I realized I hadn’t posted much about Breton and Trapper despite working on them behind the scenes so here’s some fun tidbits about their story

The series takes place in the city of Capwick, an industrial nightmare of a town where everything is cold and grey.

Some fun facts about Breton are

Her full name is Breton Baker

She lives in a small condo that was gifted to her by a late relative

Her original job was a jeweler and she was into gemology, despite this she is unemployed having stopped attending work due to her mental state

Facts about Trapper

He is the only known resident to smile, which others find odd and or out of place

No one knows anything about him as he lives in a cabin in the woods and never shares anything with anyone other than Breton, no one even knows his full name

His parents went missing a long time ago, though no one remembers who they were

He works as a woodworker but is also a skilled hunter

I can’t wait to share more of these guys they’re super fun to write and draw and would love to show y’all more of them down the line

I completely forgot I did this but here’s a rough sketch of my interpretation of what I think Columbina looked like (inspired by taken from paintings/costumes of Columbina performers and the plethora of feathers coming from—what I heard—her name being relative to birds or doves

I do find it a bit comedic seeing as I completely forgot about this correlation and the fact my oc TFC oc is also based off a bird

Why does people do this? @nekoboydreams does not deserve that. We are so lucky we have him. All the effort he make of The Freak Circus is with every love he has. Not just for the game but for us as well. Heck I don't think I see other creators actually bother to answer questions we have (in my experience), and he answer every single one as HE COULD. We are able to learn so much about the characters because of that. Also, he is willing to make us plushy of Pierrot. He really love his fans and his games. Mistakes happened. People joke because it's their humor. I will continue to love and cherish @nekoboydreams . He deserves love and support from every single of his fans. He doesn't have to deal with aggressive people. People seriously need to think twice before saying anything. Words hurt. My gosh. Do not make this creator regret for being himself. I hope he is okay and take breaks no matter how long they are, he need it especially with how hard he works for The Freak Circus

I may not know the full story but I will defend @nekoboydreams because he created the characters I am deeply love with but also because I love the creator as well.

我本人非常非常喜爱怪胎马戏团，不仅是因为故事背景和人设非常具有吸引力，还有很大一部分原因是来源于作者Neko，对，没错，他是我见过目前为止最负责有趣的游戏制作人。

从他发的帖子和时不时的小更新都能看出来他对游戏制作非常的用心，在他平时很忙的前提下还会去翻看各个社交平台的评论和同人作品，并耐心的回应。在提问箱里认真的回答我们的每一个问题，并且在每一个平台都是如此。我能在他的回应里感受到他对游戏的热爱，以及被我们支持的快乐，所以，请珍惜这样的作者，请不要随意的将别人的热情浇灭，我们都希望看到一个快乐的Neko，带着他的热爱去大胆创作的Neko。而不是一个对自己产生怀疑的Neko。

我不希望Neko在创作时有太大的压力，对于我个人而言，不管游戏后续剧情是否符合我作为一个玩家的期待，我都会继续支持他，因为我对这个游戏的热爱已经有一部分原因是因为作者了！

I absolutely adore Freak Circus—not only because the story and characters are so compelling, but also because of the creator, Neko. Honestly, he’s the most dedicated and fun game developer I’ve ever seen.

You can really tell how much care he puts into this game through his posts and the little updates he shares. Even with his busy schedule, he still takes the time to read comments and fan works across different platforms, and he replies with so much patience. In the question box, he answers every single one of our questions thoughtfully, and he does the same everywhere else. Through his responses, I can feel both his love for the game and the joy he gets from our support. That’s why I hope people treasure a creator like Neko, and don’t casually extinguish someone’s passion. What we all want to see is a happy Neko—one who creates boldly out of love—not a Neko weighed down by self-doubt.

I truly don’t want him to feel too much pressure while creating. For me personally, even if the future storyline doesn’t completely align with what I might expect as a player, I’ll continue to support him. Because at this point, part of my love for the game comes from my love for the creator himself.

And finally, I want to say thank you to Freak Circus for inspiring me to start drawing—it means so much to me!

Although I do not know the full extent of what’s happened, It’s upsetting regardless this needs to be said, but it seems people’s obsession with games and fictional characters truly breeds entitlement.

Harassing and especially being aggressive towards a creator who is doing the honor of sharing their creation with us—is unacceptable, I will never take such things lightly because of the drastic outcomes it’s had on NUMEROUS indie creators—how it’s forced creators to stop projects they once loved making and how it’s hurt them physically or mentally.

I can only hope such negativity is short lived and that this can be a healthy and kind fanbase.

I truly hope the best for you Neko, always do what you think is best for you or for your creations—we will be patient with you and value your safety and health above all else <3

All of this started because of a joke I made. Something simple, just a bit of humor about my own work, but it ended up being interpreted in ways I never imagined. I’ve received a lot of messages some kind and I truly appreciate them, but also others that were harsh, and honestly, they hurt me. I’ve tried to respond carefully, but it’s painful to see my words constantly distorted, as if every answer I give is taken out of context and turned into something I never said. Because of this, I’m going to take a break from asks for a while, especially on this topic. If aggressive messages keep coming, I’ll have to disable anonymous asks, because I realize this space needs to be healthier for both me and all of you. I know how much you care about Pierrot and I care about him too, deeply. I just hope we can remember that behind the character, there’s also a person trying to share something they love. Aggression should never come from a joke.

我真的，很理解Neko，被网暴被曲解的心情，人是没有办法在突然的恶意和曲解中整理好思绪去回应这件事的，他被曲解的第一想法就是“这不是这样的，我要解释清楚”，但是别人根本不会听的，因为在他们眼中，你已经定罪了，我经历过，所以我是最了解他的人。

当初没人告诉我我该怎么做，我会试着告诉neko的，他可以做错事，但他要改，要把歪曲的轨道掰回来，我不希望他重蹈我的覆辙……

给他一点时间，好吗？

Truly, I totally understand Neko’s feelings of being cyberbullied and misunderstood. No one can sort out their thoughts to respond to something amid sudden malice and misunderstanding. His first thought when being misrepresented must be, “That’s not the case. I need to explain clearly,” but others won’t listen at all—because in their eyes, you’ve already been convicted. I’ve been through this, so I’m the one who understands him best.

Back then, no one told me what to do. Now I’ll try to tell Neko: he can make mistakes, but he has to correct them and set the distorted path back right. I don’t want him to repeat my mistakes…

Could we please give Neko a little time?

I was talking to a homie a while back and we discovered there is a female Pierrot counterpart called Pierrette, I was split on designing my oc as the Pierrette but me and my friend got an idea

Devious little sister.

I can't find it for the life of me but I remember reading something that mentioned how the Pierrette sometimes is seen accompanying the Pierrot, it gave me and my friend the idea to make Pierrot a little sister who was a menace. The type to rat him out to his crush, bother him 24/7 because she's bored, and be a smug lil shit--typical sibling stuff

I tried to invert/flip whatever Pierrot had going on style wise, like flipping which side had the black tear on their face, Pierrot having long hair and Pierrette having short hair, his stars are upright so hers are upsidedown etc.

Lore! As I mentioned, I’ve been working on this comic during my lunch breaks for a few days now! There are lots of lore snippets I jot down for worldbuilding, and usually, I don’t share them but I thought you might like to see a bit more while I work on the game.

There are still more snippets that I’m not sure if I’ll turn into comics (because it’s a lot of work), whether to just leave the written bits, or maybe make a simpler comic to illustrate them. These include:
