Topher Bus really, truly, undeniably loves being Christopher Columbus. Society at large doesn't like this of course and he'll exhibit the necessary self-loathing but at the opportunity of being loved for who he is, he much prefers that. That's why he's a lot happier in S3, Topher is with people who accept who he is and thus he can accept who he is and be happy about it. That's why he wants to stay in Cloney Island, he does get to be Christopher Columbus and loved like that like he always wanted.

Because it makes some people happy, and that includes himself.

it sucks how much they butchered joan and abe's characters. abe is just an annoying whiny scapegoat whose only role is to be joan's crush (sometimes??), and don't even get me started on joan. i understand that they're supposed to be the "main relationship" of the show, but if this was an attempt at trying to make me like them together then i'm sorry, but they failed horribly. at least their portrayal in s1 was funny and genuine and not a cringefest. its almost as if they were trying to make them unlikable on purpose. it's just so frustrating that they aren't able to grow as characters, and it says a lot that the show ended in the exact same way it did 20 years ago: cancelled and with the same dumb cliffhanger that was only funny once.

look guys i'm not a Joanabe shipper but c'mon, do yall think they're going to end up as just friends and JoanFK as endgame when Joan and Abe are the MAIN couple of the show??? if clone high hadn't been cancelled they were going to end up together anyway!! i really love you JoanFK shippers but your expectations were too high for the reboot 😭

tbh the s3 arc of Abe & JFK being friends lowkey kinda felt like queerbaiting... especially the whole prayer pals chastity ring thing... like idk how to explain it but that's just how it feels 2 me

I find it so weird how in seasons 2 & 3 everyone pretty much just ignored Cleo and Abe having been together... like it was pretty much the primary plot point for season 1, why was it just completely erased ?? like they could've at least had Abe & Cleo be awkward around each other for a while and that would make sense ??

also I find it weird how quickly they flattened the original social dynamics... like after everything that happened Cleo & Joan would NOT be friends that quick... they should've dragged out their whole "redemption/becoming friends" thing longer

tbh the show also kinda feels like it became what it was originally parodying... like the writers room was full of 20-somethings who didn't have any context for teen shows in the '90s/early 2000s and they modernized it too much

overall it kinda just feels like the og cast were really ooc in the reboot in general too... like I don't hate the reboot, I don't think it's as good as the original but it's not horrendous. I just think they could've handled it better...

I feel like early on in s2 we should've gotten Joan x Abe for a few episodes and then had an arc where they realize "hey, this isn't actually that great" and then they separate and it's awkward for a while but they end up friends again... I feel like that would've been a better alternative to what the hell we actually got
