Well I realized I never posted this on their own before. And since Butterfly Effect is approaching 2k hits (you guys are insane), I figured I would post this Odin for you!

Inspired by @frayed-symphony s TOS template, I of course had no shame making a version myself! It's a little wider and based on the ports rather than the original, but I seriously love both versions so much. Also I just wanna promote this once more lol

Friendly reminder that I made a Cruxis-Raine AU that one time and somehow I thought about it again this morning 👀 I also felt like trying some updated techniques for a change

Okay imma add a little to that because ahahaha I had 2 seconds to think about it.

I do think a mutation could happen slowly after a keycrest is removed, kinda like a tumor spreading. It's difficult to put something back once it's out of control. Think trying to push a river back into its original bed after its gotten out of control.

I could see external factors pushing into this though. Like if you are light-alligned and are in a place where it's mostly dark-mana, you would be handling a possible mutation way easier than somewhere else. Also things like emotions and stress could trigger a possible later mutation in contrast to an instant one. I would consider removing a keycrest a stressful situation, which could be the initial trigger for a mutation int he first place.

There's possibly also the fact that, if we consider expheres having seperate mana-flows, that they "vibrate" in a certain way, the host body could be way more stable and the host body to adapt to it more easily. If a crystal is made from a relative, you'd be able to resonate with it more easily (hinthint).

Long shot since idk how active you are on here, but I would like for you to infodump as much as you know and speculate about Exbelua and Exsphere aptitudes please; like, I know removing an Exsphere without a keycrest results in this mutation, but do you think this can this also happen after a certain period of time whilst it's still attached? Does it or these host body testing have any correlation to an individual's mana signature? I also keep thinking about Rhodyle's transformation after equipping the fake Cruxis Crystal and wondering if that kind of phenomenon happens with regular Exspheres, with the body reacting extremely badly to the stone.

Well I am so glad you asked! I literally compiled a HUGE file of Expheres and Exbeluas a while ago!

Rhodyle is such a special case imo though. I do think that his fake Cruxis Crystal fucked with his mana flow, thus leading to the mutation, but since it WAS in parts a cruxis crystal (maybe just a partially mutated Exphere?), it does have some body-control powers. It could absolutely be that he was able to keep control over his body even after mutation due to those control-abilities, but exploded as soon as this excessive control was shut down and his mana just did whatever.

In short: I find Expheres so fucking fascinating <3
