☾ ⋆ .ೃ ࿔* : ⋆
You find yourself standing in front of that same Silver Tree.
How long had it been? You'd lost track of the years that had gone by since you saw the Witches themselves, looking down upon the ruins of Earthbread with nothing but disappointment.
The holy forks of punishment that rained down from the skies, imprisoning each Beast within mere moments - their reign of terror coming to a halt. Your eyes watched as each Beast Cookie tried to flee - to escape divine punishment that was long overdue, but the powers of the Witches themselves were not ones to be meddled with.
The Silver Tree was born - and Elder Faerie Cookie soon came along with it as the Guardian, swearing a sacred oath to protect the tree with his life, to keep the Beast Cookies imprisoned till the end of time, and with time, Earthbread began to recover.
You recall seeing Shadow Milk Cookie's last look toward you before he was imprisoned.
He was gone - but his clutches on you were still there. You could feel his presence still holding onto your soul, refusing to let go.
No punishment would ever free him from you.
Your mind was always filled with whispers - promises of his return. How one day, he'd return, embracing you with open arms, never to let go of you again.
You feel a soft tap on your shoulder. Your train of thought is shattered, and you turn your head to face the Cookie who was trying to get your attention.
"Doughbrain!" Apple Faerie Cookie huffs, playfully, hands on her hips. "I've been trying to get your attention for a while now!"
You hum. "Sorry, I was.. thinking."
"Thinking about him?" she smiles. You know exactly who she's talking about.
There's a mischievous glint in her eye. You stare back.
"..yeah."
"Don't worry so much!" Candy Apple Cookie reassures, hands moving behind her back. "He'll be free soon. I just know it!"
The light that once shined within you - your spark of fight, your resistance - it had long since been snuffed out. Contorted and twisted into Shadow Milk Cookie's desire, what he wanted you to become.
You were supposed to fear him. You should've been afraid. But that Cookie was long gone - and the Cookie you were now was the Cookie that Shadow Milk Cookie had so delicately crafted.
Whispers of deceit fill your mind again. His voice.
Candy Apple Cookie .. or, Apple Faerie Cookie, giggles. "C'mon, Y/N Cookie! We've got a job to do, remember?"
She's already begun leading the way, her energetic footsteps skipping along the path.
You nod, following after, toward the direction of the Faerie Kingdom's Library.
Behind you - the Silver Tree shakes - and deep inside it's pale bark, a jester laughs as his shackles begin to shake and tremble.

You knew something was .. wrong.
Ever since the release of Spire of Shadows, where the highly anticipated, Shadow Milk Cookie, released as a playable character in his debut update, things began to change.
You were excited as anyone else. Who wouldn't be? After a year of waiting since his initial introduction as an NPC in Theater of Lies, you were apart of the thousands of people that hoped to see him return and become playable in the near future. When the trailer for the update was finally released, you were ecstatic.
Saving up your Crystals, Star Jellies and Skill Powders just for him! There was not a shred of doubt in your mind he'd most likely become apart of the current 'meta' in Kingdom Arena, so you knew the second you pulled him from the Nether Gacha, you could immediately put him at the max level!
Completing the missions as quickly as you could, just for a small chance of getting him from the gacha - your anticipation was immense, and you silently prayed to the screen each and every single time you managed to scourge up enough Light of Deceit for a singular ten pull.
When you finally pulled him from the gacha a little less than halfway to the pity pull, you beamed with joy - watching the animation play out. He was here!
Your excitement, once bubbling from within you, burst out like fireworks as you quickly maxed out his level and skill, giving him the best beascuit you had.
As you tapped on your phone, pressing buttons, adding him to your team, finding him in your kingdom, your joy beaming across your features - you failed to realize how this happiness was blinding you from sinister darkness just beyond the phone screen.
Days went by, and things were normal at first.
Then the glitches started. At first, they were small, insignificant errors like small visual bugs or a slight delay in gameplay. Small enough that you could simply shrug your shoulders and continue playing the game, but the more you ignored it - the worse it became.
After just a few days, you found yourself at a standstill. Staring at your phone screen, your eyebrows instinctively furrowed at yet another bug - though, this time, it was far more apparent. Like it was purposefully trying to grab your attention.
All the Cookies in your kingdom had.. been disabled, except for one.
Shadow Milk Cookie.
Your kingdom's design and layout was completely changed - all decors and designs being swapped with decor released alongside the update with Shadow Milk Cookie. Nothing but whites, blues and blacks adorned your kingdom.
Your Crystal and Coin count hadn't dropped. You didn't buy these items - so how could this have possibly happened?
Almost as if he knew you'd booted up the game, sensing your presence, Shadow Milk Cookie turned to face the screen from within your Kingdom.
His sprite winked at you, a gleeful grin forming on his features.
Odd.. you don't recall ever seeing that sprite anywhere.
Confused, and honestly somewhat unnerved, your thumb graces the Cookies button on the bottom right, opening up the tab. All of your Cookies were still there, but as you moved to tap on one of them, you were taken straight to Shadow Milk Cookie's profile instead.
What??
His animation played, bowing at you with a wink.
"Tis I, your humble jester! Here to brighten up your mood!"
You frowned, exiting his profile and, once again, moving to click another Cookie's profile. Though, just as before, you were taken straight back to Shadow Milk Cookie.
"..what the hell?" you muttered aloud.
At this point, it was clear. Your game was busted - or, possibly had some kind of virus. Although, a virus where your entire game is corrupted to just Shadow Milk Cookie was.. unheard of. Not a single person on the internet, from what you knew, had ever documented such an occurrence happening since the update's release.
You place the phone back down on your bed, sitting up. You walk towards your small laptop, flipping open the cover and logging into your account.
You fail to notice Shadow Milk Cookie's eyes seemingly following your movements as you move away from your device.
Wanting to believe that this was just some harmless bug, you immediately hop to your web browser, beginning to search up bugs or viruses relating to Cookie Run Kingdom, hoping you'd find someone out there who may've possibly had a similar experience to yours - and a possible solution.
With your gaze and mind locked focused on your hopeless searching, you failed to notice your phone slowly beginning to shake, being left idle on Shadow Milk Cookie's profile.
Deep inside, a beast rumbles - hands gripping the invisible bars of restriction that kept him away from your world. The confines of your small device that shackled him to this game.
Oh, to be trapped in a Silver Tree and a Video Game! How horribly hopeless is that? Though, with the knowledge that he had from being in a simple video game came with tremendous power that he could oh-so easily exploit.
Shadow Milk Cookie hummed, watching you as you searched for answers of your.. "virus". Or rather, his fun, silly little prank!
