Obligatory Ides of March Post: The Eid Mar Denarius
The silver coin minted by Brutus to celebrate the assassination of Julius Caesar. As you can tell by the inclusion of his own portrait, Brutus was a very humble guy.

Here is the Eid Mar denarius on display at the British museum that I saw last year. If you happen to be near the British museum and are feeling celebratory, why not take a look at this immensely famous ancient coin .

The oldest coin in my collection
A Rs$40 Brazilian coin from 1889.
It looks like the one above but it's darkened and my phone camera has a hard time focusing on the details.
It's worth around $10 CAD.

was gifted $100 for my birthday with two versions of the $50 note! It’s nice to see the differences between them, i like the addition of the swan and wattle motifs, but i miss the more complex designs of the older notes microtext background.

generally i do like my banknotes in uncirculated mint condition but there’s something absolutely beautiful to me about banknotes that were made and very obviously used during historically significant periods.
the very first hyperinflation banknote i ever bought myself was folded and a bit browned and i couldn’t help but be amazed that this guy was not only there but actively participated in an insanely tumultuous time.
it’s similar with coins, although i feel like they show their wear in a different kind of way. holding a cartwheel coin is amazing not only because because it’s a neat piece of history, but also because i’m holding the accumulation of so many stupid decisions.

My lovely Levs! First Lev (top) & Second Lev (Bottom)
All I need now is Third & Forth Levs!
Gotta say, though, the Second Lev; brass, 5 Stotinki (1951 C.E.) is my personal favourite between the two
