the silence feels incredibly loud after all the blasterfire, but obi-wan relishes in it, seated haphazardly on their starfighter's wing and attempting to catalogue his myriad of aches. his saber arm he keeps cradled to his chest, tucked into the fold of his tunic to stabilize what he's starting to believe may be a nastily broken wrist.

were it any other time, he would have returned the tender attention, plastering his master's scrapes and bruises with focused determination. instead, he sits prone and pale, eyes focused on some point beyond reality itself.

what brings him back is the brief, whiskery press of a kiss to his sweaty forehead — it's there and gone again, but it brings him back into his body, and he manages a smile.