He let out a quiet giggle - expression darkening. You were finally giving him the attention he'd been longing for! Yes, being trapped in a small device wasn't the most pleasant, but it had some.. quirks!
Forcing you to pull him in his Nether Gacha so many times, modifying his own attack power to higher numbers, always speaking over any other Cookie who tried to initiate dialogue to you..
Seeing your oh-so adorable face so confused and bewildered at his silly pranks and games was just the cherry on top! Shadow Milk Cookie had to admit, he was a liiiiiiittle annoyed that it took you this long to really give him the attention he craved, but, what did it matter? His patience has rewarded him!
..But it still wasn't.. enough.
His grin fell to a frown - an ominous gaze watching your every movement. No.. - no this wouldn't do. Not only did Shadow Milk Cookie desire for your attention, he needed to physically be there, next to you.
What had gotten into him? His mind, clouded with nothing but twisted lies and maelstroms of darkness grew a twinge of longing. But not a soft, kindhearted longing one would express - no, this was something so much deeper. So, so much worse.
Shadow Milk Cookie craved to have you here, with him.
It was all clear to him. You were his.
Truthfully, just having your attention on him was fine, and it usually always sufficed his desires, but now .. now it was different. He wanted more.
Your phone began to shake.
Your endless searching that led you to dead end after dead end came to a screeching halt at the sound of a familiar voice, coming straight from your phone, speaking your name.'
"Y/N..!"
You paled.
Slowly, your head turned towards your phone. That couldn't have been your family - that didn't sound like them, nor could it have come straight from your phone like that.
"Oooooover here, silly!" Shadow Milk Cookie's voice teased. "Don't leave me hanging here!"
You slowly got up from your chair, walking towards your bed and lifting up your phone, where Shadow Milk Cookie was, floating idly - though, he was much closer to the screen now, gaze fixated right back at you.
Your mouth was agape - words of confusion and distress on the tip of your tongue - and yet, you couldn't find any actual words of coherency to mutter aloud.
The jester laughed at your disbelief. "What's the matter, Y/N? You look like you've just seen a ghost!"
His teasing mockery snapped you out of your daze. You blinked, and your thumbs quickly moved to swipe the game off your screen - with Shadow Milk Cookie's expression shifting into something more serious as the game disappeared from your screen.
Now back on your phone's home screen, you held a finger down on the Cookie Run Kingdom icon, waiting until the small popup appeared that would allow you to delete the app. With the game no longer on your screen, you took note of how even the game's icon had changed to Shadow Milk Cookie.
Screw trying to find a solution. Your horror had overtaken your senses, panic had spilled into your veins; this wasn't just some bug. This wasn't just some measly virus. This was something far worse. Something you couldn't possibly explain to another person without sounding like a fool.
The way he said your name - something that he couldn't possibly have knowledge of. And yet, he said it so clearly, so real, and when you finally approached him, he noticed you. Knew that you were there, looking back at him through a glass screen.
You pressed the delete app button - with your phone giving you a popup, asking you to confirm your choice. In a heartbeat, you selected confirm, and waited.
..and waited.
...
Why wasn't the app disappearing from your screen?
Your phone trembled. You couldn't tell if it was your own fear making you shake, or if it was something else. Something .. otherworldly.
Your fears were carved into reality as your phone practically thrashed itself out of your grip, tearing itself away from you and landing harshly onto your bed. A sinister, twisted laughter echoed throughout your bedroom, filling your ears and flying around the room.
You trembled, backing away as quickly as you could, your feet instinctively gliding you towards your bedroom door.
"Oh, Y/N!" his voice echoed. Shadow Milk Cookie's voice - his words clouding in your mind, like it was being sent to you telepathically. "Did you just try to delete me?"
You heard the Beast Cookie 'tsk in disappointment, clicking his tongue.
"So rude!" he scoffed. "And after everything I've done for you! It's almost like you're trying to get away from me!"
Your back collided with your bedroom door - hands reaching for the knob desperately, but your head was locked towards your phone that began to glow, it's screen taken over by a familiar shade of blue. You couldn't bring yourself to turn your back towards the haunted device, fearing that, even for a second that you might turn your back to him, it could mean the worst for you.
Hands finally grasping on the doorknob behind you, you twisted the metal knob trying to push your door open.
..The knob stopped halfway, unmoving.
You froze on the spot. Your door had locked itself, a bedroom door that never even had a lock, was now locked in place.
"Ah-ah-ah!" Shadow Milk Cookie laughed, his voice swarming in your head. "Where on Earthbread might you be trying to run off to? I'm about to make my big debut, here!"
A hand escaped from the phone screen. You held back a scream.
A blue hand extended out, and a familiar arm with jester attire began to emerge. It pushed itself out, revealing more of him.
His eyes locked onto you immediately - a large grin forming on his face as he had about halfway emerged from your phone screen.
The fear on your face was like a divine dessert - crafted and gifted perfectly sweet just for him.
Just like a wrapped gift basket that landed straight in front of his doorstep. You were right there - in his clutches. He had all the power he needed, and now, all he needed was you.
"Come along now!" Shadow Milk Cookie clapped his hands with glee, as blue puppeteer strings shot out from your phone, headed straight towards you. "We wouldn't want to keep our dear audience waiting, no?"
You yelped, quickly ducking your head to avoid the incoming web, and while your quick thinking may have saved you for just a few more seconds, it didn't matter. The strings quickly maneuvered themselves, wrapping around your waist, locking your arms to your sides and keeping you bound in place.
A scream lay trapped in your throat. You wanted to scream - to cry, to yell, anything to grab someone's attention. And yet - a voice, one that was most definitely not yours, echoed whispers in the back of your mind, keeping you silent.
You were quickly pulled straight towards the Beast, whos hands reached out to you the second you were in arms length of him, grabbing onto you - staring down at you with a menacing grin of victory.
His arms wrapped around you - possessive, as if the strings weren't enough. He needed to envelop you in his own embrace.
With laughter filling the air, Shadow Milk Cookie descended back down into the phone, and you were swiftly dragged along down with him. Your cries finally escaped your lips - but it didn't matter now. Your yelling and your tears were drowned out in his world of lies - his perfect world, that would be built for the two of you.
⋆° .☾ ⋆ .ೃ ࿔* : ⋆
You've lost track of time at this point.
Strings were tied around you on every limb, tangled up in a web of blue that kept you still. Your body had adjusted to this new world you'd been forcefully taken to - now with the proportions of any other Cookie that existed.
Not that many Cookies seemed to exist anymore. It was just you, Shadow Milk Cookie, and his two minions - Candy Apple Cookie and Black Sapphire Cookie.
