Bayon Temple is a step pyramid located at the center of Angkor Thom, with 55 sculptured towers, most of which have impressive carved faces staring in all four directions (zoom in to each tower). The 172 faces have similar features like almond-shaped eyes, sensuous lips and smiles which are said to be as enigmatic as the Mona Lisa. There is no clarity on what the faces represent but scholars believe they are images of Avalokitesvara, a Hindu-Buddhist deity closely identified with King Jayavarman VII. Waterworld : The floating villages on Tonlé Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the Asian region and a UNESCO heritage site. The villages are home to over 80000 people and have their own school, church, pagoda, shops etc. The lake swells to over twice its size during monsoons when water from the Mekong river rushes in and then recedes as water flows back to the Mekong after monsoons.
