We tend to complicate life, but Jesus made it clear: love one another. So why is that so hard to do in this world today? I think it’s because love isn’t passive. Love takes courage, patience. It isn’t about good feelings toward someone with things are easy, but showing love when they are difficult. Sometimes it means standing up, creating boundaries. Other times it simply means listening. For this picture, I wanted to convey that feeling of sadness when your life hits an autumn phase, where you wonder why the leaves are brushed away by the winds of change, but where you also feel hopeful. There is a still small voice in the autumn of our lives, and this leads us to a new season if we’re able to be flexible enough to bend our branches so they don’t break, yet still remember the solidness of our roots, holding us in a place where we are worthy, and loved.
