“Four or five years now.”
Milady took a look around herself to see if anyone needed tending to.
“I’ve run a very successful business, and have my fair share of regulars. That’s better than most taverns like mine already.”
{ ~❁~ }
“ …That’s true, “
The girl replied, taking a sip of her tea and remaining quiet for a moment as she looked around the tavern in an awkward silence.
…Probably best to move on to a different subject.
“ So, um… how long has this place been here? “

“A little chaos can do a person good.” [She stayed behind him.] “I find that some of the most exciting people cause a little chaos.”
[She linked arms with him, just so she wouldn’t lose him in the chaos.] “What would you recommend here?”
[ Claude smirked. ] “It certainly does…” [ …except he wasn’t really fond of too much darkness in his life. Sometimes he needed light to be thrown here or there. No offense to the Dusk Dragon, but…]
[ Eventually, they reached what appeared to be a busy street with people going back and forth from stand to stand in search of something they so desire. The adventurer watched and then took a sharp turn, going into a building. ] “Here we are… Just don’t mind the chaos.”

[She chuckled.]
“Same as always.” [Milady stepped back and pulled out her modern ID.]
“Turns out some connections stand the test of time. After Marie refused the throne I stayed in contact with the Phantom, you know. After we all disappear we became the new legend of the Knights. It took some time, but I found one of the descendants, and they helped me get a job here.”
[She waved to the bar around them.] “After some time I was given the opportunity to purchase it. After a quick rename I went back to doing what I’m best at. Serving wine and attracting adventurers. I just never found the right ones until I saw you just now.”
[She looked at him.] “What of you? How have you fared?”
[ The adventurer’s face turned red as he was hugged and selfishly hugged her back. A huge sigh escaped him as he nuzzled his face into her hair. ]
“I’ve missed you too, Milady. I’m just… so glad to see you again. Honestly, I wouldn’t trade the world to end this moment.”
[ …But it had to end just as quickly as it began. He broke the hug and looked to Milady. ] “…But you must fill me in on the details. What have you been up to since you arrived here? How did you manage?”

“Hamilton” sentence meme (part 1)
“ AARON BURR, SIR ”
❝ I may have punched him, it’s a blur. ❞
❝ He looked at me like I was stupid - I’m not stupid. ❞
❝ It was my parents’ dying wish before they passed. ❞
❝ Let me offer you some free advice: talk less, smile more. ❞
❝ Don’t let them know what you’re against or what you’re for. ❞
❝ Fools who run their mouths oft wind up dead. ❞
❝ What time is it? Show time! ❞
❝ Give us a verse! Drop some knowledge! ❞
❝ Who’s the best? C’est moi! ❞
❝ Ooh, who are you? ❞
“ MY SHOT ”
❝ I am not throwing away my shot. ❞
❝ I probably shouldn’t brag but damn, I amaze and astonish! ❞
❝ Don’t be shocked when your history book mentions me. ❞
❝ I will lay down my life if it sets us free. ❞
❝ When I fight, I make the other side panicky! ❞
❝ Geniuses, lower your voices. ❞
❝ You keep out of trouble and you double your choices. ❞
❝ If you talk, you’re gonna get shot! ❞
❝ What are the odds the gods would put us in one spot? ❞
❝ Am I talking too loud? Sometimes I get over excited. ❞
❝ I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory. ❞
❝ See, I never thought I’d live past twenty. ❞
❝ We have to make this moment last. ❞
“ FARMER REFUTED ”
❝ Oh my god, tear this dude apart. ❞
❝ Chaos and bloodshed are not a solution! ❞
❝ For shame, for shame… ❞
❝ It’s hard to listen to you with a straight face. ❞
❝ My dog speaks more eloquently! ❞
❝ I’d rather be divisive than indecisive, drop the niceties! ❞
❝ Honestly, you shouldn’t even talk. ❞
❝ If you repeat yourself again I’m gonna scream. ❞
“ YOU’LL BE BACK ”
❝ The price of my love’s not a price that you’re willing to pay. ❞
❝ Why so sad? ❞
❝ Remember, we made an arrangement when you went away - now you’re making me mad. ❞
❝ Despite our estrangement, I’m your man. ❞
❝ Soon you’ll see, you’ll remember you belong to me. ❞
❝ You’ll be back. ❞
❝ Time will tell, you’ll remember that I served you well. ❞
❝ No, don’t change the subject! You’re my favorite subject! ❞
❝ My sweet, submissive subject… ❞
❝ When you’re gone, I’ll go mad! So don’t throw away this thing we had. ❞
❝ I will kill your friends and family to remind you of my love. ❞
“ RIGHT HAND MAN ”
❝ The elephant is in the room. ❞
❝ I cannot be everywhere at once! ❞
❝ I’m in dire need of assistance… ❞
❝ Permission to state my case? ❞
❝ Your reputation precedes you, but I have to laugh. ❞
❝ I was just like you when I was younger. ❞
❝ Your head full of fantasies of dying like a martyr? ❞
❝ Dying is easy, young man. Living is harder. ❞
“ NON-STOP ”
❝ Are you aware that we’re making history? ❞
❝ Why do you assume you’re the smartest in the room? ❞
❝ Soon that attitude may be your doom. ❞
❝ Every day you fight, like you’re running out of time. ❞
❝ I’ve seen injustice in the world and I’ve corrected it! ❞
❝ Now what I’m going to say may sound indelicate… ❞
❝ Yo, who the eff is this? ❞
❝ Why do you always say what you believe? ❞
❝ I’ll keep all my plans close to my chest. ❞
❝ I know I talk too much, I’m abrasive. ❞
❝ For once in your life, take a stand with pride! ❞
❝ Every day you fight like it’s going out of style. ❞
❝ The fact that you’re alive is a miracle. ❞
❝ Would that be enough? ❞