Whatever was left of your kingdom - you didn't know. When you awoke in this world after being dragged down into it by the hands of the Beast, you found yourself inside of a familiar Spire.
Your memories are hazy - and yet, on the day you were brought here, you remember seeing Candy Apple Cookie and Black Sapphire Cookie awaiting the two of you to arrive, as if they were already expecting you.
"Master Shadow Milk Cookie!!" Candy Apple Cookie cheered - her eyes sparkling at the sight of the Beast Cookie appearing. "You're finally back!"
"I see this was the one that's been on your mind as of late?" Black Sapphire Cookie chuckled, his eyes analyzing you up and down - observing your terrified state. "They look absolutely horrified!"
"Everything went according to plaaaaaan!" Shadow Milk Cookie grinned, his voice, mockingly singing his own praise. "A little more rough than I was hoping for.. but, what can you do? When improv calls, who am I to say no?"
The jester turned to you, his hand grabbing at your chin, forcing your gaze that had been previously facing towards the ground, now looking towards him.
"Don't look so.. blue, Y/N!" Shadow Milk Cookie smiled down at you - his eyes shadowed under an ominous light - his mismatched pupils glowing softly in the darkness. "Trust me, dear, you'll adjust veeery quickly."
Everything after that was a blur.
Your gaze was hazy, staring towards a checkered floor. Darkness surrounded the room you were held captive in - a room that was supposed to be an elegant bedroom crafted just for you.
Your attire matched perfectly with the theme of this twisted place - nothing but dark colors and swirls of lies topped with a few bowties here and there.
The puppeteer strings around your form tightened ever so slightly.
Your mind raced. The words of deceit that constantly filled the back of your mind suddenly became louder - just like they always did. Apart of this horrid routine you were forced into.
.. Y/N ...
Stop fighting my will, Y/N.
This is your home now - and you.. you are mine.
Why do you still insist on fighting me? Why do you still wish to leave?
The world out there has nothing for you. This is your world.
You shake your head, eyelids shutting tightly as you ignored these honeyed, twisted words that beckoned you, wanting to embrace you and swallow up any last bit of fight you had left.
The presence in the room shifts. You don't even have to open your eyes to know that he's here with you now.
A hand softly lifts your chin.
"You're such a fighter, even after alllll this time." Shadow Milk Cookie spoke, a light chuckle following his words. "It's adorable, really."
His voice becomes far more stern.
"But these little charades are starting to bore me."
His grip on your chin is suddenly at your face, tugging you forward, your eyelids snapping open in surprise.
You stare back up at Shadow Milk Cookie. You want to glare - to be angry, to yell, to scream -
But you don't want to do that.
So you don't.
He smiles. You do not.
"You're all mine, Y/N." the Beast reminds you. "You'll come to accept the truth sooner or later."
He laughs.
"It's only a matter of time."

⋆° .☾ ⋆ .ೃ ࿔* : ⋆
YOUR HANDS FLIPPED THROUGH THE PAGES of one of the countless books inside of the library of the famous Blueberry Yogurt Academy. Your research had gone on for hours, despite class hours having ended long ago that day. The moon had long since risen, and it's pale shining light illuminated the room of knowledge, lighting the words on the soft pages of what was most likely the ninth book you'd began reading that day.
You were the Librarian of this Academy - and this room was essentially your home. Students that came in and out of these chambers never once visited without seeing your face, whether it was behind the counter and assisting students, or suggesting different books of differerent genres.
You were an absolute bookworm, head swarmed with knowledge, but such a label did not bother you in the slightest. You enjoyed taking in countless stories, whether they were tales of legend, or fictional nonsense, learning and discovering more about the world of Earthbread through mere pages of countless writings was an art that you developed an immense passion for.
This world was full of secrets, so how could you not stick your head inside an open book that beckoned you with answers?
Your mind was so focused on the literature in front of you, you failed to perk up at the sound of the large library doors creaking open like they always would, acting as a doorbell of sorts for a door that lacked a bell.
"I thought I'd still find you here,"
His voice breaks you out of your trance, your head turning over towards the door, where the Head of the Academy stood - Shadow Milk Cookie.
Such a familiar face was a welcomed one. You and Shadow Milk Cookie had developed a deep bond, ever since your job application to this Academy had been accepted for the position of Librarian. The two of you shared a collective interest in knowledge, especially with him being the Virtue of Knowledge, it was to no ones surprise that you both clicked almost instantly.
"Ah, you.." you let out a lighthearted chuckle, closing the indigo cover book you'd once been completely focused on. "I had the slightest feeling you'd show up."
If anyone knew how to completely zap out your focus from reading of all things - one of your biggest passions, it was Shadow Milk Cookie. Something about him and his presence always changed the atmosphere of a room upon his arrival. It wasn't all too much of a shock, he was one of the divine Cookies first baked by the Witches, but his role as the Virtue of Knowledge didn't change the way you saw him in the slightest.
You just saw him as.. Shadow Milk Cookie. One of your closest friends. Someone you could connect to easily.
"..You do know how late it is, right?" Shadow Milk Cookie queries, raising a brow - his eyes briefly glancing over toward the moonlight shining through one of the many rectangular shaped windows of the library. "I'm all for late night reading, of course, but.. shouldn't you be getting home?"
You hummed, eyes glancing toward the antique clock.
Huh. No wonder it had felt later than usual - you normally would've left at least an hour ago!
You sheepishly chuckled, "I must've been too focused on this book, I completely lost track of time.."
Shadow Milk Cookie merely smiled, now standing just beside you as you stood up from your cushioned seat.
"I can see that. What were you reading this time?"
You slid the closed book over towards him, and his eyes skimmed the indigo-cotton cover with interest.
"Ah.. Histories of Crispia?" He spoke, his voice almost like a whisper as his hand briefly brushed over the cover. "This one is most definitely a classic - one I read long ago."
His head moved upwards, heterochromatic eyes looking back toward you.
"What do you think of it so far, Y/N Cookie?"
You weren't sure what it was, but you found the answer on the tip of your tongue unable to escape your lips - your eyes locked onto the taller cookie in front of you.
The moonlight reflected his dough near perfectly, his eyes practically glowing in the darkness.
The silence between you two went unnoticed by you- blissfully unaware you'd been staring, until Shadow Milk Cookie cleared his throat.
"Y/N Cookie?"
You blinked, nearly jumping in your spot as the original answer to his question finally escaped your mouth.
"Ah - sorry, sorry!" You blurted out a quick apology, feeling a small heat rise to your cheeks. "I.. I really like it so far! It's.. it's really good,"
You felt incredibly embarrassed for staring. Maybe it'd been the exhaustion getting to you?
Get ahold of yourself Y/N ... You mentally scolded yourself.
