chronic fatigue from mental illness and neurodivergency isn't something you can just will your way out of. your nervous system is part of your body. your brain is an organ. the fatigue is real. you're not lazy. so be kinder to yourself. be gentler with your bodymind.

now more than ever I think it's important for people to remember that puberty blockers *were* the compromise position.
if you start from a position that trans people should have equal rights in society, then it becomes obvious that all the faux concern about "irreversible changes" is utter bs, because puberty itself is irreversible, and these people want all trans people to be forced to go through the wrong one
the people calling for our healthcare to be banned don't give a single solitary fuck about the "irreversible changes" that they want every single trans person to be forcibly subjected to

people trying to insist a fandom is tiny when it /only/ has a few thousand works on ao3 meanwhile my current fandom is a sixteen book series and has several hundred fewer works than goncharov, a movie that, and i cannot stress this enough, doesn’t even exist

idk where it was but i remember reading an excerpt of something about how child victims of sexual assault often come up with strategies to protect themselves (mentally or physically) as well as protect one another, despite often being depicted as helpless objects that have things done to them with no reaction. & then i think about how widely accepted it was in my middle + high schools that you could not depend on the counselors for jack shit, especially if you were a mentally ill kid. its just aggravating how children are never seen as active subjects. children are seen as deserving of protection, but you are never allowed to help yourself. you must wait for an adult to decide you are worthy of help, and you only get what help they decide you need. in middle school i got in trouble for skipping math class to have panic attacks in the bathroom. no one asked why i had panic attacks, they just reprimanded me for not going to the counselor (they also did not ask why i, a child with social anxiety, felt safer alone than with an adult i did not know or trust). so often i see kids who are struggling with bullying get told "tell an adult!" with 0 acknowledgement of how the adults in their life may be completely unhelpful or actively dangerous, and how kids are often extremely aware of this dynamic. me and my friends were a mentally ill children who were abused but not in the exact ways which are acknowledged as dangerous abuse (and even if they were, many children do not want to risk being put in the system for various reasons) and we had to share knowledge of the adults in our lives to protect ourselves and each other. this is all very rambly but i just hate how children's knowledge and strategies for survival are not recognized. i hate how children have a right to safety but only if its an adult doing the saving- because if they take matters into their own hands they are punished for it. safety, whether intentionally or not, can end up being another way for adults to exert control over children's actions & deny their autonomy because children are still seen as objects to be managed by adults instead of people in their own right

"I originally wrote this piece in July 2024 after a lot of conversations with my wife, who is estranged from most of her family including her parents and brother, about how hard it can be for queer and trans people to take that plunge and set hard, lasting boundaries with people they may love but cannot continue to have in their lives. I imagine many more queer and trans people are thinking of taking that plunge given this week’s election results.
Holidays that traditionally center family gatherings and meals are fast approaching — from Thanksgiving to Hanukkah to Christmas — and many queer and trans people will have to decide whether to break bread with loved ones who voted for Trump. Many do not get a choice, especially when it comes to LGBTQ+ youth who live at home and risk violence or getting kicked out if they were to speak up.
If you do have a choice, if you are scared to cut ties or begin the process of cutting ties (which often takes a long time, as some of the stories below demonstrate), then hopefully these accounts from a range of queer and trans folks on the other side of estrangement can help you feel less alone. They will show you there are many ways to set boundaries and that estrangement can look like a lot of things — from no contact to limited contact and things in between. You do not have to settle for the family you’ve been given. Chosen family won’t just make you feel loved but can also be crucial for your personal mental health and the fight for liberation."

The MASH writers were like okay so Hawkeye is a womanizing gentile from Maine and Alan Alda was like yes but what if instead of that he was a sleepy gangly Jewish-coded New York bisexual who talks like Groucho Marx wouldn't that be sexier and they were forced to admit that yes in fact that would be sexier

Muppet Fact #1282
Disney has announced that Muppet*Vision 3D will close and be replaced with a new Monsters Inc. Land. The attraction, which opened in 1991, was the last project Jim Henson worked on before his passing.
The Muppets will still be present in the Disney parks with the re-theming of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

has anyone noticed lately how black friday deals or any type of "sale" deals aren't actually deals. like i had something on my amazon wishlist that was $19.99 before, and now it's saying it WAS $49.99 but is on sale for $19.99 for a "black Friday deal." as if it wasn't just $19.99 two weeks ago at regular price. like these damn websites atp are straight up lying and trying to trick people into thinking something is on sale/is a good deal when it's not. and this isn't exclusive to that one item or even just amazon. i've been seeing it everywhere. the fuck

Being an asshole is not in the DSM. Not everyone you hate is mentally ill and not everyone who does bad things is mentally ill either.
The DSM is a highly flawed and politicized way to define mental health disabilities that I have a lot of personal gripes with, but even THEY don't have "Shitty Asshole Disease" as a mental illness.
