I’d always grown up believing the best of the world, seeing it with rose colored glasses. But darkness scraped off my childishness, removing my skin, rendering it ashes. I had a choice To sit, to remember, to anger, to condemn Or I could re-grow that skin, painfully stronger than it had been. So you know what I did? My skin grew back, tough and more rosey than ever before. I have a power inside of me that spoke to the darkness ‘no more.’ It sang: ‘You do not have to be broken to be real. You don’t have to be broken to feel. You are mighty in your wholeness. Strong and growing and healed. And your rose-colored glasses are glasses no longer, but have become the way you see what is stronger. the darkness only wins if we sit in our anger but in healing, that childlike-rosey light is now your anchor.’

I recorded a podcast about my story with anxiety & trauma (this season was one of the main reasons I stepped away from tumblr so I could seek healing). It’s been about 3 years, and I’ve experienced so much redemption and healing and want to share with my tumblr friends my story. I miss you all, love you, and am so thankful for the time I spent on here.

16 year old Ryan and Chelsie? :) :)

Haha, here you go. You hit the gold mine this time! I included a timeline of us in photos together….because I seriously adore this guy and it made me so happy to look at all these photos again. Hope you don’t mind. :) 

We started out two little silly pies. 

And then we met as those awkward 11 and 12 year olds

And then I started liking him back….and he asked my dad’s permission to take me to homecoming and give me my first kiss. I was 16 and he was 15. We were definitely awkward here. :)

And then he turned 16 and I turned 17 the next year  :)

And then the next year when I turned 18 and he turned 17 :)

Then we went overseas together and we decided we knew marriage was in the future.

And then I cut my hair all off and turned 19 and graduated with my AA and went away to college

And then I figured out how madly in love with Ryan I was and came home and he graduated college and my hair started getting long again

And then Ryan went away at school and was poor and lived in his car for a while and I used to drive to meet him at Starbucks an hour away and we fell in love all over again in that little Starbucks and it was wonderful.

And then he proposed when he was 19 and I was 20

and then we got married on the most beautiful day of my life… only a few months later…..because, in our hearts, we knew we were always meant to be together since we were 12 years old.

and now we are married and it was the greatest decision we ever made.

and there’s is the beginning of our adventure together. (and if you’re still following me after this ridiculous overload of Chelsie & Ryan photos, I will love you forever :) 

Oh hey, it’s me again and it’s been 4 years since we got married. We’ve been through so much - travel, heartbreak, joy beyond compare, and are more in love than ever before. And now….we’re PREGNANT. Yay! March Babe coming soon. We couldn’t be more happy that our love has brought us to the most exciting adventure.

17 weeks preggers and we’re still enjoying outdoorsy adventures and mountainy things. I love the outside.

you are my miracle. my childhood hope. i prayed to have you. all those years. when others were breaking up and moving away, when brokenness was all anyone knew. i prayed that we would stay. i knew i wanted your heart. forever. but i wasn’t sure how to make forever in a world of finite. so i prayed and prayed and cried and yelled and wrote and asked. for you. 

it was hard. there were so many things that tried to stop us. so many people who said we couldn’t. so many life changes that begged for us to go separate ways. so many tears and hurt and times we could have walked.

but there was forgiveness. and we learned grace. we learned how to love deeper than finite. deeper than even forever.

and our love is the sweetest symphony that sweeps life off its feet.

I'm not on tumblr much anymore, but my marriage post is still floating around here, so it felt right to give one last post about this. We are so over-the-moon about some exciting news. We're PREGNANT! Watch our goofy announcement video in my bio on instagram to see more. It's early still, but we are so happy and wanted to share so we could ask for all the prayers and protection in this next season. It's been four sweet years of adventuring with the love of my life....and my heart is so full knowing that we get to now share our adventures with a little person. ❤️

This isn't the most well shot or lit video, but it's one of the greatest moments of this guy's life so it deserves to be here. Rooting with him for our Cubbies was so sweet together. Since the moment we met when he was 11 years old, he has never stopped telling me about his Cubs, he owns documentaries that I had to watch early on to understand his journey with them, he knows all the stats, all the nuances, all the pain. We didn't sleep and left to catch a plane to Chicago for work at 4:30am, so to say we are physically and emotionally exhausted is an understatement, but we're happy because his dream finally came true and we watched history happen together. ❤️❤️ #worldseries #worldseriesgame7 #cubs #gocubsgo