She took a sip of her wine.
“Perhaps.”
Milady wasn’t giving up her cryptic responses.
“But it may be that they’ve always been that way, then is it really a curse and not simply something they were made for?”
{ ~❁~ }
“ Treasure that bites… ? “
Now that was a curious relation. Usually, treasure didn’t ‘ bite back ‘ unless it had a curse on it… and even that was just science fiction. Unless…
“ … don’t tell me– the treasures have curses on them?! “

[She went behind the aging bar, removing some old documents from a secret compartment.] “Here...” [She came over and placed the papers in front of him. They were all about her, her legal documents from 1889, her documents from her time in the opera, official pictures, etc.]
“Here is my proof.”
[Sitting at a table, he sat up straight and alert. He looked around at their new surroundings. He still wasn’t sure if he should trust this woman, but he was already this far. If anything happened, he was sure he was ready.]

“Don’t trouble yourself, Brenda.”
[She picked up her wine glass and took a sip.]
“I’ll recognize him when I see him. That I know for certain.”
[She was hoping, however, that the new Le Repaire would get popular enough to bring him in without her needing to do much searching. But it had been three years and this bad was already moderately popular before she took over and renamed it.]
“I’m touched that you care so much for my plight, but you needn’t worry.”

“A trouble maker for sure.”
She smiles, lightly poking Bijou’s nose.
“An Adventurer is always a trouble maker in some way, after all.”
-A… A trouble maker?? Moi?? Non, no!! You’re mistaken… I mean, I always go to play with my friends but I got alone this time!! I swear, mademoiselle…-
**Bijou gets surprised and nervous, like trying to explain she’s not a trouble maker… With her tiny chirps**

♆ Whoops my hand slipped
[Milady held a tissue to her eyes, surprised to see someone else coming after she was sure she’d closed up.]
“Oh.”
[She sniffed, hastily wiping away tears.]
“Madame Brenda. I didn’t know I’d left the door open.”

“For three years.”
[Even longer in their own time. She started to realize that she didn’t know a whole lot about Claude’s life outside of Le Repaire. He’d spent so much time in the bar she just began to think of him as an absolute there, he’d never leave.]
“I keep hoping he’ll wander in through the door, grinning like he always did. I wouldn’t even protest to that odd pipe mixture he smokes sometimes.” [She sighed, closing her eyes.] “But, I’m nothing if not determined, so I’ll keep searching for him.”

“The thought is interesting. But I came here to find someone, so perhaps watching the centuries pass would have done me worse.” She still wasn’t sure if she would find all of them in this time. And she couldn’t control the Treasure Animatus, even their return trip was uncertain...
“My Brother is a fool, no doubt he saw my strange disappearance and thought he could make some coin off of it by embellishing how an Opera singer could go missing.” She sighed.
“Ah, but Monsieur, power such as that can change depending on the person who uses it.” She grinned. “And people change quite often, non?” Although, perhaps dragons might not consider themselves to be ‘people’ but he seemed to be one. As human as anyone she’s met, just.... more magical. “Indeed. I doubt even the largest caverns of the underground would be able to fit a dragon comfortably.”
“So, not as slow as I had thought, initially. Pity. It would have been grand to see so many centuries turn. See horse and carriage turn to car and plane To see messengers turn to electrical notifications.” Or perhaps it was just him - he was already used to living for a long time - for a human to live as long as he did, they might find it excruciatingly lonely.
Humans, by nature, were social creatures. Dragons, at least those in Gransys, preferred isolation and solitude, and he was no different.
“Oh? A shame, but not unexpected. History is oft fancified by those who dislike the true facts. Or by those who know they can get away with it who desire a good bit of coin.” Or perhaps somebody who had been there had taken the events, prettied them up a bit, and set it for sale as a story?
Then, a laugh.
“Don’t be - I am little more than a destroyer. Even my magic is suited for little else.” A pause, to take another drink of the cider. Most of his work was just destruction. Killing and destroying and chaos. And brief moments of respite atop his Tainted Mountain as he waited for the Arisen to find him. “But, yes. I am a dragon, albeit hidden in a human form so as not to terrify people. Beyond which, my size would make many things much too hard to do in a place like this.”