Shadow Milk Cookie gave you a reassuring smile. "No worries! It's alright, Y/N Cookie."
He slid the book back over to you, which you grabbed off of the table, holding it in your hands.
"Shall we, then?" Shadow Milk Cookie turned to the door, gesturing for you to follow him out.
You nodded, the two of you walking together out of the library and into the massive, dimly lit hallways of the Blueberry Yogurt Academy.
The walk between you two was quiet for the most part, your footsteps echoing across the reflective marble floor tinted with blues of different shades, with both of you standing side by side, awfully close - hands nearly brushing up against each other with every other step.
Your stroll to the front entrance of the Academy was about halfway through when Shadow Milk Cookie spoke up once again.
"How about you and I read that book together during the lunch periods this week?" He offered, turning to you. "If you have the free-time in your schedule, of course."
Your eyes lit up in excitement.
"Oh, I'd love to!"
Shadow Milk Cookie chuckled. "I thought you'd say that. In fact, I could definitely brew some of the tea that I've been meaning to use.. if you're in the mood for tea, that is."
You beamed, nodding your head - stars practically forming in your eyes.
"We haven't gotten to hang out a ton these past few weeks!" You grinned. "Exams have been pretty busy for us - not just the students!"
"Ah.. well, you know how it is." Shadow Milk Cookie shrugged. "I have greatly missed our hangouts together."
"Aww.. you missed hanging out with me?"
"Of course I did, Y/N Cookie."
You felt that heat rise up to your cheeks again at his words.
Shadow Milk Cookie smiled at your reaction, the two of you finally reaching the front doors of the Academy. He pushed open the doors, holding them open and allowing you to step outside, before following soon after.
Standing right outside the Academy, the two of you gazed up at the night sky for a few moments, eyes darting around at the patterns of countless stars that glistened through various sizes, dancing around the large moon.
Almost like a stage light, its shine illuminated the two of you in it's soft beam.
And for a while, it was quiet - nothing but the soft breeze of the night filling the air.
Slowly, you found yourself turning your gaze back towards Shadow Milk Cookie. Having felt your gaze, he soon did the same.
You smiled softly.
"Thanks."
He hummed.
"For what?"
"Everything."
Shadow Milk Cookie smiled, a soft sigh escaping his lips.
"You're too kind, Y/N Cookie. Far too kind."
You began to make your way down the small, white brick steps, the book still held close to your chest. As you quickly reach the end of the path where the walkway converges, you turn your head back one last time for the night.
You wave your free hand, waving goodbye to Shadow Milk Cookie.
"See you tomorrow, Shadow Milk Cookie!" you beam.
The professor waves a polite goodbye in return.
"Till we meet again, Y/N Cookie."

The world was in chaos. Nothing but the yells of terrified Cookies, children and adults, filled the air - as fires spread throughout all of Earthbread.
The day had started out as it normally had - yet all of a sudden, screams rang out, your head shooting up from the book you'd been reading. You ran over to one of the windows of the Library, looking outside to see destruction raining down upon all sides.
You dashed out of the Library as fast as you could, the hallways once delicately crafted with fine marble beginning to take in the swift damage from the outside - small cracks and rubble staining the walls and floors.
"Shadow Milk Cookie?!" you yelled out, frantically searching every nook and cranny of the Academy as fast as you could, all while making sure you could get any students out of harms way. The ground shook and trembled with each passing minute, and every speck of your dough begged you to run to safety.
Yet the adrenaline that coursed through your veins prevailed through the fight, determined to find Shadow Milk Cookie, just to make sure he was safe.
But your desperate search was quickly cut short when familiar laughter could almost be heard from the skies. You froze, eyes darting to the front entrance of the Academy.
Eyebrows furrowing, you ran to the doors, which had nearly collapsed upon themselves from the damage and fires that spread quickly. Your head glanced in all directions, horrified at the sight of screaming, crying, or injured Cookies that were avoiding magical attacks of cards, strings and strange phantoms that wore jester-like attire.
"..what?"
"Y/N Cookie! Theeere you are!"
You froze. That familiar voice of the one you'd been searching for - why did he suddenly sound so.. off?
His voice seemed to echo throughout the sky.
You slowly moved your head up, your eyes widening at the sight of Shadow Milk Cookie high up in the sky, his form twisted - with a sinister grin of sharp teeth staring right back at you.
"I just knew I'd find you here!" Shadow Milk Cookie beamed, clapping his hands together. "Although what took you so long? You were almost late to our hangout!"
You stepped back in horror.
He tilted his head to the side at an unnatural angle.
"Awh.. don't tell me you almost forgot!" Shadow Milk Cookie pouted, fake sorrow laced in his tone. "Not to worry! All is forgiven, dear Y/N Cookie!"
Puppeteer strings suddenly formed in the sky, flying straight towards your form. You nearly had zero time to react from the alarming speed they flew towards your form, entangling around your limbs and hoisting you up in the air without an inch of effort.
You were quickly dragged up into the sky, floating idly beside Shadow Milk Cookie, who quickly placed his hands on your shoulders, shaking you with excitement.
"Oh, oh this is gonna be sooo much fun, Y/N Cookie!" He beamed. "Now, this hangout is gonna be a liiiitle different than just silly books and tea!"
You felt yourself being dragged along with him as he floated in the sky, the strings holding you tight forcing you along.
Words bubbled in your throat.
Feelings swarmed in your mind.
Betrayal? Shock? Fear? Anger?
You stared off into space, thoughts swarming and clouded with volatile emotions. How could this happen? This - this wasn't the Shadow Milk Cookie you once knew.
The one so kind, so caring, someone you related to on so many levels, someone who shared so many passions with you -
He had been acting off as the weeks went by, seemingly more stressed and exhausted as the days ticked by, but no Cookie, not even you, could've predicted such an outcome.
You wanted to cry.
Tears threatened to spill, pricking at your eyes.
Shadow Milk Cookie came to a halt, staring at you with those same, familiar heterochromatic eyes.
He clicked his tongue. "Oh, Y/N Cookie .. don't give me that look!"
His hand brushed away a small glob of semi-transparent tears that almost spilled down your left eye.
"Save your tears, bookworm." He grinned, patting the top of your head with twisted affection. "For the show's about to begin!"

⋆° .☾ ⋆ .ೃ ࿔* : ⋆
LIFE IN THE LOWER-HALF OF THE REPUBLIC was not a paradise. Far from it, really. Cookies who lived in the lower half often struggled to get by, with shady crooks and criminals around every corner.
You grew up in this life, raised with a family who did everything in their power to support you. Despite the harsh conditions, you all continuously managed to scrape by - even making a few shady trades and deals every now and then.
