It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these!!! I hope you enjoyed that chair pose because it was extremely frustrating to draw him without feeling like he wasn’t actually on the chair, especially those legs.

Virgil is a very silly man and I would like to hug him!!!! I love his little hair swoop and I adore how you write and draw him especially when he’s a little bit evil it’s wonderful. Again he is a very silly man and I would like to play with play-doh with him I think fun times would be had.

rk1k enjoying a summer bonfire for the @rk1k-summerlovin event!!! ramblings and close ups and process pics below the cut

THIS TOOK SO FUCKING LONG. there's a reason i don't render my pieces fully and it's because it's EXHAUSTING. but i'm relieved and glad that i stuck it out to the end. most of that time was spent rendering the hands and markus' face. sadly, the glow and downscale in resolution to export to tumblr obliterated a lot of those details so i'll post some close ups here.

there's a lot i'm not happy with in this piece and i've been staring at it for so long that i can't be objective about whether it looks good anymore ahahahah ;u; i think i like how the clothes turned out though! and i learned a lot about the process of rendering and things i liked and didn't like about it. i don't render things thoroughly very often but i think it's healthy for me to try it every once in awhile. (i really should do some proper studies so doing these types of things isn't so laborious).

shoutout to the rk1k server for helping me decide which piece to do (i had 2 other options for consideration that i may eventually finish)!

here's some bits of the process below. the focus for the piece was on the lighting to create a specific mood. cozy was the vibe. i started with a rough sketch and some ideas for lighting. then i cleaned up the sketch and blocked in some colors before diving into render hell where i spent way too much time rendering this. i went through a couple rounds of rendering and sometimes i had to backtrack bc i over-rendered some parts. i feel like sometimes when i render i lose a lot of the shape language and overall energy of the original sketch. it's something i definitely need to practice or at least find a balance between the two. something i'll have to keep in mind next time!!

thanks to anyone who read through my rambles <3 i was planning on posting another piece for the rk1k summer lovin' event, but this one took so long idk if i'll finish it in time ahahahha.
