Hmm... I’m thinking about writing something good about Slam Dunk. But since my favorite character is Miichan (Mitsui), I’m worried it'll be biased.🤣🤣🤣

• Soccer player!Sukuna who trains 24/7. You wouldn’t guess it at first, but becoming the best forward is his ultimate dream. That’s what he thought until he met you — the school journalist who came to interview him for the paper.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who confidently answers all your questions, though he’s anxious inside, flustered by such a lovely girl talking to him.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who gives 100% on the field, making sure you notice him.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who often lifts the hem of his shirt during games to wipe the streaming sweat, and you just can't tear your gaze away.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who dedicates every goal to you. After scoring, he turns to the stands where you’re sitting and winks. Everyone sees his handsome, tattooed face on the big screens and thinks it’s for them, but they couldn’t be more wrong.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who brushes off pesky paparazzi and rushes to the locker room to change, just to meet you as you exit.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who, in the future, will grant interviews only to you. That’s what he decides while pulling on his socks (which he hilariously mismatched in his haste).
• Soccer player!Sukuna who will take you to the waterfront after a match, quietly listening to your stories, even if they’re about your brother's bathroom escapades.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who sneaks you into the stadium for your first “date” (which is really a friendly stroll) and teaches you how to play football. When the security catches you half an hour later, you both bolt for the exit, and he holds your hand tightly the entire way, ensuring you won’t get lost. Once you’re free, he insists on walking you home because it’s too dark (even if it were daytime, he’d still insist).
• Soccer player!Sukuna who tenderly kisses you on the lips by your front porch.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who rushes home after the kiss with an unstoppable smile. Even after his younger brother Yuji teases him, Sukuna's mood remains bright (Yuji secretly hopes you two spend more time together, as Sukuna becomes kinder after interacting with you).
• Soccer player!Sukuna who internally celebrates like a child when you, blushing, confess your love to him after practice.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who devours the bento you specially prepared for him, not dropping a single crumb.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who asks you to hang on him while he does pull-ups or to jump on his back when he does push-ups.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who, despite sitting with his buddies in the cafeteria, always looks for you with his eyes. He gets upset when he sees you not eating.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who handles every one of your bullies. No one has the right to even breathe in your direction.
• Soccer player!Sukuna who, if you’re fretting about your weight, playfully lifts you onto his shoulder and pinches your thigh. “You’re so light; do they not feed you at home?”
• Soccer player!Sukuna may not openly express his feelings, but his actions speak volumes. He’ll never let you feel less than perfect. Sukuna is ready to do anything for your happiness.

THIS IS SOMETHING I TALKED TO MY FRIEND ABPIT OMCE AND I THOUGHT ITD BE FUNNY TO POST
slam dunk boys on tiktok
Mitsui
Mitsui would lowkey be the mf that posts cringy dancing videos/trends to make himself go viral. BUT IT WOULDNT WORK 😂😂😂😂
And he’d be annoyed asl about that. I feel like he’d be the type to chase clout on social media and he’d be FIENDING for those likes and followers.
I FEEL LIKE HE’D BE A LIL THIRSTY ON TIKTOK — like he wouldn’t be up in girls’ tiktok comments but he would def like and repost any girl he thinks is pretty. AND IF HE WAS FEELING BRAVE, he would find and add the girl’s IG.
His for you page would be a mix of pretty girls, NBA basketball player edits, and like sped up music. He’d be making edits of his own basketball highlights with capcut and posting them 😂
He’d spam videos to Ryota and Sakuragi, especially basketball edits.
Miyagi
Ngl he’d be the only one on the team to fr have clout 😂😂😂
He would post both thirst traps AND photos/videos of ayako. He’d love to post her to the cute TikTok trends (like this). Ayako would jus like the post and not say ANYTHING
One thing about Miyagi is that he dresses GOOD, and he’s gonna show that off! He’d post outfit of the day videos and he’d gatekeep tf out of his clothes. Like he’d straight up ignore any comments asking him where he got his clothes from 💀
He seems like the type to not respond to ANY TikToks he’s sent. Like Sakuragi would SPAM videos and Ryota isnt even opening any of them
If Ayako sends him things on TikTok tho.. OPENED IN LESS THAN A SECOND. He’d have his notifications turned on too so whenever she posts, he is all up in her comments. He’d reply to any other guy in her comments talking some “She’s mine lil bro”
Rukawa
I don’t think Rukawa would be very into social media, but if there’s one social that he has, it’d be TikTok
He’d probably have a completely empty acc with like no pfp, 6 followers, and no posts. He would NOT care about being famous on there, although if he even jus posted a video of himself, he’d instantly go viral.