Secrets whispered and danced around each and every alleyway, amidst the musty air of suspicion and dampness.
Cookies from the higher levels of the Republic often dreaded taking one foot in this place, muttering distasteful insults and incomprehensible nonsense that you could only guess were hateful remarks stabbing at you and the rest of the lower half.
Could you be bothered to care much anymore? Not.. really. You spent your entire life living in such conditions, and with time came endurance. You kept up your botherless facade, hiding behind a mask of your true self - someone who was afraid of the world.
Years of constant teasing, insults and other things thrown your way made you build up a decent tolerance, but no matter how many years of this treatment went in and out of your head, it didn't change the fact that you - deep down, were insecure. Insecure and afraid.
But the only way to survive here was to act tough. Don't show weakness - don't show fear.
Your hand rested on your cheek, propping your face upward as your face was plastered with a bored expression, standing behind a wooden stand that offered various goodies and toys for passersby to stop and take a look at.
With your family away on some sort of trip, you were essentially left alone to run the stand, to keep money flowing in. You recalled that your mother was hesitant of the idea, but after reassurance from both you and your father, she ultimately agreed to let you be on your own.
You were an adult. You could handle yourself, anyway.
..Probably.
Behind the stand, you stood on a medium sized wooden crate, holding you up to extend your height so that you'd be tall enough to properly grab any items and greet customers properly. Your height was laughable - a size that you were constantly picked on by many as you'd roam the damp streets.
You weren't exactly tall - no, scratch that, you were far from tall. You were just barely taller than the average teenager - but that wasn't saying much.
You assumed your dough was just .. smaller. A smaller batch. That was all it was.
But the constant teasing or the occasional side-eye that was thrown your way was one of the worst things about it.
Your hands tightly clenched together into fists. Your brain just thinking about it all made anger bubble into your dough - your thoughts wandering.
However, your thoughts were soon interrupted by the sound of voices - voices you certainly hadn't recognized or heard before. The Lower Half of the Republic typically had the same Cookies day after day, with the rare occasion of a Cookie from the Upper Levels stopping by for who knows what.
A trio, from what you could guess - was walking down the streets of the Market. A small gingerbread Cookie with a candy cane in his hand, a tall, gruff armored cookie with a metal gauntlet, and a smaller cookie with an attire of blacks and whites, woolly clothes and sharp claws attached to his hands - alongside a cream white wolf following beside him.
You raised a brow.
You'd.. certainly never seen these Cookies before.
"Wow.." you heard the Gingerbread cookie let out a gasp of awe, eyes looking all around the Market street. "So this is where one of the big Markets are?"
The armored one nodded. "It would appear so. Although this place seems rather... sketchy."
"This place gives me a vibe that I don't like!" The woolly cookie spoke - though his voice was almost loud enough to be considered shouting. "Cream Wolf! Check to see if you can smell any of those White Mask Cookies."
The Cream Wolf barked in response, it's nose vibrating up and down as it was quick to sniff the area, trying to discern any suspicious scents.
You sweatdropped. What in the world was going on here?
Various Cookies of the Market side-eyed the trio that clearly stood out like sore thumbs. Cookies that weren't from here - outsiders, most likely.
Most backed away from the furry animal that would get up in their personal spaces, growling and sniffing for scents of the supposed "white masked cookies" you heard the small Cookie mention moments prior.
You felt yourself slightly freeze up in surprise when the animal's eyes turned towards you - its next target. You instinctively took a step back, which only inclined the Cream Wolf to approach faster.
You paled. You really didn't want to get caught up in any of this nonsense -
bark!
You squeezed your eyes shut, hands slightly trembling, but after seconds of nothing actually happening, you slowly cracked one of them open.
The wolf was sitting in front of your stand, eyes clearly fixated on one of the squeaky toys you had sitting out for sale. Your eyes glanced between the toy and the wolf - the dots connecting silently in your mind.
Oh.
OH!
Slowly, you reached for the toy, your movements being watched intently by the wolf - whos tail began to wag, expecting you to throw the toy for him to catch and bring right back to you.
"HEY! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING??" an alarming voice is suddenly yelled in your direction, and both you and the wolf turn to the right, where the trio stood, heading right your way.
You felt a bead of sweat roll down the side of your face. You hadn't meant to attract attention -- !!
"Cream Wolf! Don't fall for these sly tricks!" the small Cookie grumbled, said wolf being beckoned back towards him, though its eyes were constantly looking back at the small squeaky toy still in your hands.
"Err.. Crunchy Chip Cookie? I don't think they were trying to do anything.." the small gingerbread Cookie nervously chuckled, trying to calm his companion down.
..Huh.. so now you knew one of their names. You took mental note of that.
"I have to agree with Gingerbrave here. Besides - we don't want to be attracting unwanted attention, especially not here." the armored cookie frowned, sending you a glance. "Apologies if we startled you."
You felt yourself being thrown on the spot, not really knowing what to say.
Crunchy Chip Cookie, however, was immediately up close in front of your stand, gaze looking you up and down.
"Just what exactly were you planning with that weapon of yours, huh?" he interrogated, eyebrows furrowing. "Don't think you can fool me! I just know there's some kind of secret evil bomb inside!"
You tried to speak, hoping to defend yourself. "I-"
"Crunchy Chip Cookie, seriously." The armored cookie huffed. "You're clearly startling them."
"We can't just be accusing random Cookies - !!" the gingerbread - or, Gingerbrave, as you heard the armored Cookie mention, agreed. "I think.. it's just a toy."
The Cream Wolf let out a small bark, eyes excitedly staring between the squeaky toy and Crunchy Chip Cookie, as if trying to send a message to him.
Crunchy Chip Cookie hummed in response. "..Hm. Well.. if it was a weapon, I'm sure my Cream Wolf would've smelled it by now."
You glanced to the side for a moment, internally cringing at the sight of passerby Cookies observing the scene - eyes constantly staring at you.
"You don't seem like much of a threat, anyways!" Crunchy Chip Cookie chuckled, placing his hands on his hips.
You deadpanned.
Okay, now you felt a little insulted.
"Hey now - I can be a threat!" you blurted out, your thoughts escaping into words. "Just 'cause I'm small doesn't mean I can't beat you up."
The trio stared at you.
You were quick to regret running your mouth, letting confidence get the better of you.
Gingerbrave frowned. "..You don't look small! You stand .. rather tall behind your counter."
"They are standing on a crate," the armored Cookie quickly informed. As the tallest of the trio, it only made sense that he'd managed to see the small crate you'd been standing on just behind your counter.
"Wait, really?" Gingerbrave hummed, slowly glancing behind your counter. "Oh - Wildberry Cookie, you're right!"
