Hello everyone. Admin Emery here again.

This note will be the final “official” admin note regarding the hiatus. I hope that this note will give you helpful information with the hiatus so that you, personally, can make the best decision for you in terms of your writing goals and moving forward in general. 

First I want to thank everyone who participated in the survey. Honestly we were worried that this would not be supported but most of you gave us a lot of love and respect for the decision and we appreciate that. The survey helped me gather insight as to what everyone was thinking that way the admins could make decisions on these little details involving the hiatus. So again, thanks for doing that.

Regarding the hiatus:

Like stated in the last note, I cannot tell you when or if we will be coming back, but what we will do is provide periodic updates as to the general status of Athoria as needed. We will do this either on the main or in the Discord, we haven’t decided yet. So please stick around the Discord server and turn your alerts on so you don’t miss it when you are tagged. 

A popular question about the hiatus is what to do regarding new threads or plots:

My last note was somewhat vague because I wanted more information before I started posting all these decisions. So with information from the survey and general member feedback, I want to heavily reiterate the fact that Athoria is not a sandbox roleplay nor are we going to be converting into one for this hiatus. Though the idea has come up in discussion before, we will not be allowing current members to roam freely inside the roleplay without direction, a main plot, admin overwatch, activity checks, etc. 

What this means is that as members, you can close up any current and active threads you have going on right now. However, you cannot start new threads with new plots in the present day time. Athoria’s plot is on hold with this hiatus. If the main plot is on hold, then your characters are also on hold. If you are itching to write, you can still post headcanons, flashbacks, self-para’s (as long as they are not with new plot ideas, but I think that general self-para’s would be fine), or if you guys wanted to get together to do ask meme’s or writing prompts, or maybe even a seasonal challenge, we could do that too. 

Like stated before, for the most part everyone gave us a lot of support, love and concern regarding this hiatus so we want to thank those people for that. Everyone knows that the admin team has been at this a very long time. We ask that you trust us. However, I cannot stress enough that I am honestly unsure if Athoria will be returning in this exact state. I understand the concern and sadness that this brings and I hope that everyone can make a decision on what they want to do based on the fact that I am being honest about this information. 

Athoria has always been a safe and beautiful place for creative writers to come together and it is not our desire to take that away from people. But at this point in our lives the admins have to take this step back from the game. And we are so sorry for anyone we have disappointed during this process.

Hello everyone. Admin Emery here. I have an important announcement to make regarding the roleplay. Please let us know if you would like to talk about this or have any questions in general.

First, I want everyone to know that Athoria has always attracted the most beautiful and creative writers. I've always enjoyed myself as an admin in this group because of stories we are able to tell and the people who tell it. So I want to thank everyone for always coming back to Athoria, for sticking around, and for remaining active throughout the many changes over the last six years. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to have such amazing writers in my life.

Second, I want to say that Children of Athoria has always had its ups and downs. This roleplay was established on tumblr in May 2012 and has gone through many changes as expected. Administrators have always tried to keep the general feel for Athoria alive and even attempted to introduce new elements and timelines in order to keep Athoria afloat. Athoria has extensive information and history, and the stories that can be told within this crazy little world are endless. Athoria is timeless, and it’s honestly one of a kind.

With that being said, as of April 1st Athoria will be on an official indefinite hiatus.

An indefinite hiatus means that unfortunately we will not know when or if Athoria will reopen. It means that the roleplay will be put on hold until that information is obtainable. 

I wish I could give you the answers, but I honestly do not know for sure at this exact time.

We will keep the public discord open and allow current members to keep their characters and post if they want to close up plots and stories within Season Five. I would love for everyone to stick together and continue to write, but we will not be updating the main-plot or website, checking activity, or generally moving forward with this season at this time. So this is a decision you will have to make and let me know.

I think there might be a lot of questions and concerns and sadness, which is understandable. I am more than willing to jump in a chat or post a video about why this decision was made that might help with some closure, but I cannot do that right at this moment. I just need a little time to get things together. That information will not be posted on the main and will only be accessible towards current members.

What I’d really love everyone to do is to click on the surveymonkey link and fill out this survey. I will put the password in the Discord in the Announcements channel. I just need a general idea of who will be sticking around and how you guys are feeling. I’d like to have these responses by next week so that I can write up a final post and so we have an idea of who wants to ride out the hiatus, etc. Again, I wish I could tell you when or if we will be coming back, but I can’t. So please be honest in the survey. I promise we will not get offended or mad. You will not be able to take this survey anonymously.

I’m so sorry to dump this randomly on everyone without much warning.

Throughout the next two weeks, the main website and tumblr will be changing to reflect the state of the hiatus. Our submit box will stay closed. For members, please do not send questions or comments to the main. Please use Discord.

The admins love you all so much. Thank you for allowing us to have such a wonderful Season Five and we really hope to be back soon to finish this season out. Athoria has always had the best writers hands down!