His fyp would be cats, music recommendations, english lessons, and basketball. That boy has NO interest in anything else on there. And he thinks that the other guys’ videos are corny, especially if he saw Ryota’s thirst traps 💀.
But if he EVERRR made a guest appearance on the guys’ videos, he would instantly blow up. Like all the comments would be asking him who he is, what his @ is, and why he’s so mf fine. He’d make his acc private after that 😂
I like to think that his fan girls would try to find his TikTok and stalk his reposts to see what kind of guy Rukawa is, and what he likes
Sawakita
HE’D DEF BE FAMOUS ON TIKTOK, maybe even more followers than Miyagi.
I think he’d initially blow up bc him and his teammates would do the dance trends for fun during practice, but all the girls would comment things like “That guy in the middle is so fine 😍” or “He’s the only fine one 😭😭”. AND HE’D BE USING IT AS A WAY TO DISS ON THEM, like “None of those girls even want you” 😂 (then he gets his ass whopped)
Ok I don’t think he’s the type to be thirsty but from time to time, he’d def like and repost a pretty girl on his fyp AND HIS FAN GIRLS WOULD NOTICE IT AND GO CRAZY.
He’d def post highlights from his games over famous tiktok sounds (LIKE THE “I done did the impossible” one) and he’d have girls from diff schools start showing up to his games after finding him off TikTok
I feel like he’d jus post on Tiktok for fun? Like he’d post a little bit of everything; basketball, him lipsyncing songs, dance videos with his friends, and even TikTok lives. He wouldn’t really care about being famous on TikTok so he’d jus post whatever makes him feel good yk?
I like to think that he follows the Shohoku boys (even Rukawa somehow) and from time to time, he comments on their posts with “🔥🔥🔥”

I found a couple other old essays. I dont even remember writing this. 😭😭😭
the importance of failure in slam dunk
At the heart of the Slam Dunk manga lies the journey of Hanamichi Sakuragi, an immature and often ridiculous delinquent who finds redemption and development not in his victories, but in his failures. While his triumphs—such as him leading to Shohoku winning against Sannoh—are often at the forefront of fans’ minds, it is his failures that truly define his arc. Inoue’s genius lies in how he uses these missteps, both comedic and heartbreaking, to slowly strip away Sakuragi’s insecurities and guide him toward self-realization. This essay examines how Sakuragi’s failures, ranging from his rejection of basketball to his pivotal injury at Nationals, form the emotional and thematic core of the manga. In Sakuragi’s imperfections, Slam Dunk captures something universal: what it means to fail, to rise, and to find beauty in the struggle. As the rapper J. Cole once said, “There’s beauty in the struggle.”
Sakuragi’s story begins with rejection—a theme that repeats throughout his arc. Before the series even starts, we learn that he’s been turned down by fifty girls, a fact that he loudly exaggerates to mask his own embarrassment. His arrogance is a facade, one meant to protect him from the constant fear of not being enough. When Haruko Akagi enters his life, her kind demeanor and genuine enthusiasm for basketball give Sakuragi something he’s been searching for: a sense of hope.
Though not without its complications. Haruko’s admiration for Kaede Rukawa, Sakuragi’s rival in love and on the court, creates a dynamic between the two where every interaction is charged with Sakuragi’s jealousy, bitterness, and the need to prove himself. These failures in love reflect his early struggles on the basketball court: full of bluster, but ultimately rooted in a deep yearning for validation.
Sakuragi’s first steps on the court are anything but graceful. He fouls. He trips. He flails in spectacular fashion. And then there’s Captain Takenori Akagi, a towering figure of discipline and seriousness, who sees right through Sakuragi’s facade. In one particularly memorable moment, after being harshly scolded by Akagi for his antics, Sakuragi storms out of the gym, declaring that he’s done with basketball. It’s a telling moment: Sakuragi’s ego can’t handle criticism, and his instinct is to run away when faced with failure.
But Sakuragi comes back. Perhaps it’s Haruko’s encouragement, or maybe it’s the sting of Akagi’s words, but something pushes him to return. It’s a small act, but it marks the beginning of his transformation. Though his early games are riddled with mistakes, airballs, turnovers, even scoring on his own basket, these failures chip away at his arrogance, revealing a resilience he didn’t know he had. Inoue doesn’t shy away from showing how difficult growth can be. Sakuragi’s journey is not a straight line; it’s a series of stumbles, each one teaching him something new about himself.
