I just finished deleting about 200 posts with NG quotes, photos, reblogs, and other things. I'm not even going to pretend it didn't hurt, but it hurt more to read words i loved before and see the name of the author below; it made my stomach turn again and again.
So, yeah...

if you're aware of the Vulture article on Neil Gaiman, there's not much i can add; if you aren't and you go looking, my only advice is that if you hit a point where you're wondering if you should bail, do so, because the details of his behavior only get more vile as it goes along.
however, one thing i WILL say is to be on the lookout for smear campaigns against the sources and/or the journalist, Lila Shapiro, in the coming weeks and months. i cannot stress enough how brave this article is. if there's one thing more hazardous to your reputation than blowing up a rich and influential serial predator in the entertainment industry, it's making the church of scientology look bad, and she's managed to do both in one stroke. remember Lila Shapiro's name, and be extremely skeptical if it suddenly turns up later this year as the target of some slimy allegation.

I've read awful comments about her, but i am not mad at Amanda Palmer, tho maybe i should be. I think she probably fell for him like the rest of the world, i think she wared with herself for a long time about what she began learning about him years after they were married and convinced herself it could not be true or as bad and pervasive as it was, as we often do; and later i think she was worried about the divorce and keeping her son safe, while getting emotionally and financially drained by Gaiman. I don't like what she did, but i don't want to judge her. This whole mess of horrors is on him; he pretended he was trustworthy and an ally, he prayed on vulnerable women in precarious circumstances, he pretended to be supportive and kind and wise for all the people that admired him, he charmed and deceived us. He has betrayed us all and committed atrocities because he wouldn't deal with his demons.
Whatever her contribution, this is on him.
Another reminder that, if you find yourself angrier at Palmer than Gaiman, Gaiman is aware of that. He knows that people will try to find a woman to blame. Look, he says. My bitch ex-wife is what got your gay angel show canceled.
Be mad at her for leading vulnerable woman to a predator. Be mad at her for stonewalling the cops and writing a shitty song about how she wasn’t complicit. Hell, be mad at her for her moral philosophy boiling down to “people should do things for me for free.” I’ve been carrying a grudge ever since she decided not to pay her touring musicians.
But remember — Palmer made it easier for Gaiman to prey on fans. She is NOT the one responsible. That is not how men like Gaiman operate. He would always find ways to abuse vulnerable people, with or without her.

Not gonna lie this made me sick to my stomach and incredibly sad
Even the men we think are safe and kind are monsters?
This just made me feel hopeless, but glad i'm single, there are no men in my life, and i'll be happy to become a gray old spinster witch.
Non paywalled link to the new Vulture article in NY Mag about Neil Gaiman’s multiple acts of sexual abuse and rape.