"Can you not?!" you glared, making Gingerbrave quickly step back, sending a nervous, apologetic smile your way.
"Why are you faking your height?" Crunchy Chip Cookie questioned. "Look at me! I may be shorter, but that doesn't stop me from being a warrior!"
You frowned. "If I didn't stand on this crate, I wouldn't be able to reach most of the items."
Crunchy Chip Cookie scoffed. "Don't be ridiculous! You might be short, but not that short!"
"Are you doubting.. my height???" you deadpanned. "Fine then - I'll demonstrate, just for you."
You hopped off of the crate, landing on the damp concrete beneath you. The upper half of your body was still visible over the counter, but everything else was far too short and covered by the counter.
The trio stared with slight surprise - though, Crunchy Chip Cookie's gaze was rather startled.
"NO WAY!" he yelled, immediately waltzing right up to you. "You're - shorter than me?!"
Wildberry Cookie hummed. "This is... new."
"Quickly! Wildberry Cookie, Gingerbrave, compare our heights, now!"
How did you even get into this situation?
Within seconds, you found yourself standing back to back with Crunchy Chip Cookie, whilst Gingerbrave and Wildberry Cookie were observing, comparing your heights together - whilst his Cream Wolf sniffed at your arm.
"Crunchy Chip Cookie.. you're no longer the shortest!" Gingerbrave laughed, holding his candy cane staff in the air.
"HA! Now you guys can't pick on me!!" Crunchy Chip Cookie raised his fist in the air with pride. "Take that, Wildberry Cookie!"
"..I haven't even said anything," Wildberry raised a brow, but the corners of his mouth curled up into a small smile.
"I feel like I'm being picked on.." you frowned.
"What? Nonsense!" Crunchy Chip Cookie turned to you. "There ain't nothing wrong with being short!"
"We did not intend for it to come off that way. Apologies." Wildberry Cookie apologized, crossing his arms.
Gingerbrave nodded - but was quick to shift the topics.
"..Say, what's your name, stranger? We've never gotten it!"
You stared - surprised. Why were these strangers being so kind to you, a mere Lower Level Republic Cookie? Asking for your name of all things.. were they trying to befriend you? Why?
Slowly, your name escaped your lips. "..Y/N Cookie. My name is Y/N Cookie."
"Y/N Cookie! That's such an awesome name!" Gingerbrave beamed. "You may've already heard it, but the name's Gingerbrave!"
Wildberry Cookie nodded. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'm Wildberry Cookie."
"Crunchy Chip Cookie!" Crunchy Chip Cookie announced, placing a hand over his chest. "I am a sworn warrior of the Dark Cacao Kingdom!"
He turned his head to the Cream Wolf.
"And this is my best friend - my Cream Wolf!"
The Cream Wolf lets out a small bark in response.
You find it hard to hold back a smile. Gaze softening at the sight of the trio, finding yourself no longer regretting the encounter between you four.
"We must keep moving, however." Wildberry Cookie spoke, ending the introductions. "We're.. on a mission of sorts. I believe Espresso Cookie is expecting us, soon."
"Already? But it feels like we just got here!" Crunchy Chip Cookie frowned. "We haven't yet fully explored these areas!"
"I'm sure we'll get more time to do so later!" Gingerbrave reassured.
You let out a light chuckle, stepping back onto the wooden crate behind your stand.
"If you three have places to be - don't let me stop you."
Your hands moved towards the squeaky toy left on the wooden counter, slowly picking it up, before turning to Crunchy Chip Cookie.
"Though, before you go, take this."
Before the Cookie had anytime to refuse the gift, you'd already tossed it his way, the toy fumbling in his hands momentarily before landing carefully in his palms.
"Something for the road - on the house!" You smiled, a small wink escaping your expression. "It seemed like your Cream Wolf there really wanted to play with it."
"Cream Wolves don't play such foolish games!" Crunchy Chip Cookie refuted, but between the three of you, you all knew he was lying.
"..thank you, though." Crunchy Chip Cookie softly muttered, pushing his woolly scarf closer to his face as he spoke, looking away from you.
You chuckled, waving the trio goodbye as they began to make their way back out the streets of the Lower Market and back towards the Central Republic.
You had a feeling you'd be seeing them again soon.
⋆° .☾ ⋆ .ೃ ࿔* : ⋆
When the trio had finally reached the Fountain, Crunchy Chip Cookie suddenly spoke up.
"After we meet with Espresso Cookie, we better go back."
"You seem in a rush to get back there, Crunchy Chip Cookie!" Gingerbrave pointed out. "Any particular reasons?"
"To - to keep exploring, duh!" Crunchy Chip Cookie huffed, looking to the side.
Wildberry Cookie softly chuckled.
"Whatever you say."

COOKIE RUN: KINGDOM ROMANCE HEADCANONS
[ reader is implied to be gender neutral! ]
. ☾ . .
PURE VANILLA COOKIE ;
Pure Vanilla Cookie is incredibly gentle and sweet. He's always there to lend an ear for you, his touch soft and caring with a scent of warm vanilla and soft cream. He'll happily stop whatever he's doing if it means being by your side.
He's an Ancient Hero, so he carries plenty of responsibilities, but his typical busy schedule does not come in the way of being around you - and as mentioned above, he's fully willing to stop what he's doing to be there for you, especially if you need comfort.
Very very affectionate, but always makes sure you're comfortable with being hugged or held in the moment before he makes any moves. He wants you to be comfortable.
Plants a whole room full of flowers in his kingdom just for you. He'll ask you what kind of flowers you love most, and the next thing you know, you'll see a whole bunch of them planted in a greenhouse, and tons more in different vases and bouquets around the castle.
Whenever you're wounded, Pure Vanilla Cookie is by your side within seconds. As an exceptional healer, his light magic soothes your wounds and fills up cuts, stopping anymore runaway jam from escaping your cuts and bruises. He's incredibly gentle with his work, so very rarely do you wince or clench your teeth in pain - and in the case that does happen, he's quick to apologize and make sure you're alright.
. ☾ . .
HOLLYBERRY COOKIE ;
Hollyberry Cookie is incredibly outgoing and energetic - always full of life and passion. She's the life of the party, and whether or not you're more extroverted or introverted, she's fully understanding and makes sure that you're always having a good time to the best of her ability.
The Hollyberry Kingdom is typically always packed, filled with laughter and berry juice - a smell that you grow accustomed to very quickly. Her kingdom is very well known for parties and get-togethers, so it's not often that the marble halls of magentas and cream are silent. It can get a little overwhelming, but Hollyberry often spends most of her time at these parties with you, and when she notices you're getting overwhelmed, she takes you to a quieter part of the castle.
