i keep a record of every form of sadness i went through the day at the end of each night as a practice to learn to understand my emotions better and know how they feel if they show later ahead. this character sends them to the moon :^)

i couldn't stop myself from adding my favorite characters' views about love here.

hanzo shimada: hanzo thinks love is when you obsessively control everything around your loved ones and keep reminding them through "necessary measures" to stick to the plan youve put together

cole cassidy: cole thinks love is when someone likes him enough to use him as a bait for a while, so that's what he does, he turns up 100% in for 2 days and after that it's another missing person and another fake name

Elizabeth Caledonia Ashe: thinks love is to never ever ever ever leave a person ever. even in death. it means you never change your mind about anything. she wants to put their loved ones in a glass jar and look at it for a sense of security when things begin to change again. no one has ever been able to do that for her, so she doesn't love

and what can Fix Them™ ?

••• Hanzo is already in the mountain top of revelation about healthier ways of loving. he realized how destructive can over-controlling get through literal blood and tears. trying to "love" his brother by informing him of his grave mistakes he ended up overdoing and taking his life. because when you let rules decide your life, it's only a matter of time before you put those rules before the comfort [and in this case life] of your loves ones.

the cultic family he lived in and obeyed every rule of and even agreed to become the ruler of is now dismantled by the hands of the very man. the shame and sorrow he feels for taking his own brother's life, the understanding that what he had done was betrayal of the only rule that matters, that to be there for your sibling, shows that he does not stand by that old definition of love. nothing in his life makes sense anymore so I'd say his purpose now is to find a new way to love and protect

••• I can't put into words how much life sucks for Cassidy. he's never existed, out of pure unluckiness. he wasn't deliberately put into this profession, he's here because people kept dragging him around to use him. he has multiple names, none of which could be real, everything about him is an enigma and unlike someone like sombra who erased all data about herself to hack better, he never wanted to not exist.

he has to hide from talon now, from the law, from the bounty hunters, from his former dad, from his so called found sister, from overwatch even because who knows what they're up to? he definitely thought to himself at least once that they'll be using him again, blaming it all on him and tossing him away. life fucking sucks for this dude

one of my fav cole/hanzo headcanons is that for cole, the hardest part of admitting that he likes hanzo to himself was tackling with the fact that everyone knows who they are. he's not some random nobody in a town he hopes he never visits again. he's here with all the people and all the support he's got. every member of overwatch will know. and to make things worse, he's the sibling of his best friend. he's so tangled up with anyone he technically shouldn't lose, but to love is to lose to him. if he falls for it and the time for a sudden unsaid goodbye comes up, he'll have to ditch all his friends and resources too. so he hesitates as much as he can until somewhere between frustration and getting clues of a better healthier way of loving existing in this world, he gives in and the rest is Cottage-House-And-A-Farm-With-Seven-Adopted-Kids

••• for Ashe though....

her thing is being stuck in the past. as the single child of a rich family she's had everything she's ever wanted since the beginning of life, except for being needed/wanted. her most loyal companion is a robot butler who's saved her life multiple times, served her everyday for years, came back to her after the call during the crisis and baked her favorite cake each year for every birthday but the genius of it is that ashe can't be sure if B.O.B. The Robot does this because he's programmed to do so or if he really wants her to be in his life. ashe is one of the only characters who's always with a pair but she'll never know if she's alone again or not.

i still believe the best way to help her through storytelling is to have cassidy return to her, tell her that despite the years, despite how much he's changed, despite the fact that the world put them in opposing forces, he still thinks the time they had together was lots of fun and that he would want to spend the rest of his life with ashe in it.

it'd prove to ashe that people WILL change naturally and forcefully by the hands of life but it won't mean that they're going to vaporize to nothing like her parents did. she'll learn that to love is to let people be free and watch them transform into different colors of themselves.

it'd be even good for cassidy since he'll learn that not everything in his life has been a cruel joke or a bait he fell into. sure his life was hard but sometimes when there's a choice between bad and worst, people have no better option to hurt their closest ones a little bit than to a lot. he'll also learn to confront the people in his past instead of disappearing. it'll be a practice run for existing for people he has wronged after he's done it.

im an absolute fan of when characters have their own twisted perceptions of love. like holy shit that guy thinks inflicting pain is affection! woah this silly man believes love is a form of ownership! give me more.
