“They've promised that dreams can come true - but forgot to mention that nightmares are dreams, too.”
A concept I did for @Rumple's creative evening on Whouffaldi Discord server. A collection of Twelveclara nightmares ! Happy spooky month 🦇

I'm rewatching Dark Water/Death in Heaven, can't decide.
#both?#she spent the night looking at the stars with the Doctor when she should’ve been deciding what to tell Danny#it’s clear he was second priority to her#I think seeing orson pink made her believe she could have a normal human life and relationship#if it wasn’t for orson I don’t think she would’ve been so involved in the relationship#she wanted to have her cake and eat it too#but as we often see traveling with the Doctor is sacrificing your life on earth#I think she strung Danny along in case things didn’t work with the doctor#she’d have somebody else#all he wanted was for her not to lie to him and be devoted to him as he was to her#but danny and the doctor did not trust or like each other to protect and care for clara so in the end it was#choose#travel with the doctor#stay with danny pink#I think she was going to confess she couldn’t leave the doctor#but ask him to travel with them for them to bond and tell him about orson pink#attempt to have them get along and she wouldn’t have to choose#when danny died#she felt guilty#maybe it was a bit of a relief?#she wasn’t tied down to a life on earth anymore she could run away with her space man and not look back#that isn’t how you’re supposed to feel when your ‘true love’ dies#she realizes she’s lied to him this whole time#she loves the idea of being with danny and growing old together but she’s in love with the Doctor#she thinks she’s owed better than that feeling#a better resolution. danny is owed better she wanted a do over#all he wanted was for her not to lie and the last thing she told him was a lie#riddled with guilt and grief#she was owed better. Danny was owed better. This time she’ll get it right this time she’ll stay behind and stop holding onto a fairytale#face reality with danny pink.

I will die on a hill defending clara. No one tried to understand her and judged her for her reaction when she was still trying to process seeing the doctor age, die then change right before her, in under 24 hours.
Sure she’s seen his other faces but she never saw him regenerate, she doesn’t know what it means or what it’s like. When he didn’t recognize her and was clearly feeling the effects of regeneration- it must’ve been such a shock.
She knew for her it was less than a day, for the doctor it was hundreds of years. How those years must’ve changed him, affected him, changed the way he saw her, and she could see and feel it.
When she asked Jenny“If Vastra changed, if she was different, if she wasn't the person that you liked?”
And Jenny says,“I don't like her, ma'am. I love her. And as to different? Well, she's a lizard”
I felt like it wasn’t really what she was asking, she fell in love with Vastra even as a lizard, but if Vastra suddenly changed and was different from who she fell In love with, then how would she react? What would she do then?
It always bugged me.
You know what I don't see acknowledged enough? Most notably that the show never explains it, but I've also never seen fans put it into words.
Why Clara is so unsettled by 12 looking old when he regenerates. There's a whole thing in Deep Breath of Jenny and Vastra assuming the worst, that she wanted him young and pretty, but once Clara shuts that down they just ignore that she was unsettled by his age and focus on her seeing him as The Doctor, despite the change. They never take the time to acknowledge why she had that issue.
There are two big reasons, the one they actually imply a little is that when he looked young he felt approachable, like a peer, someone she could be comfortable with and stand beside, not someone standing over her (and that also reflects in their personalities; 11 was casual and easily put off balance by Clara being forward or flirty or controlling, while 12 (at this point) pretends he can't see her properly and is mature and disconnected and unflappable by anything she does.
But the big part... She just watched 11 age a millennium in a few hours. She watched, in drips and drabs, him live out his regeneration for so long that he died of old age, more or less. Then he regenerates, and instead of a whole new life, he's already old. How long does he have, when he starts off old? Does she have to prepare for another death already, when she just faced one, and had to fight to get him one last chance at life?

It kinda blows my mind that "Clara isn't a good companion" and "Heaven Sent is one of the best episodes of the entire show" are two seemingly co-existing popular opinions.
Like, I kinda get where it comes from because the episode has a lot of things going for even when not accounting for the exploration of The Doctor's relationship with Clara, but to me is like if you said "I love Blink but I hate the weeping angels".
Sure, there's other things going on in the episode but like... They are kind of a big part of it you know.