Just like with Hollyberry, Wildberry Cookie is very much by your side often. His stoic posture and serious nature can be a bit intimidating at times, but he's incredibly caring and deeply cares for your well-being, just as he cares for Hollyberry's. Any Cookie that Queen Mother carries a deep love for is someone that Wildberry will protect no matter what.
He gives you both personal space when needed, guarding the two of you with an iron fist (quite literally). Expect your protection and safety to be rather high, as Hollyberry Cookie would never let anything happen to you. Her famous shield can protect you from any attack, and she's fully willing to throw herself into danger if it means keeping you safe and out of harms way.
Pitaya Dragon Cookie is well-aware of this relationship between you and Hollyberry Cookie, and Hollyberry has made it very clear that the dragon is not to bring you into harms way - or they'll have to answer to her shield, and she won't spar with them anymore. The red dragon will merely grumble incoherent nonsense, but will abide by these rules at the end of the day.
. ☾ . .
GOLDEN CHEESE COOKIE ;
You're her favorite treasure, no doubt about that. You are one of her greediest desires, and not a single misfortune should ever befall you so long as the radiant queen has you in her sight. Golden Cheese Cookie spoils you rotten, and every time you might insist that you don't need anymore gifts, she merely laughs and you get even more.
She spreads out her wings and will lift you up, gliding through the skies of the desert, the wind breezing up against both of you as you two would soar high into the skies, getting an absolute gorgeous view of the desert, the cheesebirds, and the horizon off in the distance.
Mozzarella Cookie absolutely makes bets between Smoked Cheese Cookie and Burnt Cheese Cookie when it comes to the relationship of you and Golden Cheese Cookie. She playfully teases both of you, and finds the relationship absolutely adorable.
You want something? You get it. There's not a single thing that Golden Cheese Cookie can't get her greedy hands on - every single one of your desires will be fulfilled, just as she fulfills the desires of her most treasured subjects. Everyday of your life is essentially paradise, and she'll stop at nothing to make you happy.
After the Dark Flour War, if she lost you - she would be destroyed. Losing her kingdom, her precious subjects, Burnt Cheese Cookie, Smoked Cheese Cookie and Mozzarella Cookie .. and you. Her hands holding up the small remains of her kingdom in defeat.
But she would never let you go. Never let anything that was hers disappear without a trace. She'll create the Virtual Golden City, like the war never happened. She'll be able to see you again - not as a bunch of cookie crumbs, but as the walking, talking, you. She'll salvage everything she can of those she treasured most, and this time - she won't lose you. Never again.
. ☾ . .
DARK CACAO COOKIE ;
Dark Cacao Cookie is very serious - a cookie known and revered for his blade, where the two dragons remain sealed. His resolution is great, yet so is his love for you. He's not naturally very soft or calm, so such moments are a rarity, but that does not bother you.
Living in such freezing cold temperatures is something you always struggled adjusting to, but Dark Cacao Cookie does everything in his power to keep you warm and safe within the walls of his kingdom. Whenever the two of you must trudge through the snow, he keeps you close, his warmth keeping the two of you warm through the treacherous environment.
Caramel Arrow Cookie and Crunchy Chip Cookie are very devoted to their king, and seeing him smile at the sight of you warms their hearts greatly. They usually spend time hanging out around you and the three of you often hang out whenever Dark Cacao Cookie must attend to his duties, which leaves you at the mercy of their playful teasing.. that usually ends in a trip to get boba.
After the Dark Flour War, his decline and isolation in his kingdom broke your heart. You tried, desperately, to bring back that resolve in his heart, but there was not much you could do. The damage had been done, and his friends were separated - and all of Earthbread felt the repercussions.
Gingerbrave and friends brought back that spark within him, and you reassured him that you'd never leave his side. Not now, not ever. He may have lost his way, but that didn't make you love him any less. Dark Cacao Cookie had always been faced with burden, and through the many years, he's always supported you - and now it was your turn to support him.
He's incredibly protective over you. Anything that dares threaten you will be put to an end with a swift strike of his sword. Whether it's Stormbringer Cookie's Heaven Splitter, or it's Mystic Flour Cookie's trickery, nothing will bring you harm when he is around. Especially after his awakening, he is now stronger than ever - and no shred of darkness will be able to come your way.
. ☾ . .
WHITE LILY COOKIE ;
Similar to Pure Vanilla Cookie, White Lily Cookie is incredibly gentle and soft-spoken. She's intelligent, curious, and very powerful. She's often on her own path, with you by her side, going from kingdom to kingdom. Unlike her dearest friends, she didn't have her own kingdom - choosing to roam the land rather than stopping and settling down.
The two of you roam the world together, with almost every inch of Crispia having been seen by the two of you - walking side by side. Searching in every nook and cranny for answers to White Lily's biggest question: Why were cookies created?
You wouldn't lie and say that such a question piqued your interest as well. White Lily Cookie wanted to see the witches, and from the endless amounts of research that the two of you conducted over the years, you both discovered the event known as the Night of the Witches, held once in a thousand years.
White Lily Cookie was very adamant on getting to this banquet - and was overjoyed when you agreed to come with her. The two of you eventually arrived to Beast-Yeast, where, after saving Silverbell Cookie, you both were welcomed into the Faerie Kingdom and became very good friends with Elder Faerie Cookie.
You and White Lily Cookie settled in the Faerie Kingdom longer than most other places you both would stop at momentarily to gather bearings, before continuing the journey. During these moments of standstill, White Lily Cookie was often seen with her hand intertwined with yours - both of you walking side-by-side, always and forever.
You both would be cooped up in libraries, reading large scrolls and ancient texts together. On the occasions when the two of you weren't researching, you'd be strolling the Faerie Kingdom with her and talking with the other Faerie Cookies, or standing on the wooden bridge dressed in flowers - watching the river water run through softly.
The Night of the Witches was the last time you saw White Lily Cookie for a long time. You awoke late that night, only to realize that White Lily Cookie was gone, with nothing but a small note left behind in her spot. Her note was written in her delicate handwriting, where she apologized for leaving without you - promising to return.
She didn't want you to be put in danger.
Elder Faerie Cookie did everything he could to comfort you as the days went by - with no sign or message of White Lily Cookie's return.
When the Dark Flour War commenced, all you could do was watch the chaos unfold with horror - as Dark Enchantress Cookie's terror wrecked havoc all throughout Earthbread. You didn't know what the feeling was - but just from the glimpses of Dark Enchantress Cookie you could see, you knew that it was her.
