I love how the Lana and Clark conversation in the second episode of season 3 (in my opinion) is truly set up like:
Lana, in her head: it’s probably bipolar disorder or something. That’s why he has episodes where he’s “not himself” and becomes dangerous and I don’t recognize him.
Clark, in his head: “how the fuck do I tell this girl I’m an alien & I was high on the sex rock”

Smallville Clark Kent is superior because he does look like he came from a farm. His shirtless scenes are not dehydrated outlined musculature, he looks strong from chucking hay barrels. He does not have his buccal fat removed, because the Kents are poor. He wears ratty clothes. He's a head taller than everybody else. He misses the bus on a regular basis.