The most profound moment of Sakuragi’s journey comes during Shohoku’s legendary game against Sannoh at the Nationals. It is the culmination of everything he has fought for—the respect of his team, the recognition of his talent, and his own sense of belonging. When Sakuragi makes the dramatic final shot, securing victory for Shohoku, it feels like the perfect ending to his story. But it’s not. His triumph is bittersweet, overshadowed by the cost: a severe back injury that forces him to sit out the rest of the tournament.
For Sakuragi, who has only just begun to understand what basketball means to him, this loss is devastating. After spending so much of the series trying to prove himself—first to Haruko, then to Akagi, and finally to his team—he is faced with the harsh reality that his body, like his ego, has limits. And yet, it is in this moment of loss that Sakuragi experiences his most profound growth. He doesn’t wallow in self-pity or rage at the unfairness of it all. Instead, he commits himself to rehabilitation with the same fiery determination he once reserved for proving people wrong. For the first time, Sakuragi is not playing for validation; he is playing because he loves the game.
Inoue captures this shift wonderfully, letting Sakuragi’s actions speak louder than his words. His injury, rather than breaking him, becomes a turning point. It is no longer about the crowd’s praise or Haruko’s admiration—it is about finding joy in the struggle, in the effort itself.
Sakuragi’s failures don’t just shape his individual growth; they also deepen his relationships with his teammates. Early in the series, his arrogance isolates him, as he sees basketball as a platform for personal glory rather than a team effort. This is particularly evident in his rocky relationship with Captain Akagi, who initially regards Sakuragi as a nuisance unworthy of the sport. Over time, however, his mistakes force him to rely on others. Akagi’s stern guidance, Miyagi’s quick assists, and even Mitsui’s sharpshooting show how basketball is a team sport—a lesson Sakuragi learns through repeated failure.
His relationship with Kaede Rukawa also evolves significantly through this lens. Initially, Sakuragi views Rukawa as nothing more than a rival to be humiliated, both on the court and in Haruko’s eyes. This one-sided antagonism leads to numerous comedic confrontations, such as Sakuragi deliberately fouling Rukawa in practice out of jealousy. But as the series progresses, their rivalry becomes one of mutual respect. A key moment occurs during the Sannoh game, when Rukawa silently acknowledges Sakuragi’s contribution with a fist bump. This small, yet deeply significant gesture, highlights how far Sakuragi has come—not just as a player, but as someone capable of earning and giving respect.
What sets Slam Dunk apart from other sports manga is its refusal to romanticize perfection. Sakuragi’s growth is not marked by MVP titles or championship trophies but by the incremental changes in his character. By the end of the series, he remains imperfect—still impulsive, still prone to overconfidence—but those flaws are what make him human. His failures do not define him as a player; they define him as a person.
Inoue’s portrayal of Sakuragi’s transformation is marked by moments of both comedy and deep emotional weight. For instance, his iconic rebound against Sannoh—a moment of pure athletic brilliance—feels earned precisely because of the countless errors that preceded it. It’s not a product of raw talent but of hard work, resilience, and the lessons learned from failure. This balance between failure and success mirrors the unpredictability of real life, where growth often comes not from moments of triumph but from the struggles that lead up to them.
Slam Dunk is a story of triumph, but not in the way one might expect. What sets the series apart from other sports stories is its refusal to romanticize perfection. Sakuragi doesn’t end the series as an unstoppable force or a perfect player. He remains impulsive, rough around the edges, and prone to mistakes. But it’s these imperfections that make his journey so compelling.
By the end of the series, Sakuragi’s story isn’t about winning over the girl or becoming the best player on the court. It’s about finding joy in the struggle, embracing the process of growth, and discovering that failure isn’t something to be feared—it’s something to learn from. His story reminds us that the art of losing is not about failure itself, but about the courage to rise again, no matter how many times we fall.

Found some of my older essays in my google docs… you guys are very lucky. This may or may not be the last post until my winter break (depending on if i find more old essays)
love in slam dunk
Slam Dunk is best known for its intense basketball action and character-driven storytelling, but it also features some of the most pure and heartfelt depictions of love in shōnen manga. The relationships between Ryota Miyagi and Ayako, as well as Hanamichi Sakuragi and Haruko Akagi, provide a fresh perspective on romance, one that diverts from over-the-top romance tropes common in the Shonen genre, instead opting for moments of emotional authenticity among the series’s main two couples.
