Saw a lot of love for Farscape on my Tumblr rounds, and can I just say: yes!
Farscape is far too underrated as a sci-fi show, so let’s talk about a few of my favourite Farscape things.
-I always loved that it had the “token” human character, inside of the “token” alien character with some extra makeup. There are aliens galore, and they are varied and fantastical. Farscape had access to Jim Henson’s creature shop and they used it.
-I always liked listening to the actor commentaries for that show, and there’s one for an episode (can’t remember which episode) where Ben Browder is talking about how it’s his favourite episode, but it’s not one that he’d recommend to a first time viewer. I always thought that was very interesting, but also representative of the show. (I think it was because the episode made no sense unless you already were familiar with the show. But like really? That’s almost every episode. This is a show you cannot pick up in the middle, and in fact, as it progresses, each episode builds on the one before it, especially season 4)
-The villains. Farscape does not have mustache twirling evil for the sake of evil villains. (Most of) the villains are merely people whose goals conflict with that of “our heroes”, and in fact, everyone on Moya is technically a criminal in the beginning.
Anyway, love to Farscape.

Seriously, the most useless people in every leftist activist group are the ones who refuse to see progress as, well, progress, and instead are obsessed with the idea of fomenting Revolution on a truly massive scale, because "that's the only way things will ever truly change." Not that they're actually going out and trying to START that revolution ever, mind you. They'll just keep telling you that that's the only real solution, and until that happens, until they can get their absolutely perfect outcome, they'll just sit on their asses and tell the rest of us that what we're doing is useless. Which is bullshit, of course.

I feel like there’s this whole subgenre of fic that just really, aggravatingly, doesn’t get bickery banter couples, which means that a lot of the content for them just ends up reading like emotional abuse.
Like! The thing about couples that bicker for fun, the thing that makes it romantic, is not ‘I hate this and I’m sad and hurt and uncomfortable, but I’ll put up with it because I love you and at some point you’ll start being nice to me’. That’s not fun bantering! That is, at best, a serious miscommunication!
The thing that makes it fun and (potentially) romantic is ‘We know each other so well that we can be rude and gross and weird together, we can transgress the rules of polite society with each other without actually causing any real hurt, because we know where the real lines are and don’t have to guess at them or use the rules from a game that neither of us wants to play.’
It’s fundamentally about intimacy, not about treating your SO like they don’t have feelings that matter.
