Week 4 blog
This week I read pages 155 - 185 of the book “I want to die but I want to eat tteokbokki” by Baek Sehee.
The most important sentence in my opinion is on page 157 “My mother always thought of herself as having no confidence and being stupid.” After said quote she explains how she picked up on that habit and started exhibiting them herself. I think it’s important because it shows how much weight words carry and how children pick up the habits of others, especially parents.
This is my last week with this book. The book ended with her telling stories from her childhood. Despite how boring the book got toward the end I still enjoyed this book. In my opinion it was a good book and brings awareness to mental health.

Week 3 blog
This week I read pages 105 - 155 of the book “I want to die but I want to eat tteokbokki” by Baek Sehee.
The most important sentence in my opinion is on page 115 “Your perspective of yourself is so narrow and self-critical that you’re unable to see things from a wider perspective, and so you goad yourself into choosing just one angle, which is the easiest way out.” I think a lot of people can relate to this statement. Throughout this book she has a negative outlook on herself and tends to speak negatively of herself.
the more I read this book honestly the book is getting a little boring it follows the same routine. It goes back and forth between her speaking low of herself and feeling down to her getting a little bit better then back to her feeling low which is a realistic representation of someone with depression because someone isn't always negative or sad all the time and it's not an easy and quick process of healing from depression.

Week 2 Blog
This week I read pages 55 - 105 of the book “I want to die but I want to eat tteokbokki” by Baek Sehee.
The most important sentence in my opinion is on page 59 “What matters isn’t what people say but what you like and find joy in. I hope you focus less on how you look to other people and more on fulfilling your true desires.” I picked this quote because throughout the book so far it shows baek constantly over thinking, focusing heavily on her flaws and issues. She mentions how it's hard for her to feel normal. She also mentions how she's not good at being alone and she depends on others to make her feel less lonely. She focuses a lot on how other people perceive her, that she doesn't take the time to actually enjoy herself and do things she likes which is understandable since her mental health takes a lot out of her.
The book is continuing with the same setting with dialogue between Baek and her psychiatrist. It talked a lot about her friendships and her dependency on others. How she often feels lonely and she combats that by surrounding herself with others. It also talked about the standard she holds herself too and how she compares herself to her friends. But things aren't all bad for her. She spoke about how she had a good week and that she likes herself more, and liked how she was getting back into her hobbies, but she is struggling with one of her friendships.
