THIRST AID KIT | S6E08 | RAKES, SHEIKHS, AND SHIPPING MAGNATES
There are many motivators of human behavior, but here at Thirst Aid Kit we are only interested in the most relevant one to us… Romance is what makes the world go round. And romance novels were, for both of us, foundational texts in building the two thirst experts you know and love today. So: it was time to talk about them properly.
We talked about the trends of the romance novels that marked different eras — like the heroes of so many of the books we consumed when we were growing up, novels in which the men were taciturn and brooding (and rich!) businessmen, and the women were flaxen-haired, kinda subservient, and very, well, white.
We also talked tropes — the ones we love, the ones that we will happily read over and over again, the ones we love to hate, and the ones we actually really would happily never read again (hello, ‘secret baby’ 😡)
And we talked a little about the blossoming of romance novels that featured characters that look, feel, and sound like we do! There have been so many ructions in the romance writing world, but there is also much to celebrate, and so we did. We also took some time to shoutout some of recent fave authors (warning: not an exhaustive list so just because we didn’t mention them doesn’t mean we don’t read or like your faves!)
The drabbles this week were labors of love, as always. with both of us tackling a couple of golden tropes. We were impressed by one another, as we often are. Hope you were too! You can listen to the whole episode RIGHT HERE (more ways to listen are listed below).

24 LGBT+ Books by Black Authors
I’m seeing a lot of the same books on my dash, so I spent a few hours researching some lesser-known books. These books fall across a variety of genres and age group.

“A lot of the stuff you do as an actor - or I do, because I can’t speak for everyone - is not always consciously thought out. A lot of the time, for me, it’s actually just feeling stuff, and it happens all in the moment and your body reacts.”

Adding Sound Files to Macros
okay okay okay I saw there was some interest in this after my last post so I made a little tutorial
You got to this link on wowhead -> https://www.wowhead.com/sounds
Search what ever you want in the search bar. I’ll use Thalyssra as my example! It should bring up a list of sound files as shown below.
Click on any of the names to take you to the sound file itself. You want to click on the part circled in red!!
Clicking on it should give you this smaller window as shown below
You want to copy and paste that into your WoW game. Not every sound file on wowhead will actually play so you can make a test macro to listen to it in game! Also - the sound itself will only play on your end of the computer so no one else can hear it unfortunately but for me it’s really fun and makes my characters feel more alive when I play the game!!
I’ve included an example of one of the macros I’ve written!
(#showtooltip = even though it’s a macro, I can see what the contents of the spell that I want to cast is)
(/cast Metamorphosis = makes my character cast the spell that I want)
(/script PlaySound(86895) = the command to play the in game sound file! This one is a line from Portal Keeper Hasabel, a raid boss that has some really cool one-liners that I thought fit my demon hunter)
And I do want to say I’m not the greatest at macros so anything beyond this is just out of my knowledge. I hope this was helpful though to anyone interested :D

Me as a child: I always finish books; if I open it, I read it all the way through no matter what, even if it’s boring, and I won’t start another one until I do.
Me now: *looks at book* You have five pages to draw me in completely or I snap you shut and open ao3 again.
