Welp this confirms my theory that using yeast nutrients for brewing alochol will vastly improve the mold taking hold and out competing anything that may spoil it.
And yeah the top got dried out a bit too much though the mold tried at least.
This is probably the closest I've gotten to near ideal koji growth coverage and thickness as well.
We figured out how to make it in our temporary living environment which been biggest difficulty really.
Also despite what a lot tells you, koji can very much work on rice that's been baked rather than steam and it's far the most feasible if steaming is too much spoons to do.
The "sake "we're making contains numerous evolutions of our progressive growth towards learning koji cultivation.

Today's fucked up research results for growing koji, a. Oryzae, I've discovered that you can grow it on rice paper and result in what I can only describe as a fucked up fuzzy blanket of sweetness

Oh also growing koji has been fun because of previous mycology experience so it's been curiously fun to apply combination of our unhinged understanding of how to grow mold and the typical outlined steps for growing koji.
Currently nixtamalizing corn to turn into mold food for the koji, unsure if I want to corn Miso it or if I want to corn alcohol it.

There's something so feral about seeing the mold you're growing start producing heat when you first touch it and feel the warmth of life coming off it.

I got sucked into a new fixation recently, which is growing koji and refusing to acknowledge the "known" methods to growing it to find our own ways to grow it. I'm used to growing food fungus that turn into mushrooms but haven't tried growing molds like koji for food. Currently we're experimenting with growing koji on nixtamalized corn tortillas, sliced processed bread and shredded cassava.
(yes I picked up an abandoned project to learn more about home brewing and fermenting alcohol because I found out mold that makes it's own amylase )
Also if this works, I plan to make nixtamalized maizo /corn like Miso.

Began to do wire working for a coyote tooth that we have. I'm using non precious metal to get rough idea of shape and how I want to build the final piece.

I guess the biggest thing I hated about rockhounding has been the ecological destruction that a lot of rcokhounders create either by leaving massive unfilled holes all over the place or trampling over sensitive areas of ecology to get to places or simply the general litter, it's rather bleh. Sure it's not all them but still

The atrocity that I can't really upload any of the renders of the gems we made in gem cut Studio, gem cad like software.

Generally in the current of jewelry and gems, you run into a lot of the issues of accountability of sources. It's sometimes obtuse to figure out where gems are acquired typically, whether ethicality and best of practices were followed. This especially applies to precious metals due to federal and international laws where you have to go a bit of length if you wish to acquire gold in specific formats for example.
For precious to semi precious stones or minerals we facet or use, we tend to default to either synthetics, if natural, source them from vendors we research that are shown to be consistently ethical or we'll reclaim from estate sales or similar places followed by verification of it. We'll make a list as well at some point listing all the sources of materials and chain of exchange where necessary and note specifics for any pieces as well.
We wish for this industry to be vastly more transparent and it'll be much easier for people to have fully informed choice whether they wish to buy things depending on the way it's acquired.
That is for certain to say there will be various gems or minerals we won't have at all due to ethical reasons.
Anyways another long winded message into the library void

We got our kofi setup finally, will probably make pin post for that at some point. I still need to setup store page, and other things for when we prepare to sell various gems we facet, reselling stock we have, jewelery and what ever else art things we want to sell.

So we named the cat Tohtonia, or for the sun warm to something. Mainly because of the warm kitty meme.
