At Queen + Paul Rodgers concert on 3 April 2006 in Anahaim, California, USA, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins brought Brian’s Red Special guitar down the catwalk to him after Brian played ‘Love of My Life’. Under normal circumstances, this was the job of Pete Malandrome. He also bowed to Brian, after which Brian seemed embarrassed by it and threw his hands up. Brian later said he didnt know Taylor was going to do that beforehand.”

“Freddie had recieved some death threats over the years. One particular one was during a time Queen were in London. Freddie wasn’t living in the Garden Lodge yet, and Queen were due to make a music video. That still went ahead and Freddies personal assistant Peter “Phoebe” Freestone had to stay at Freddie’s flat, with a policeman, just in case the murderer turned up there. Freddie was once also threatened with a broken bottle in a bar when someone got upset when Freddie didn’t want to talk to him. Also, Queen were on a European tour and were told about a threat against their lives just before a show. The entire band, except Roger moved around the stage a bit more than usual, although Roger would have been protected by his drums and cymbals.”

“When Elton John found out that Freddie was going to South Africa to perform with Queen, he told Freddie to buy diamonds. He did this and on one of his days off at the hotel, a jeweler arrived with a brief case. When it opened, the man spread out a piece of cloth then the envelopes there was an amazing collection of diamonds all colors and sizes. Freddie sat there waving his arms and giggling, singing ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’. After checking the diamonds out, he finally decided to get two. One of them was a large champagne color and the other was described as cognac, both the size of a small bird’s egg. He brought them back to London, and after keeping them at home a few days he sent them to the bank vault and never saw them again”
