Scam Alert - Commissioning Artists Beware
Artists, there’s a scam going around on Twitter at the minute, and you never know, someone might try it over here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This guy is messaging commissioning artists and attempting to gain access to their PayPal by pretending to need a code to pay the bill. Obviously we all know that’s bull, but if someone isn’t paying attention, is unfamiliar with PayPal commissions as a whole, or is just desperate enough for that commission money?  They might fall for it. OP’s tweet here.
PayPal will not require a code for someone to complete payment.
It’s just not how it works, I know it, you know it, the scammer knows it.  But he’s gambling on the potential that someone (and that someone is mostly likely to be a young, new artist without much commission experience under their belt, let’s be honest) doesn’t know it.  Let’s make sure everyone does. So if you’d be so kind, please boost the everliving hell out of this.  Don’t let anyone fall prey to this shady, shady individual, either here or on twitter or anywhere else.

I’m going to save up for a new motorcycle by running a scam where I bet straight dudes at bars twenty bucks that I can get a girl’s number in under five minutes and then politely walk up her and say, “I just bet that asshole twenty bucks that I could get your number. I’ll split it with you if you pretend to laugh like I just said a good pick up line and then write a fake number on my hand.”
Like, I never understood those kind of bets in those shitty teen movies. Everybody loves being part of a scheme, man. Use your head.

Cloud Divination (Nephelomancy)
Tumblr media
Cloud Divination is the art of discovering the past, present, and future through the aid of clouds.
This type of divination is very open to interpretation since it’s determined by:
Color (Red= passion/anger, Pink= romance/relationships, Black= negative energies/death etc.)
Direction it moves in (N= Adaptability, charm, creativity, sociability, wit S= Physical strength, health, adventure, loyalty W= Confidence, business, energy, persistence E= Trust, sincerity, love, compassion)
Position of the cloud (High clouds = high chances of something happening Low clouds= low chance of something happening Center = neutral)
Shape or formation (this can mean physical shapes the clouds make such as hearts or the splitting/reforming of one or more clouds)
How to preform Nephelomancy
This practice it best preformed on a mountain top or hill where it is easier to see a wide range of the horizon
*The sky should also be bright or clear to get more accurate answers*
Lay down and look at the sky, have a specific question in mind to ask the clouds. Phrase this question to be as specific as possible so the answer can be clear.
(ex. Will I be able to repair my relationship with my friend?)
Close your eyes and clear your head of distracting thoughts, focus on the question you want answered.
When you’re ready open your eyes and look for any formations or colors in the sky
(ex. if the clouds were connected together high in the sky and are a white/pink hue there’s a high chance you can repair the friendship)
The most important thing to remember about cloud divination is that you should not force any shapes or colors you immediately see to fit into your answer. This practice requires a lot of patience and it’s okay if you don’t get an answer immediately, hence the importance of a specific question. It can take multiple tries to get one answer.
Once you’re finished remember to thank the clouds and nature for their guidance!

So, somebody asked if I did tutorials, so I thought I’d put a couple notes about my process down here in case they’re helpful to anyone.
I decided to paint this sucker on a whim (as is the case with most of my paintings), after one of @asktheboywholived‘s amazing rps of post-Azkaban Sirius showed up on my dash.
Here’s how I did it:
1. Start with a neutral background (I usually go for grey or white if I’m painting in greyscale, or some form of beige if I’m working with colour)
2. Create a new layer, and use a giant fluffy brush to map out the broader areas of light and shade, then use a progressively smaller brush to refine the features.
Pro tip: try not to zoom in too much at this stage, because when that happens you might lose track of the painting as a whole and end up working on the left nostril for like an hour. Not that I’m speaking from experience or anything.
3. Start another layer underneath the head/hair, and paint the neck (and body if you’re not me and actually paint bodies) with the same brush techniques as the face.
4. Create a new layer every time you begin a new feature that you’re nervous about, so that you don’t fuck up the current layer. For this one, that was the hands, because I’ve actually never painted hands before.
5. Begin adding details that really sell whoever it is you’re painting; for Sirius, that was the tattoos and wand (and much later, the under-eye bags/eyeliner/gaunt cheeks)
6. Fuck with the background, go back and forth for like 5 hours, second-guess yourself at least 12 times, and eventually delete everything in favour of plain white.
Total time: 2hr40ish
A few things about working with a reference image: unless I’m painting someone from a movie or someone I know, I generally don’t worry too much about getting it to look exactly like the image. Instead, I focus on light and shade, pose, proportions, and features which I have trouble with (e.g. noses, hands, mouths). For this one, I tried to make it look less like the model and a bit more like TT’s Sirius by thickening the eyebrows, emphasizing the cheekbones, and giving him some bomb-ass clavicles. It was also helpful to imagine him doing a wiggle dance/grinning slowly at the camera.
Hope that was useful! Let me know if you want more detailed tutorials like this or if you just want me to throw up the process videos and shut up.
