The “Baby Jon and the Mechs Au” tag on tumblr and the “These Family Ties” series on Ao3 are the main inspirations for this brain worm. Some parts are a result of me and a friend thinking about the mechs being parents.

I really love AUs where Jonathan Sims is raised by The Mechs. Like, this band of immortal space pirates who have fun, violence, adventure, violence…that’s about it, raising a child? Amazing. And the child is our lil Archivist? Perfect.

Now gimme a fic where it’s literally TMA but Jon can throw hands and is still the pathetic wet cat of a man that he is. The mechanisms are proud.

(Jonny would pretend to dislike small kid Jon at first but in reality he loves this kid soo much)

(Also, this is post Out. But the Aurora drags Nastya back. And when she come back the first thing she sees is her brother, not shooting someone, not yelling at someone, but holding a sleeping lil Jon Sims in his arms.)

Edit: what if Jon still sucks at using technology because he’s used to whatever the mechs have on the ship

Edit 2: what if GPTim used to have to taste test the meals Jon ate? I love the mechs but I doubt that they (or most of them, at least) would know what or how to cook human food for a growing child (no matter how much research Ivy does). Since Tim came from earth as well, and is biologically the closest to Jon

Jon gets kidnapped an Jonny’s parental instincts go off.

Like Jonny and the mechs are just chilling. Then, Jonny suddenly stands up, looks around frantically and says “we gotta go check up on the kid.” They go to Jon’s apartment and he’s not there. Jonny and the Crew are panicked.

What if Jon briefly though that Nikola was TS visiting? Nikola speaks and suddenly the Archivist goes “Hey Auncle Ts! I didn’t know you were visiting!” And then when he realizes that it’s not ts it’s just an italicized oh moment

From the heart of unimaginable suffering, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported my family 🙏🏻

Right now, famine is hitting us harder than ever, my heart cries whenever I go to the market to buy any basic necessities! The prices are crazy, and most days my children survive on just bread Hunger and thirst are destroying us, and cooking on fire increases our suffering unbearably! Severe eye and chest sensitivity, in addition to constant stomach pain due to the type of food and the way it is cooked.

All this while we flee from one place to another in fear of bombing, bullets, and imminent danger! I cannot describe what I feel, but it is a feeling beyond exhaustion!
