Our latest expedition into the Canal de Las Montañas provided some amazing glacial views and interaction with Patagonian wildlife. As the sun peeked through the clouds, it shined some Patagonian light on the Hermann glacier, illuminating the blue glacial ice and providing this amazing sight (photo by @easonwarren) See more: https://www.chiletourpatagonia.com/daytrips

The W trek is inarguably the most popular trek circuit in the Torres Del Paine in Patagonia and Peurto Natales is the best place starting point because it is so close to the main entrance to the park. For anyone considering a trek in the Torres Del Paine in Patagonia, Chile, careful consideration must be given not only to the trek but also to start and end points. Puerto Natales is the best starting point.

Perito Moreno Glacier. After the W Trek, visiting for a day Patagonia's most popular glacier is one of the best options. Day tours from Puerto Natales departs everyday during the summer season. For those with a few days to spare, El Chalten is just "next door" to El Calafate. 📸richardmapley #wtrek#chiletourpatagonia #patagonia #peritomoreno#elchalten #argentina

There are several ways one can have a wonderful Patagonian experience in the Torres Del Paine. Intrepid souls pack their rucksacks and go on a complete trek around the natural reserve, a trek that could last 10 to 15 days. One can visit only those parts such as the outside of the O” part that excludes the W portion or only the W Torres Del Paine tour. One can make it a continuous trek from one point of attraction to another, stopping for the night in tents, campsites or in hotels. There is still another way to enjoy the Torres del Paine treks and that is to simply explore it in parts, making it a day excursion to a point of interest, return to the hotel and go back home or set off in another direction on another day excursion.

Top 5 Things to Do in W Hike Patagonia Tour
There are plenty of options open to those who go hiking in Patagonia’s Torres Del Paine. Which are the “top” things you should do when you explore the W section of the:”O” circuit of Torres Del Paine? This can be subjective depending on outlook and preferences. However, there are several things you can and should do.
Spend more time
The W hike Patagonia is full of beautiful sights, some visible from the specified trekking path and some of them hidden. Hire a local guide you can get at a local Patagonian tour agency and take him along or get information from locals or other trekkers on the places worth a visit and get off the beaten track. There are plenty of campsites on the route, paid and free so you need not worry about costs. Instead of a 2 or 3 day excursion make it a week to 2 weeks long excursion. Spend time at the French Valley, alongside the Grey Glacier and explore the areas around the base towers or Torres Del Paine or the Cordillera del Paine as they are known here. Climb a tower as far as you can go. The view from above is enchanting.
Grey Glacier Kayaking
The Grey Glacier offers a tough challenge for brave trekkers. Go trekking on the glacier if you are up to it but you will find that kayaking on the lake is more enjoyable since there are hidden coves and areas that will constantly surprise you. Besides, navigating the floating icebergs is always a challenge. While here, try your hand at horse riding.
French Valley
The W trek in Torres Del Paine will inevitably take you to French Valley. Acting on the dictum that the journey is a destination, enjoy the trip, frolick in the streams and rivers and skip rocks on the lake. Enjoy being a child of nature all over again.
Stay in a tent under starry skies, cradled by the mountains
Yes, there are hotels along the route and cabins and also campsites that may or may not be free but where you can set up a tent and enjoy a night out like no other.
Photography
Leaving out photography from the W trek Torres Del Paine trek would be unforgivable because the scenery is just right out of picture books. Even a smartphone is sufficient. You do not have to lug heavy cameras but be sure to have more than a couple of spare batteries for your phone and memory cards.
Dine on local food
While on the trek you would be munching on ready to eat foods but at night you can give yourself a treat and dine on local foods such as the Patagonian feast you can enjoy at the Estancia Cerro Guido.
There are no rules that you should stick to these five things to do. You can just as well do what pleases you. However, it is best to not undertake anything that is risky.

Trekking in Patagonia in Chile is an ethereal experience because this region is the perfect choral composition of valleys, mountains, forests, lakes, rivers and glaciers that can be so gratifying for the soul. Trekking is neither too tough nor easy and the effort is rewarded by the experience. There are intrepid souls who set off on a 10 to 15 day hiking tour all on their own, covering the entire “O” route and some who choose to explore only the W portion. Regardless it can be an eye-opening experience and highly gratifying but full of pitfalls because there are secrets to the trek that only local and experienced tour operators like Chile Tour Patagonia know about.

How to engage in the world famous W hike at Torres Del Paine?
Hiking has always been a significant way for people to enjoy a sanctuary away from the material or artificial world. It connects the person with the glorious reality of nature. Hiking tests the limits of a person in both physical and spiritual ways. Torres Del Paine inhabits globally renowned trekking sites that are at the heart of nature and offers the best spectacle of the same. The W trek is well known and most visited amongst other popular zones O and Q. These names are derived from the shape of the track. For example the W trek is a beaten road on-through the mountainous terrain in the wavy shape of the letter W. Get ready for the world famous W hike: Generally, the summer season is best for hiking on such parts and it is actually not possible during winters. Puerto Natales is linked conveniently to the park and transport systems are available as well. Furthermore, travel agents are available who offer fast and efficient services to travelers regarding transport systems, accommodation bookings and suitable food services. Puerto Natales is also the best place to prepare before the W hike. It is important to note that such activities move the person away from general human capabilities. Natural conditions are diverse as much as they are unique and hence it becomes increasingly important to keep all the necessary requirements. The primary essentials are camping materials, wood for bonfires, sufficient food supply, proper clothes, but with limited amounts to keep the overall weight of the backpack ideal to carry. Other requirements will include things for entertainment and perhaps warm drinks to enjoy amidst the snowy mountainous regions. What else is in store for us over there? The beautiful French Valley not only tests the physical limits of explorers but the evident spectacle that people get to see by the end of the trail is worth every single effort taken to climb the mountains. For even more adventure the Grey Glacier is connected to this beaten track. People witness fascinating wildlife encounters. Penguins are scantly available like the sparsely existent population in Patagonia. Great snow adventures and exiting holiday sports await tourists on the Grey Glacier. The track further connects the three Granite Paine Towers and its views are spectacular, not to forget the beautiful sunrise that people adore wholeheartedly. What can be concluded? Patagonia encompasses all the essential elements or terrains of nature that attracts tourists from all across the world. It is known for sublime peace and immense tranquility. There are deserts, mountains, coasts connected with major oceanic bodies and evergreen grasslands. Trekking parks are only one of those many facets of nature which the place brings to light and travel agents operate to connect the aspirant world of tourism to such magnificent places. Hiking is not only exciting but it serves the purpose of satiating the mind, body and spirit. And these parts offer the best environment, suitable heritage and a brilliance of views that transcends human belief or expectations.