Ryota Miyagi’s feelings for Ayako are sometimes loud or obvious, but they are undeniably genuine. Ryota admires Ayako not just for her beauty but for her maturity, intelligence, and leadership as the team’s manager. One memorable example occurs when Ayako scolds Ryota for his brashness during practice, and instead of becoming defensive or aggressive, he listens attentively and takes her words to heart. He even scolds the others to listen to her words. This shows the respect Ryota holds for her, not as an idealized love interest but as someone who inspires him to be better.
What makes their dynamic so refreshing is Ayako’s independence and confidence. She acknowledges Ryota’s admiration without being dismissive or overly accommodating.
Throughout the series, Ayako’s support for Ryota goes beyond her role as the team manager. During games, she often singles him out with specific advice and encouragement, such as reminding him to stay calm under pressure or praising his quick decisions.
These moments may seem small, but they show Ayako’s awareness of Ryota’s struggles and it is her own way of reciprocating his feelings. Ayako doesn’t openly express romantic affection, but her actions—like cheering him on when he feels overwhelmed—speak volumes about her care for him.
Their dynamic, where love is expressed through small, caring acts rather than overt declarations/gestures, reflects a level of maturity rare in shonen manga. Their relationship thrives on mutual respect and understanding, and it shows that love doesn’t always need to be dramatic to be meaningful.
Hanamichi Sakuragi’s love for Haruko Akagi is one of the driving forces behind his decision to join the basketball team, but it is far from a typical romance. His feelings for Haruko are pure and earnest, fueled by admiration for her kindness and enthusiasm for the sport. What makes their dynamic unique is how Haruko inspires Hanamichi to grow—not by demanding it, but simply by believing in his potential.
Another thing sets their dynamic apart is how Hanamichi’s love is portrayed not as an obsessive or idealized fantasy, but as an innocent longing for connection. This innocence is most evident in Hanamichi’s fantasy of what it would mean to have a girlfriend. Unlike typical shonen protagonists, whose romantic aspirations might revolve around physical attraction or “weird” scenarios, Hanamichi’s dream is simply to walk a girl to and from school. This vision is strikingly pure and reflective of the awkward, genuine feelings of a teenager experiencing love for the first time. It is a big contrast to many shonen, which often sexualize their female characters or present romance in a way that feels transactional
Haruko, for her part, never mocks or diminishes Hanamichi’s feelings. While she is unaware of his crush, she consistently treats him with kindness and encourages his growth. A memorable example is when she praises Hanamichi for staying late to practice his shooting, showing that she values his effort and determination. Though Haruko’s heart belongs to Rukawa, her warmth and encouragement play a massive role in Hanamichi’s journey toward self discovery.
What makes Hanamichi and Haruko’s relationship so compelling is its emotional weight. Hanamichi’s crush is not rewarded with a confession or a dramatic romantic arc, but it serves as a catalyst for his personal growth. By channeling his love for Haruko into his newfound passion for basketball, Hanamichi discovers a sense of purpose and self-worth. Their relationship captures the awkwardness and uncertainty of teenage infatuation while showing how love, even unrequited, can push someone to be their best self.
In many shonen series, romantic subplots are rife with clichés. Female characters are often reduced to idealized figures or comic relief, while male protagonists are rewarded with their love interests after overcoming obstacles that have little to do with the relationship itself. In contrast, Slam Dunk grounds its romances in simple, yet authentic moments. Ryota’s admiration for Ayako and Hanamichi’s earnest crush on Haruko feel more like reflections of real human relationships than formulaic storylines.
For example, Ryota doesn’t win Ayako’s heart by performing some dramatic act; instead, his feelings are expressed through his consistent respect for her and the way he values her advice. Similarly, Hanamichi’s love for Haruko isn’t the reason he succeeds in basketball, but it serves as a gentle nudge toward discovering his own passion and discipline. These relationships are not about conquering or achieving love—they are about learning, growing, and connecting on a deeper level.

One kiss isn't enough
Characters : Gojo Satoru, Geto Suguru, Nanami Kento, Fushiguro Megumi and Choso
Masterlist
Gojo Satoru
Gojo Satoru adores wrapping his arms around your curves from behind, inhaling the intoxicating floral scent of your neck. He loses himself in your charm, finding you utterly irresistible, and he never tires of telling you so, each confession accompanied by a mischievous giggle curling on his lips.
He loves to plant tender kisses on your jawline, making you chuckle playfully. Sometimes, he gives small, gentle bites, subtly marking you as his own and expressing that every part of him belongs to you alone, drawing you deeper into his realm.
