These are my first five research images for my People at work project.
The first image is by Macneill photography and is of the owner of a hairdressing business, I decided to choose this image as one of my research images because of the lighting that has been used. I like the fact that the subject is lit but there is shadows just behind her which draws the eye to the lightest part of the image which is her face, another thing I like is that the subject is just off centre and the bright colours of the nail polish behind her draws your eye to that part of the image as most of the image is quite muted tones.
The second image is by James Bastable and is of two flight attendants in their workplace, I like this image as it shows you where the subject works on a day to day basis and the rows of chairs create some leading lines that show how large their workspace is and draws your eye to the middle of the image. The shallow depth of field makes sure the attention is on the main subjects which is the people.
The third image is a portrait of CEO for Eddie Stobart taken by Claire Wood Photography. I like this image because you can tell that some artificial lighting has been used as you can see the shadows on the right side of his face, I also like this image because just by looking at the image you know what kind of things he works with and even what company if you notice the colours of the lorries, The image has a shallow depth of field which makes the subject the main focus of the image even though the lorries are brightly coloured, The lorries in the background create a nice to look at background because of the colours and the repetition pattern from the lorries.
The fourth image is of an employee in a call centre taken by Lloyd Ducket, I decided to choose this as one of my research images because it was a bit different from the other images I have used as it is not a portrait that has been set up this time it looks a bit more candid. I like the fact that you can see the amount of screens in the office which shows that it can be quite busy, I also like the expression on the main subjects face and I like the fact that he is just off centre.
My last image is of a parcel force worker sitting on the back step of his delivery van, this image was taken by Jo Hanley Photography and I think it stuck out to me because it shows two of the most important things about the business, the couriers and the delivery fleet. I like the use of the van as the background because it is a very recognisable aspect of the company and most people have seen it before. The lighting has come from the right hand side as you can see shadows on the left, I can’t tell if its natural or artificial light that has been used in this image. because the sky is quite dark it makes me believe that it is artificial.

This is my storyboard for my 24fps project.
This shows the shots that I plan on filming and makes me aware of what composition i need to achieve and the lighting.

This image was taken while we were looking around different classrooms in the college and getting inspiration for our little things project, I think this image could work when when properly lit because the patterns and the effect.
If i light this from the correct angle i could create really night shadows and highlights which will add even more depth.

These are my five research images for the little things project, these five images show still life in studio and on location.
The first three images are shot on location which I personally think works very well for these images as it shows them in a more natural way and makes the overall image look a lot less staged, the image of the mouse trap is shown in its usual place and it is using natural light which just falls nicely onto the subject.
The image of the bottle is shown in a sort of kitchen environment which is naturally where something like that would be kept, the light isn’t natural light which is different from the first image because that uses natural light, I think the mix of studio light on location works really well for some subjects if the location doesn’t draw the eye away from the actual object. The third image in this series of images shows objects being placed with similar objects which tie in together to create a sort of scene. This can be done on location or in studio but i really like this sort of image it adds a bit more to a boring looking object such as a book.
The last two images in this post are studio still like images which have been shot on black backgrounds which is very typical for still life images they are both more focused on the objects in the image which may work well for some very detailed objects.

This is the final image in my 10 images for my research for my structure project.
This image was taken inside the Bank of England,Thread Needle Street by Matt clayton.
I decided to choose this image as my final photo because it shows off one of the biggest, design aspects in the building and shows it off perfectly. the pattern created by the stairs makes for a great image.

This is my 9th photo os 10 for the research for my structure project.
This image of Liverpool central library was taken by Jill Tate.
I decided to choose this image because of the pattern from the circles of the levels of the building. I think the circles draw the eye to the middle of the image and I really like the look of the stairs they lead your eye to different parts of the image. Also i like that the main part of this image is the roof which is one of the very good design points of the building.
I like the use of the natural night coming through the roof but also the little spots of light you can see in the image on the different floors.

This image was taken by Jill Tate it is of Gosforth Park nature reserve bird hide.
I decided to use this image as part of my research because It has such good composition and it is so pleasing on the eye as the photographer has shown the very pretty natural surroundings of the building.

This is my seventh image of my ten research images for my structure project.
This image of central square in Newcastle was taken by Steve Mayes.
I decided to choose this image because it shows off one of the biggest design elements of the building which is the main staircase i think this is important because in architecture photography you should try and show off the parts of the building that the architect would be most proud of.

This is my sixth image of my ten research images for my structure project.
This image of Staiths South Bank, Gatehsead was taken by Steve Mayes.
I decided to use this as one of my research images because it is a little bit different from the rest of the architecture photography that I have seen, This photo shows the skyline of Sthaiths South Bank and was taken just as the sun was going down I really like the colours in this image and i like that the grass in the foreground had been slightly lit it ties it in with the lights in the background of the image.

This is my fifth image of 10 for my research for my structure project.
This image of Henrietta House in London was taken by Anthony Weller.
I decided to choose this as one of my research photos as it was a little different because you cant see the whole building just one little detail and i really like the colours and patterns in the photo.
The green lights in the side of the building give it a really futuristic look and makes it look like the other parts are almost floating.

This is the fourth of my 10 research images for my structure project.
This photograph of the London Aquatics Centre was taken by Anthony Weller.
I really like the fact that the photographer had focused on one of the main design aspects, The way he has photographed it showing the other buildings in the background shows just how big the building is and the sun coming in from the right creates nice lighting onto the metal and glass building.

This is the third of my 10 research images for my structure project.
This photograph attracted me because of the composition and the light trails. The only thing i don’t like about this photo is the face that the top of the building is slightly cut off just a little bit.
The angle this photo has been taken makes the building look very tall and the composition is great with the streetlights on either side and the building in the very centre.

This is the second of my 10 research images for my structure project.
This image is another image by photographer Simon Kennedy, This was shot for Hotel expo fornebu Norway.
I like this photo because The walls act as really good leading lines and the brightness of the photograph compliments the modern design of the corridor, I really like the composition of this image and the angle he has shot the corridor, the fact he hasn’t shot the corridor from straight on is something different and i really like the effect.

This is the first of my 10 research images for the Structure project.
This image was taken by Simon Kennedy an architectural photographer from London, this image is one of a series of images that was taken of the British museum great court restaurant.
I think the photographer used a mix of natural light coming from the ceiling and studio lights at a 45 degree angle to the table and chairs.
I really like this image because the colours, the colour of the chairs seems to blend perfectly with the colours in the roof and they are the main pops of colour as everything else is very neutral. I also like the leading lines all the lines in the image seem to draw you eye straight to the centre of the image. My favourite part of the image is the roof.

My last photographer who became a filmmaker is Mary Ellen Mark
Mary ellen mark is a very famous photographer and film maker. She has been published in high name magazines such as LIFE, New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair. Her photographs of runaway children in Seattle became the basis of her academy award nominated film Streetwise. I think her photography is really nice most of her photos are black and white if not all of them she specialises in street photography but she has also done some great celebrity portraits.
Her most famous film streetwise is about runaway children in Seattle and between labour day and halloween 1983 she shot 50 hours of film.
