Tandoori Machli Mirchi Bada

Ingredients for tandoori fish tikka ( filling) Ingredients for Fish tikka (Serves 4) 250 gms Basa fillets cut into 4cm chunks ( you may use any of your favorite fish) 1 tsp lemon juice Pinch of salt Melted butter for basting (around 1-2tbsps) Mint chutney to serve For the marinade; ½ tsp ginger garlic paste ¼ tsp Ajowain 100 gms thick greek yoghurt/ Hung yoghurt ½ tsp Kashmiri chilly powder ½ tsp cumin powder ¼ tsp white pepper powder 1 tbsp fresh coriander finely chopped 1 tsp Mustard oil Salt to taste
Ingredients for Mirchi Bada 250gms Salaan Mirch ( Banana Chilli ) 1 small onion ( finely chopped) 250 gms Besan ½ tsp turmeric powder ¼ tsp cumin powder ¼ tsp coriander powder ¼ tsp Amchoor powder ¼ tsp salt ¼ tsp Baking powder
Method
1. Add the fish picattas to a mixing bowl along with the lemon juice and salt. Mix well and set aside.
2. In a separate bowl add garlic and ginger paste along with the rest of the marinade ingredients. Mix well and add the fish cubes to the marinade. Leave to marinate for 30minutes in refrigerator.
3. Adjust the grill (singdi) / tandoor temperature. Put the fish onto the skewers. Roast evenly for 10-12 min or until just done. Baste with butter half way through cooking.
4. Once the Tandoori fish tikka is done take it off from the skewers in a bowl and allow it to cool.
5. To make filling – Chop the fish tikka with knife roughly , add chop onion to it and mix well.
6. Wash and pat dry the chilies.
7. Make a cut on the skin of chilli and deseed it. Make sure that your knife does not pierce through the other side of chilly. Fill the filling of fish into the hollow cavity of banana chilli.
8. Now in a bowl mix all the ingrediens of mirchi bada ( except chillis)and make a semi thick paste.
To make bada
1. Heat the oil in the kadhai.
2. Hold the stuffed chillies from the stem and dip it in to the batter. Let drip the extra batter and fry it in oil.
3. Repeat the process with rest of the chillies.
4. Once done , take it out and place it on kitchen paper to absorb extra oil.
5. Serve hot with mint chutney and tomato ketchup.