Your soft whimpers of his name during a kiss drive him wild, showing your desire, love, and fantasy, allowing him to do more than just kiss. He relishes stealing soft kisses in public, trying to shock everyone with his playful actions. You know these are not forceful—just tender pecks from his moist lips. How could you resist?
After a long night at work, he invites you to join him in the bath, sharing the warmth of the water and the sweetness of pink blossom soap. Even though you've seen each other naked countless times since you started dating, bathing together always feels different—more intimate, more vulnerable.
Gojo's gentle touch on your back, his soft chuckle when he does so, his tender lips grazing your shoulder, admiring you from behind—all feel like intimate secrets shared between lovers. As he closes his eyes, he places a small yet sensual kiss on your neck, calming you with his sudden move.
A faint blush adorns his porcelain cheeks as he whispers, "...need it? My dear, I don't 'need' anything. I want you."
Geto Suguru
Geto Suguru creates a comfortable atmosphere with his kisses, leaving you yearning for more with each touch of his lips. Sometimes, during kisses, he slips in compliments or love lines, telling you how beautiful you are, how sweet you are, and how happy he is to be around you.
His gestures are gentle; he loves cupping your face, gazing into your eyes, and locking his love with yours. His fingers trace the delicate curve of your jawline, enveloping you in an embrace that feels like coming home. He brushes his nose with yours, planting a gentle peck along with a playful bite on your earlobe as a final flourish.
He's like honeydew on a summer's day—irresistibly sweet, leaving you intoxicated with his charm until you're drunk on his affection. With your foreheads pressed together in the aftermath of a kiss, his soft breath dances across your skin, a gentle caress that leaves you longing for more.
Warmth radiates from him, wrapping around you like a cozy blanket. His breath feels like a familiar aroma, and sometimes he'll squeeze your soft body gently, eliciting a slight moan as your cheeks flush rosily. He giggles playfully before stealing another kiss on your neck, relishing the sensation of your vulnerability in his hands.
With a playful yet seductive smirk, he teases, "That wasn't so bad now, was it? How about something else? I know you want it right now."
Nanami Kento
People might think Nanami Kento isn't a romantic man. His reserved demeanor and serious disposition might seem boring to some, but he shows his true self to you, and you are privileged to see this side of him.
He showers you with sweet, endearing words, telling you that you are the reason he lives, the only person he loves. He kisses you tenderly, embraces you gently in bed, rubs your face with his warm fingers, and traces your jawline with small, affectionate bites.
He finds immense joy in seeing your sleeping figure beside him, watching you cook breakfast, or being cared for when he's sick. He couldn't stop admiring you, slipping sweet words into your sleep every morning before placing a small kiss on your nose.
As a token of his affection, he kisses your cheek before going to work, saying, "My morning dew, I hope you have a beautiful day."
Fushiguro Megumi
Fushiguro Megumi loves to steal kisses from you, claiming every part of you as his, making it clear that you belong only to him. When he finally steals a kiss, he places a small yet sweet one between your cheek and jawline, giggling at your reaction and saying you're as red as a cherry blossom and sweet as a melon, trapping you in his embrace.
In response, you'll pinch his cheek, laugh, or playfully punch him every time he tries to steal a kiss. He knows you're only pretending to be mad and that, deep down, you crave more kisses from him.
When it comes to kisses, he loves to kiss the tip of your nose and often gives you multiple soft kisses on your lips. He avoids bites because he doesn't want to hurt you.
Passionate yet reserved, he lets you put your arm around his neck while savoring the sweetness of his lips. Though he always denies his passion, it's clear he's just too shy to admit it.
Despite his mischievous nature, he tries to restrain himself from kissing you when he's with Yuuji and Nobara, convincing himself he's not very passionate. But you know very well that he's just being tsundere.
Choso
Despite his aloofness, he can be incredibly romantic and affectionate. When he kisses you, it’s always a tender softness, so sweet that you can't remember your name.
Sometimes, you catch the sweet murmur of your name between the kiss or a quiet hum escaping his sweet mouth, accompanied by a soft moan as your tongues intertwine.
There are moments when he chuckles between kisses, his eyes brimming with emotion, his cheeks flushed, and he is rendered speechless. Yet he cherishes every reaction you give, and while gently brushing your neck as he deepens the kiss, he still manages to tell you that small kisses aren’t enough for him.
He needs more of you... because you're his alone.
Of course, he kisses you only when you're alone with him, away from the distractions of his brothers. Not wanting to be distracted by the teasing comments from Mahito or the disapproving remarks from Jogo. The two could be annoying sometimes.