The glass casket that was once empty was suddenly filled with an unconcious White Lily Cookie - who was no longer truly herself. Now, she was merely half a cookie. With no way of awakening her without the Light of Freedom, you spent countless days protecting her casket, hoping for the day that she might return.
. ☾ . .
SHADOW MILK COOKIE ;
ohhhh boy. this one's a doozy.
Shadow Milk Cookie is extreeeemly clingy. For an Ancient Cookie who was once baked to be the Virtue of Knowledge, he knows everything about you. Of course, this Knowledge is twisted by the fact that his very existence has been distorted into what is now the Beast of Deceit, meaning that he is incredibly unpredictable.
Due to his clinginess, it's very often that his embrace is wrapped around you. Whether it's a sudden hug, your hands being yanked as you're suddenly forced into a dance - a serenade between you both, or his puppeteer strings keeping you locked in place so that you can't leave his side, Shadow Milk Cookie doesn't hesitate to keep you near him at almost all time, whenever he can.
If the two of you had met prior to his fall into darkness, he was one of the most caring, understanding Cookies you knew. But that Cookie you once knew was long gone, now replaced with a twisted version of himself. His morality and ideals gone with a flick of a wrist.
Try as you might to get away, there's nowhere on Earthbread where Shadow Milk Cookie cannot find you. When he's got his sights on you, it's over. There's really nothing you can do. The only moments of peace you would've ever received were during the countless years the Beasts were sealed away into the Silver Tree.
Your friends, such as Pure Vanilla Cookie, White Lily Cookie, and Gingerbrave, would do everything in their power to keep you safe, which Shadow Milk Cookie only finds annoying. These lowly thieves and weakling Cookies attempting to keep him from his beloved? Such blasphemy! The only thing he finds mildly entertaining about it is seeing his favorite marionette protecting his beloved - you.
Candy Apple Cookie most definitely listens in to his long, looong tangents about you. The way he compliments and adores everything about you, from your dough, your eyes, your clothes, everything about you is flawless to him. When he'd been sealed away in the Silver Tree, he longed to see your face again - it'd just been sooo long!
The guy loves theatrics. Especially when it comes to making cardboard cutouts and acting out in dazzling plays - and it's very clear where the favoritism lies. Those who Shadow Milk Cookie considers his friends are clearly drawn with detail and precision, while those he despises are drawn poorly, messily - meant to insult and mock.
Yours, however, is drawn with such meticulous detail, down to every last drop of color, just like his. When he acts out these plays, your puppet and his are always together - with his best vocal impression of you aweing Shadow Milk Cookie, boosting his own ego. All you can do is watch in disbelief at this so-called 'fictitious' play, while your friends silently pity you.
Definitely haunts your dreams, similarly to how he haunts Pure Vanilla Cookie's. You're not quite sure how he does it, but with how powerful he is and with his strength growing day by day, it's safe to say that you get less and less hours of sleep as the nights go on. Though, you can't stay awake forever - and when you fall asleep, he'll be there.
You can't get away from him. Trying to run away only results in blue puppet strings dragging you right back to him, where he scolds you for going "off-script". He finds your attempts at escaping entertaining, so he allows it to happen - letting you get that briefest glimpse of hope, only to snatch you up in his hands and shatter that glimmer of light you'd been clinging onto, dragging you back into the darkness with him.
There's nowhere to run. You're his, and his alone, till the end of time.
. ☾ . .
BURNING SPICE COOKIE ;
...this guy is really scary.
Burning Spice Cookie is known as the Great Destroyer, merciless and vile. He crushes hundreds of Cookies and other Wild Spices who dare even look in his direction the wrong way. Everything to him is meaningless and boring, things that will be inevitably destroyed. It's all a pointless cycle of rise and fall.
But you are a loophole in this cycle. He's not too sure what makes you so special .. or why his eyes light up in a firey passion when he sees you, some random Cookie who should've been reduced to ashes in the sand within seconds of being spotted by the Great Destroyer himself. He can't quite put his finger on it, but his mind races just at the sight of you.
With how he is, upfront and demanding, he wastes no time catching you. With his army of Wild Spices and his general, Nutmeg Tiger Cookie, you are quickly overwhelmed and outnumbered by many. Try as much as you can to run away and hide, you will be caught.
Burning Spice Cookie enjoys the thrill of the chase, the little game of hide and seek he plays with you as he and his entire army hunt you down, but his excitement is only satisfied when you are finally caught, thrown onto the sand in front of him, left at his complete mercy.
You are taken to his temple, and are kept under constant surveillance by him and Nutmeg Tiger Cookie, with you next to him at all costs. Any attempts at escape are practically impossible, and with his sheer strength, you wouldn't dare test such dangerous waters.
Very clingy, similar to Shadow Milk Cookie. His grip is incredibly strong, and just the slightest bit of strength would easily shatter your dough - but, surprisingly enough, Burning Spice Cookie knows to be gentle with a frail Cookie such as yourself. Every move and every thing you say feels like you're constantly walking on eggshells.
One wrong move, and you could be crumbs. Burning Spice Cookie is not opposed to threatening you with such words, knowing that your fear will keep you complicit, make you cower and not dare to think of the slightest possibility of escaping.
His chuckles of victory over this little game between you and him are all that echo within the walls of his temple as he sits on his throne, with you by his side, always.
. ☾ . .
MYSTIC FLOUR COOKIE ;
Mystic Flour Cookie is incredibly interesting and isn't like the other Beasts. She sees all things as utterly futile, and how everything is doomed to crumble and fade away as time passes on. She merely brings upon a quick, swift end to suffering Cookies, letting them pass on to be free of all burden.
Yet, through her countless years of existing, fulfilling the wishes and desires of all Cookies to the point of trapping herself within a cocoon, she never thought that she, herself, would have another wish beyond her goals of the world turning to pale flour.
Her goals remain the same, only now, she wants you to be with her as the world eventually crumbles to nothing but colorless flour. The two of you standing over the remains of a once broken world, the two of you as the sole survivors, the last remaining Cookies to walk Earthbread. Together, you both will fade into nothingness.
A perfect, peaceful end the two of you will share. But until her goals are truly fulfilled, you and her have eternity to prepare for that moment.
You may not agree with her ideals, but it does not matter to her. You will eventually see the truth, the futility of it all, and come to terms with her morals and beliefs - and be with her. Cloud Haetae Cookie will sing of her praises, filling your head with doubt and confusion about which side is truly the good side.
For Mystic Flour Cookie, she has existed since the dawn of Earthbread, alongside the other Beast Cookies - yet no Cookies have fascinated her more than you. She can only smile as you so desperately try to flee and escape your destiny, but in the end, you will understand.
She can wait till the end of time. You'll come running back to her in the end.
