My final animation.
I didn't end up using my illustrations in this project, as the typeface already has a lot of character and it has a grungy style which would have not matched the clean look of my illustrations. I think the typeface I used and the way that I animated the text already has a lot of impact and speaks for itself without me having to overload the video with imagery.
I decided to leave majority of the text black since the background is coloured and changes from blue to red throughout the video and adding colour to the text would be overdoing it. I wanted to keep the animation simple and straightforward.
I intentionally chose a more melancholy song choice to push the main idea of Greta Thunberg's speech being that the world is suffering from an urgent climate crisis.

Greta Thunberg Research
Greta Thunberg is an environmental activist who gained global recognition for her efforts to combat climate change. She started missing school to protest outside the Swedish Parliament, demanding action on climate change. Thunberg's speeches and passionate approach have caused her to gain fame and prominence and she became a poster child for climate action worldwide. Students around the world started following in her footsteps by striking from school to raise awareness about the need for climate action to save the earth. She calls on world leaders to take immediate action to address the climate crisis and save the planet.

"Thunberg began a global movement by skipping school: starting in August 2018, she spent her days camped out in front of the Swedish Parliament, holding a sign painted in black letters on a white background that read Skolstrejk för klimatet: “School Strike for Climate.” In the 16 months since, she has addressed heads of state at the U.N., met with the Pope, sparred with the President of the United States and inspired 4 million people to join the global climate strike on September 20, 2019, in what was the largest climate demonstration in human history. Her image has been celebrated in murals and Halloween costumes, and her name has been attached to everything from bike shares to beetles. Margaret Atwood compared her to Joan of Arc. After noticing a hundredfold increase in its usage, lexicographers at Collins Dictionary named Thunberg’s pioneering idea, climate strike, the word of the year."

Greta Thunberg Speech Transcript
The world had 420 Gigatons of c02 left to emit back on January 1 2018. Today that figure is already down to less than 350 Gigatons. How dare you pretend that this can be solved with just business as usual and some technical solutions. With today’s emissions levels, that remaining c02 budget will be entirely gone within less than 8 and a half years.
